This was the most BEAUTIFUL property we have ever stayed at (and we travel a lot) - every single detail was planned out meticulously, the breakfast was incredible, the location pure perfection!! THANK YOU!! We will definitely be back when visiting Big Island again!!

We had a delightful stay at the Volcano Rainforest Retreat in March. This trip was five years in the making and as high as our expectations were, the Sanctuary Cottage surpassed all of our dreams. From the warm welcome and detailed orientation to the scrumptious breakfasts and tranquilizing Japanese Soaking Tub, our stay could not have been better. The hosts have thought of every possible detail which made for a magical three nights.

Beautiful, comfortable and cozy place to stay in the midst of the rainforest near Volcano National Park. Beautiful wrap around porch.the staff are so friendly and helpful. Very clean and has many amenities. Small with one bedroom and bathroom. Sleeper couch and padded cushions available to make more beds on floor. Plenty of extra linens. Beautiful circular living area. Small kitchen with no microwave but everything else. The staff left milk, OJ, some condiments, coffee and a fruit basket with bagels and croissants.

While visiting Volcano National Park this was the perfect location for a couple to stay. 5 minutes from the park, shops, restaurants and situated in an amazing rainforest atmosphere! You drive into what appears to be a new subdivision with houses scattered here and there. Lots of wooded areas. The retreat is way in the back and very secluded. You park and walk through a beautiful path that weaves through the property. We stayed in a glass cottage that was beautifully decorated. There was a nice basket of food for breakfast each day. Comfy robes and flip flops to wear to the shower. The pot belly gas stove was a real treat on the cooler nights. Sleep with the blinds up and let in the natural surroundings and star filled sky. Unique outdoor shower complete with a wooden Ofuro Japanese soaking tub. I spent quite a lot of time in the 104 degree tub surrounded by nature. So relaxing! This is a 1 to 2 person tub that is cleaned and refilled after each guest leaves and is heated & filtered pure water. No chemicals. Beautiful flora and fauna on property and lovely host (that we only saw when we arrived). Secluded, private and very chill. Highly recommend this place. There are larger cottages for larger groups but our small cottage was perfect and definitely a unique experience.

Our 4th time at this unique, stunning, tranquil spacious Bamboo Guest House in the rainforest. The special managers Jenny and Danyelle are so caring and clearly love being stewards of this land and property. The staff who clean, bring breakfast baskets, make sure the landscaping is perfect all add to the wonder of the place. Love the ofuro which is placed for privacy outside each cottage! Love the serenity! Love the closeness to both the Park and the town of Volcano. Good restaurants and food trucks and art shops to explore. We stay 4 nights and easily could stay longer! A most special place!

It's rare that the pictures don't do the venue justice. This is one of those special places that you find a few times in your life, if you're lucky. If you enjoy the forest and all the sounds of it's creatures and the rainfall, you're going to be in heaven. My only regret is not staying longer. The community was just the right size to get the supplies we needed, but not too busy with tourism. The setting and hosts/manager/staff made this such a wonderful experience that we might have to get back to the big island JUST for this stay.

My wife and I had an amazing time at Volcano Rainforest Retreat for one of the legs of our honeymoon! The location was great - just a few minutes to some nearby restaurants and to the national park, yet tucked away in a residential area in a highly forested lot that felt both private and exotic. The rooms are beautiful and clean (we stayed in the forest house for two nights), the staff is friendly and responsive, and the breakfast they provided was great - shoutout to our new favorite: papaya with banana and lime juice!

The place is so serene, it’s truly my idea of a leave the world behind situation. Listen to the rain and coqui frogs while you sleep. Soak in the hot tub while surrounded by greenery after a long day at the Volcanoes park. We also enjoyed the breakfast basket provided. I would recommend to spend at least a few nights to feel rejuvenated. Jenny and Danyelle made us feel welcome and at home. Mahalo for a peaceful and relaxing stay!

Sweet, charming and comfy space. Very private and loved taking a hot tub in the forest. The neighborhood is safe and wonderful for walking to stretch in the morning. We were extremely well cared for and would absolutely recommend staying here.
