Despite some trepidation with some of the negative reviews we still spent last week at Casa Chable. You have to realise this place truly is in the middle of nowhere and incredibly special for it, it is a car and boat ride (in the dark for us) to get here and the nearest village is 40 minutes away. Because of its location and the fact this place is entirely energy self sufficient there are some challenges around logistics so be flexible, the menu changes due to what they have available but the excellent chef and team will cook pretty much anything for you if they have the ingredients. I advise letting Frida (the excellent concierge) know when you are going to shower so they can increase the water pressure for you. The beds are excellent as is the wifi, the rooms are a little tired but immaculate and I am being picky. In the scheme of things all minor issues.. the rewards are worth it. We had a beach bungalow for a week and the reward of opening the doors in the morning and having a sunrise swim was incredible, we were barefoot pretty much the whole time . Each morning they brought coffee and smoothies to our terrace at 7am, nothing is too much trouble. This is a place to slow down and enjoy the majesty of the nature around you in the Sian Kaan. We saw most people tended to stay for two or three days, in my opinion stay for longer if you can. You have no choice but to wind down. The team Celia the GM, Alejandro, Frida and the amazing restaurant crew were superb. Most of the time you feel you are in your own private paradise as you rarely see the other guests for long. I can honestly say we fell in love with the place and the people will be back. Thank you Casa Chable.

For those seeking a romantic getaway or simply a place to unwind, this unspoiled and pristine haven is the perfect retreat. If you’re traveling by car road is rough so be sure to plan to head to Casa Chable at a decent time (almost 3 hrs by car) so you’re not caught traveling in the dark. Ocean view Villas were cozy, and had AC, but it’s noteworthy to say that you’re next to the beach so you will track sand into your room. So have a pair of flip flops just for the inside. Also, only salt water for showering (this may be due to environmental factors). The reason why I rated this place a 5 is simply because we were looking to rest, relax, and disconnect. Beach is unspoiled. You can walk for miles without running into anyone. Clear & Turquoise water for miles. Watching the Sunrise and Sunset are a must here. At night there’s no light pollution, so you are able to see all stars and constellations. The food was delicious and an experience of its own. Chef was able to give us history behind every articulated dish. Staff were great and very attentive to our needs. We felt spoiled during our stay. At Casa Chable we did just what we came to accomplish… true R&R. Will definitely come here again when needing to disconnect again.

Beautiful beach, lovely staff, nice facilities, delicious food. It is a tropical paradise with white sand, palm trips and no one around. We stayed in a bungalow - nice design with a comfortable bed and all the expected amenities (bring your own shampoo and etc as the ones they offer are not great). Almost the perfect place and holiday if it wasn't for all the rubbish along the beach. The hotel cleans its own sea front really well every morning but the rest of the beach is covered in plastic bottles, and all kinds of rubbish - shocking for a UNESCO nature reserve.

****BE WARNED***** Transportation is NOT included even though the website makes it seem that way. In fact the hotel's recommended transport costs $1700 round trip from TULUM. They provided this information AFTER the 24 hour cancelation window so we could not cancel the reservation. Very deceitful tacit from a reputable resort. And when all of this was brought up immediately and refund requested, they declined to give a full refund.

The hotel is located in the Sian Ka‘an reserve, far away from the party crowd of Tulum, very quiet location. The beach is nice and you can walk for hours without seeing anyone. Really very relaxing. The hotel is spread out so also in the hotel you do not cross too much other guests. There are many places to sit and relax, be it on the beach or be it in the garden or the main house. The architecture and design is nice, the. Main house is nicely decorated. The rooms are very small so you might have issues with the limited space. The room is very basic. There is no fresh water only salt water and the water is most of the time cold, as there is only very limited hot water available. When we arrived the safe did not work, battery was low. I would have expected them to check this before we arrive. There is also nothing to wipe off the sand when you return to your room, so all sand gets in the room. The hotel can be reached by helicopter, boat or car. The road is very bumpy so the hotel recommended to come by boat. Unfortunately they did not give any information about the boat. At a cost of USD 950 for two rides of 45 minutes, I would have expected a luxury boat. But unfortunately I was completely wrong, as the boat was an extremely simple fishing boat. At the pier you have to take off your shoes to get on the boat, in the bot there is no real seat and no cushion, so it is extremely uncomfortable. People with back problems can definitely not take this boat. And you also get wet, all my bags and suitcases were wet and dirty afterwards. At least the boat ride was. Ice as you see the nature. But again why do they not inform you about the level of boat you get, and why do they overcharge you (if your rent a boat directly you pay maximum 200 USD). The staff is very nice and friendly, but service is very casual, not reflecting the five star level they claim. At least I must admit I appreciate they tried to improve some things while is was there, thank you for those efforts. What was positive was the quality of the food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all good. The prices for the food was ok. The wine prices were completely out of this world. Talking about prices: I am more than happy to pay a high rate for a luxury place, but here there is no luxury and the rates for the service you get is completely wrong. And you make people feel they are taken as stupid (other guests complained about the overcharging as well). Overall a nice place in a very quiet and secluded area, but unfortunately with very limited service and no luxury. I hope they can improve, because it could really be a nice place. For the being it is definitely not on the level you expect from a hotel that is part of the leading hotels of the world.

We had booked for four nights. There were too many bad elements to detail so I’ll summarise. They messed up our travel arrangements so on arrival at the meeting point we were left with our luggage waiting 90 minutes for their boat. The restaurant had a very short menu which got shorter by the day, as dishes became no longer available: so no berries after the first breakfast, no tacos (in Mexico!), no fresh fish and several other items became unavailable. On our last evening, with little left to choose from, they recommended the mahi mahi, not even on the short menu but it was completely tasteless, no doubt frozen. They didn’t charge for it. There was no wine list so the waiter advised us each evening of the few choices they had. By chance on the first evening we chose what turned out to be a decent Mexican wine at dinner but they only had one bottle so the next evening we chose an Albariño but there was only one bottle of that so third evening we had a choice of only three white wines. The service was well meaning but inefficient so sometimes no robes, no water glasses, no fridge refills in our room. The bar was rarely manned and we had to search for staff on the property to get served. The manager told us just to telephone 100 for anything we wanted. We did, several times, no one ever answered! Now all of this would be inexcusable but maybe understandable if the resort was full, however we were the only guests on the first evening, there were four on the second and only six on the third. These were first world problems but Casa Chable charges first world prices, and then some. Overall it was so bad we checked out after 3 nights. They wouldn’t credit the fourth night which was cheap of them but in keeping with their general ethos and it was worth it just to get away from the place.

We were on our way towards punta allen as we stopped by the resort for lunch. There, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome even though we weren’t staying at the resort. We had a delicious lunch and were truly spoiled by the staff. The road was very bumpy, but worth the adventure. Prices were very reasonable considering the price you pay for a room.
