Hotel Sita Palace on Heritage Ghats of Benaras

The hotel did not resemble the pictures at all. The water cut out, and the room had clearly not been cleaned or maintained. The rooms were dirty and poorly kept. In addition to this, the rooms are far too expensive. During the day, there was loud maintenance work, and the stairwell was full of clutter.

Sheets were stained and not cleaned for the whole 4 days, I had to constantly ask for new towels, toilet paper, soap, water, as nothing was served automatically. Breakfast was fine - eggs and toast. I paid for laundry and they double charged me.

Stayed here for 3 nights and chose this hotel for its location right on the river and for its wonderful view.Unfortunately the hotel was dissapointing.and seems to be trading on the fact of its location.The room was tired looking and not maintained.the floorboards were loose and insects came out from under them and jumped over the room and bed.The room itself felt quite cramped but did have air con and a fan.The bathroom was big but the bath was old and a bit stained.It had no proper shower to it just a hand held one so you had to sit in the bath to have a shower.The front facing balcony had a fantastic view of the river and Ghats.There was a roof top restaurant in the hotel which also had wonderful views.Breakfast was basic but the food at night was cooked to order and nice. The public areas and the rooms were kept clean The manager was polite and helpful. They can arrange a taxi service to and from the airport then the taxi is met and the luggage is carried by the staff to the hotel through narrow busy lanes as it is situated in Chausatthi Ghat.The surrounding lanes are full of interesting shops and cafes.It is about 5`10 mintes walk ***** the riverside to Dashavmedha Ghat where the main boat rides set off.

The hotel is perfect in the sense, that you do not find any hotels ***** the ghat's with a better location! It's right on Chausatthi ghat and the main ghat, Dasaswamedh Ghat, is only 200 meters away. We really like it for the three nights we were there and when you are in India, the "surroundings" are not always the best: The room was around 200USD per night for a doubleroom with views of the ghat, you should for sure select a room with a view, if you stay here. The bathroom only had cup-water for showering, if you wanted hot water! The room included a bench, which hadn't been wiped for centuries and a glass table, which has stripes of dirt all over it. We didn't have cleaning during our three nights there and the carpet looked like it hadn't been clean ever. The sheets were clean! Breakfast was included, but very limited - you had to ask for everything - seems to have been run by a separate owner, who wanted extra for an omelette (100 Rupees, which is a ripoff in Varanasi). Across from our window was a room with one or two old men, pissing in a cup like they didn't have access for toilets! In Varanasi many people come to live their last days/weeks/months until they die and this room looked like one of these apartments with dying people.... We really liked our stay with Hotel Sita for three nights, but people might think it's not worth it for the dirt, shower and the view to dying people from your terrace!

2 things best about the hotel is the location and Mr.Rakesh Singh ji. The hotel is off the main road so you need to walk the last 400mts. But the hotels assists with helpers to carry your luggage. Mr Rakesh Singh is the star of the hotel. He is an amazing guide. He knows the city so well and is passionate about giving the traveller an amazing experience.. specially if he is showing you the city on his bike. I had the best time and saw much more than I had planned for. Mr Singh is very helpful and resourceful person. Definitely recommend you see the city with him. As for the hotel, it could do with some upgrade. Though the room and bathroom were clean, some repair work can help with attracting more tourists as the location is prime and central. The restaurant terrace on the ganga is a good place to unwind.

Everything was good the staff was nice guest can get bf lunch and dinner according to them how they want spicy or non spicy Thanx for everything next time whenever we will be in Kashi we will stay here again and will recommend every friends family to come and stay at hotel sita and enjoy varanasi like real banarasi
