Hotel Indigo Venice - Sant'Elena, an IHG Hotel

Venice City Center Venice|0.7km from Giardini Napoleonici
I have recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Indigo St Elena in Venice for 4 nights with my 18yr old son. He was due to come to Venice for a school art trip that was cancelled due to covid, and I'd always promised I'd take him. Having worked hard to finish his A-levels this summer, it was the perfect opportunity to visit and Hotel Indigo was the perfect mix of location and style we hoped it would be. Pros: *Cleanliness & Styling: The room and hotel were spotlessly clean. I adored the modern, cool contemporary styling. *Comfortable Accommodation: Though our inner garden room was quite compact, it was equipped with a very comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom. The provided toiletries, bathrobe, and slippers were appreciated touches. The garden, in particular, gave an exclusive feeling, which added to the charm of the place. *Fabulous Breakfast: The breakfast was an absolute treat! From pastries and cakes to meats and cheeses, the options were abundant, with hot options of scrambled eggs and bacon. The setting in the bar area for breakfast was also lovely. *Breakfast Tip: For Brits asking for tea, make sure to ask for milk, as it's not automatically served. *Prime Location: The hotel's location was fantastic and well-connected to the Vaporetto. St Elena is serviced by number 1 (the Grand Canel route, which can be very busy and slow but scenic), No.6, 4.1/4.2 (get to Murano on this one) and the 5.1 /5.2. We used it multiple times a day, going back and forth. The nearby Via Guiseppe Garibaldi street, with its local eateries, shops and mini supermarket, was a more authentic experience of local life seemingly popular with native dwellers with a lovely bustle about it, but not touristy like further down near San Marco. Overall I found St Elena to be a serene retreat from Venice's bustling streets. * Special mention: to the lovely older lady at reception who checked us in and out. Sorry, I should have noted her name. She wore a UK flag badge, and I think either German or Spanish one. Her English was great and she was very knowledgeable and helpful too. * Luggage storage: It was fantastic to be able to store our bags on arrival as we landed early morning. Check-in was 3 pm, but the lady (mentioned above) was very kind enough to call us to let us know the room was ready for us to access earlier. Likewise, on check out, our flight wasn't until 21.50 and we were able to leave our bags for the day and have a hassle-free full day out. Cons: * AC Issue: One downside was the AC which would only go down to 19°C, and running day and night at this temperature, the room never got particularly cool. Luckily we had some cooler weather days, but I suspect the room would feel quite warm with sustained hot weather *Tea & Coffee Refills: You are provided with two cans of water, a selection of tea and coffee and just two tiny pots of milk (1 per cup) - these we not replenished again when our room was serviced, and I had to ask multiple times for mor

Porta da Mar

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Porta da Mar Venezia. The location in unbeatable, just a few minutes walking to the Biennale Giardini and Biennale ****nal. Only 15 min walking from San Marco, so you are not in the overcrowded toeristmasses. The Junior suite with Lagoonview was very comfortable. The quality of beds , linen and towels is first class. The bathroom very tastfull and good working, so was the airco. A minibar , coffee and thea fascilities, and everything spotless clean and fresh and new. If the windows are open you have direct awsome view to the water. There is ofcourse some noise from the boats and waterlife, but the windows are very good soundproofing, so we’ve had a very silent peaceful nightrest. Giampaulo, the owner is a most friendly and kind person, and he gave us al kind of info and tips. The small place with only six rooms on the first floor is a real oasis in busy and crowded Venezia. Downstairs there is a litlle bar with terras, so from the early morning till 22.00 u you can go there for a coffee, breakfast, drinks and meals. Very reasonable priced. Compiments for the friendly girl who cleaned our room everyday. Perfect! So we felt very happy at this place, and we can strongly recommend this place. If you are looking for a fine welltasted and goodpriced room on a wonderful location. The Via Girabaldi is just 50 m away with a lot of terrasses and restaurants. We definitely will return. Grazie Giampaulo 👍🤩👍🤩👍🤩👍🖐🥂 Ignatius and Stefan from Belgium

Staff were all friendly and very helpful. Room was a bit small but we were upgraded to a room with a view over the lagoon. Breakfast was a good mix of cereals, bread, fruit, cheese, ham etc with an excellent coffee machine Location was a bonus, firstly the hotel has its own private jetty. we had taken a water taxi from the airport so it dropped us right by the back door of the hotel. Secondly although only around 10 minutes walk from St Mark's square few tourists made it this far so it was a quiet uncrowded neighbourhood with plenty of restaurants etc. The last couple of nights local deliveries started a bit early and were quite noisy. Not the fault of the hotel but, anybody bothered by this should take one of the interior facing rooms.

Very impressed by the new hotel, which opened its doors in August of 2021. Very well designed interiors, friendly staff with great recommendations and service, breakfast included and great location with a spacious broad walk right in front of a ferry station.

Good location, on the island, within walking distance of the attractions. More than 100 meters there is a water bus stop and an airport bus stop, which is very convenient. When you are tired, you can eat something in the restaurant downstairs to see the sea is very comfortable. Hotel facilities in general, although small but basically meet the needs, in Venice, this place is almost the same. I don't like breakfast, I can basically eat enough. There are no elevators in the small hotels in Venice Island, but the third floor is still digestible. I mentioned two boxes to receive my little brother and I was very enthusiastic to help me with the suitcase. Of course, I have to tip the suitcase in a foreign hotel. Although he is so arrogant, it is also a kind of foreign culture.
