I strongly recommend that friends who come to the Lake District not choose this hotel, because it is no different from a small hotel that is two or three times cheaper. I have no sense of service at all and my attitude is arrogant. I accidentally spilled a little tea on the tablecloth during breakfast (because the table was very small). The landlady "taught" me how to use the tea set in a weird way. ***? It was very uncomfortable and I spent over a thousand pounds after staying for three nights. The room was actually old and dark. The picture is very different from the actual thing. Don't come.

Having enjoyed afternoon tea here a number of times, we thought it would be the perfect place to stay whilst celebrating our wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed, it was the best anniversary thanks to Jonathan , Caroline and their lovely staff. Everything about this beautiful hotel shouts care and attention to detail. The room, and all areas of the hotel, were immaculate, the bed was so comfortable and we loved the chocolates made by the Blind Chocolatier in Staveley. How to give the afternoon tea a write up that does justice to how exceptional it was!!! The delicious soup, amuse bouche and vegetarian sandwiches are far superior to anything we have had anywhere else. We barely had room left for all our scones and cakes, but not to worry, they were all plated up and left in the fridge of our room for us to enjoy later. Breakfast was equally delicious and well organised. We can’t wait for our next stay!

Visited Cedar Manor for our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed the most amazing afternoon tea. It was quite simply exquisite and remarkably good value for money. I like words but simply can't find the right ones to describe how good this experience was. Outstanding food and the environment was exceptional. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. They even laid on amazing weather! We had a look around the hotel itself and if I didn't live only ten miles away, I would definitely be booking in! I will certainly be recommending it to friends and family. If there is a better hotel in the Lakes I haven't found it and I have been coming here for 50 years .....

Where to start with Cedar Manor. Things got off to a good start when we arrived and parked on the well maintained drive with a well tended garden. Jonathan showed us to our room which was small but perfectly formed. The little touches such as chocolates and gluten free biscuits were much appreciated. We then enjoyed an afternoon tea in the lounge which was cosy and intimate. The afternoon tea was exceptional and I would strongly recommend anyone staying to enjoy this. The option of gluten free and vegetarian for afternoon tea is rare and we felt staff had gone the extra mile. The bedroom was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, plenty to choose from and piping hot. Jonathan and Caroline were warm and welcoming hosts. Another positive was how spotlessly clean everywhere was. Altogether a very pleasant experience thanks to the housekeeper and the hosts.

This time we stayed in the Miller Ground room, a beautiful room on the ground floor accessible just beyond the lounge. Every aspect of The Cedar Manor is exquisite. Jonathan and Caroline have developed their home into a little oasis of peace. The rooms are of such a high standard of elegance with beautiful fabrics and furnishings . Breakfast is a relaxed experience with such lovingly prepared food with good quality products and prepared and presented in such an appetising way. The building sits in delightful grounds with beautifully cared for gardens. Very well located, slightly away from the hustle and bustle and traffic of Windermere but less than a 10 min walk and you are in the middle of town where everything is happening. Jonathan and Caroline are very friendly and laid back, yet professional. You are made to feel very welcome and can come and go as you please. All in all, a wonderful experience. We’ll definitely be back, again!!! J & S xx

We stayed in the Windermere room and the bed was really comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was beautiful and spacious, complete with chandelier! The room itself had lots of character, overlooking the front garden with a lovely window seat. The furniture had an "arched" motif to match the window shape which was a nice touch. Breakfast was chosen from a menu card in the room which contained all the usual choices such as cereals, yoghurt and fruit, cooked items, toast, etc., and this card was filled in, also selecting the desired time slot, and then hung on the room door handle. This ensured that breakfast was served beautifully and efficiently each morning. A great system! The owners, Jonathan and Caroline, are such a lovely couple and always able to offer helpful advice on things to do and places to dine. On our first night there, we were even able to attend the Lakeland shop Christmas tree switch-on, thanks to Caroline letting us know it was happening. This was our first time at Cedar Manor and they made us feel so welcome with nothing being too much trouble. We tend to have a yearly break in the Lakes and we will definitely be back at Cedar Manor at some point.

What a delightful find this place is! The exterior is an extremely pretty stone house in a late gothic style. Inside it is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bedrooms are very well designed, with quality gothic style carpentry (echoing the exterior), lovely wallpaper annd furnishings, and very comfy beds. We found the bar area cosy and welcoming, and it too was very stylish. There is a very coherent design feel to the whole place. The breakfast was of excellent quality. Our host was very attentive and looked after us well. I would definitely recommend it.
