Dirty and unkept hotel, staff present does not speak Italian, room sold as a superior quadruple room, very small with no space to move between the wall and the bed, the single "beds" were a camp bed and a mattress placed on a chest of drawers, the headboard of the double bed had tears and the dust from the padding fell on your head, the bathroom was unusable due to the blocked shower drain and subsequent flooding. Breakfast with spider dust on the walls, pipes passing under the tables, splashes of various kinds in the buffet area and rags left on the equipment, broken coffee machine and minimal cutlery. A DISASTER !!

We booked for 2 nights, once we arrived, we were taken to a room which was absolutely not the superior room we reserved, we told them and we changed rooms. Not very clean, it smells old. But very well located.

We are on our 4th day of a 6 day stay here. The hotel is amazingly well located - literally 20yds from Rialto Bridge. I am disabled and walk with 2 sticks, but can be on the bride in 1-2 minutes from the hotel. St. Mark's Square takes us 15-20mins - fitter folk could walk it in less than 10mins. Absolutely perfect location. Hotel is very clean. We needed 1st floor room because of my disability. The room is dark despite 2 large windows - but this is because the building is very old and our room is decorated in traditional venetian style - dark fabric on walls etc - which adds to the character. The windows overlook the next building with us a narrow alley between - but this is the heart of Venice and what the heart of Venice is like. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel has no lift - like most hotels in Venice. We opted for half board and breakfast was excellent - self-service large selection. Plenty of food. Evening meal is only one course and whilst many of the meals were exotic and wonderful portions were small which could have been a problem, except that I love pizza and chose that each night and that was wonderful and enormous - plants for my husband to have some to fill up on after he had had a more exotic meal (eg ravioli filled with duck and truffle). We are in our late 60's, used to international travel in decent but ordinary traditional style hotels (not posh non-descrpt modern Western ones)) and we will definitely return to Hotel Graspo de Ua.

Two nights of very expensive waste on a $29 motel room. A three-star hotel it is not, barely a negative star. Nothing positive to say about the double superior room on first floor. Old, worn-out, shabby furniture, poorly lite as some of the bulbs burnt out, done in ******* house black colors with bare floors. Might be good at Halloween or in the dark ages. Door hardware barely worked with an old skeleton key and the latch was installed backwards. Maintenance was clear tape over a switch for a non-working light fixture in the bathroom for a light that looked like it was once filled with water from a leak above judging by the water stains on the ceiling. Room safe did not work. Closet was a bar next to the door which was half over a small refrigerator making most of it unusable. We would have left immediately if rooms were available at another hotel, which they unfortunately were not. Luggage storage was an unattended, unlocked, open-door room in the hall. View was an alleyway into another hotel's bedroom. Breakfast was fair if you do not eat breakfast. Coffee was ok. Location was convenient.

I had to write a review as on reading previous ones I was worried and I needn’t have been. This hotel was literally less than one minute from the Rialto Bridge the staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms were small but clean and some might say worn but I say were full of character. We had a small balcony which after a long day of walking was a haven, especially on a hot day to relax so if you get the option to upgrade to superior do so. If you are looking for somewhere to lay your head right in the middle of everything then don’t hesitate if I return I will definitely rebook.

If you are reading this review and even considering staying at this hotel, my advice would be to avoid this hotel at all costs. The hotel is in a very handy location, however it is tucked away in an alley way and can be difficult to find. Having said that it is very close to the Rialto Bridge and only a short walk away from San Marco Square. These are the only positives about the hotel. The hotel is in severe need of renovation. The common areas look like they have not seen any care in over 40 years, the rooms are a disgrace and the staff do not care. We paid for a superior room, which turned out to be on the 5th floor, the hotel doesn't have an elevator, which is to be expected in Venice, however as you are climbing the flights of stairs and notice that the banister is barely attached to the wall, you do start to worry. When we got to our room, we found that the curtains were ornamental and did not shut. However we did notice that there were shutters on the outside of the windows. We opened the first window to attempt to shut the shutter, only to find that the shutter had actually fallen off. We then went to try and open the second window to shut the shutters, only to find the window wouldn't open. So every morning at 5:30am we were woken up by the sun streaming in through both windows. We did complain about this 5 times, but the hotel did nothing about the problem. We even complained to the booking agent that we use, who informed us that the hotel refused to speak to them. This issue has obviously been going on for some time as we could see the sticky tape around the window where previous guests had obviously tried to attach something to try and block out the light coming through the window. Add to this the chair that fell to pieces when you sat on it, the appalling bathroom and the shower cubicle that wouldn't shut, the bedside shelf that was falling off the wall and the exposed electrical switches on the wall, I personally think the hotel should be shut down. It is an absolute disgrace and not fit for people to stay in

I am a 79 years old lady with a disable son, I was going to celebrate my 79th birthday in Venice, from the 26th to the 31th of May in Venice.... my flights was cancelled 48 hours before the flight (on the 24th), immediately, I contacted the hotel saying that the flights was cancelled (London Gatwick Airport) and to please to cancel the reservation, but they just apologise and refuse to refund me €1279 for 5 days, even giving 48 hours in advance ! I've ask them to change dates for later dates, C and again they refuse it! they only offer me a €200 discount for a new reservation. Now I have lost my savings of nearly 2 years, and no Holidays!! Never again!! Bad Hotel, anyway!
