Hotel Muare is one of the more popular hotels in the Tulum area. It is a perfect getaway if you want to have a quiet time from the hustle-and-bustle of the city to recharge. The rooms are designed to look like houses in the remote places but with all the modern amenities. It also is a great option for someone who cares about staying at an Instagrammable hotel/resort. There is one restaurant which provides good food. Negatives: -Getting to the hotel will require you to drive through really broken dirt road with several pits. -While the food options are good, if you’re someone with a dietary restrictions - e.g., vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, don’t eat red meat or raw fish, etc. you may run out of options quickly. The staff is flexible though, so they may customize few dishes for your suiting. -In general Tulum is expensive. However, Muare is up a notch. While it was a great place to stay, the price didn’t seem justifiable to me. Specially, since I don’t care as much about capturing Instagrammable photos. -While the staffs are helpful and friendly, their extreme focus on getting money out of you is just off putting. Examples: we planned to have food by the pool and it took them forever to get us the food. They missed certain items in the order. We also had issues with our food (fly in maple syrup) which was still fine (since bugs/insects can fall in your food when you live in the nature). However, when we reported and asked for a replacement, they never returned with the fresh maple syrup. Finally, I had to go to the restaurant and pick it up myself. However, when it came to asking you to pay, they would run behind you to get your sign. On top of that, there is a default tip amount included in the bill which some of them may not even care to mention to you. While checking out as well, they added a hefty service charge to the bill - this on top of the already expensive booking fee. Overall, my review is that it is a good place to stay. However, too expensive and the cost is not really justifiable. Plus for the good service they provide, it is really off putting when you see how focused they’re on getting more money out of you in any way possible.

The hotel is very small, shop, not busy and has all the luxury. The staff are ready to help you day and night. The service is good but the staff is so helpful and subdued that it feels almost uncomfortable. The breakfast is a la carte, and you will have two choices every time, very diverse and with healthy options. The hotel has a great deal of facilities such as snorkeling with a guide (including) if you wish. However, the hotel was very difficult to find algae on the beach when we were there (in July). They can do little more, it is cleaned regularly, but the split algae are kept a little next to the beach, and then removed. The location is tricky. On the one hand, very remote and on a quiet beach with enough facilities. On the other hand, if you are looking for more variation and not want to use the surrounding restaurants of ”luxe” hotels you should also have some trouble. Tulum center is a quarter with the car which is not the problem but the access to the hotel****** It is very hobbit and full of deep holes. You need to make some effort to get out there. The airport is also at 1.5 hours driving, with a lot of beach traffic even early morning (7 hours). If you want to use the restaurant, the price-quality ratio is questionable, and we found it very highly overpriced because you paid 20 euros for all simple plastic cocktails or hamburgers. If you don't find that a problem, you can get all kinds of food to your room. And lastly, the whole setting looks more luxurious than it is, and for the price-quality ratio, it must be noted that small details such as TV that does not work properly or slow internet connection become important.

Nestled amidst lush greenery, Orchid Hotel in Tulum strikes a lovely balance between natural charm and modern comfort. From the moment we arrived and were greeted with a delightful welcome drink, the tone for a relaxing retreat was set. The hotel's unique architecture is a visual treat, harmonizing beautifully with its peaceful surroundings, yet it's conveniently walkable to the city's vibrant heart. The staff at Orchid Hotel deserves a special mention for their friendly and attentive service, always on hand to help and enhance our stay. Our room was a sanctuary of space and comfort, featuring a large, cozy bed that was perfect for restful nights. The spacious shower and the private outdoor bathtub added a touch of luxury, though the need for staff intervention to empty the tub did slightly limit our spontaneity. A standout feature was the complimentary access to the hotel’s exclusive beach club, enhancing our experience with lovely seaside relaxation options. On the downside, we faced a couple of hitches. There was an unpleasant odor from the toilet that was hard to ignore, and the breakfast—despite its hefty price tag—was underwhelming in both variety and flavor. Despite these issues, the positives of Orchid Hotel overshadow the negatives. Its tranquil location, combined with the generous room amenities, friendly service, and added beach club access, makes it a place I would happily recommend for a serene getaway in Tulum.

Stayed here 6 nights for our honeymoon in Oct of 2024 in a king suite with a private pool. The hotel accommodations were very comfortable and the staff was all friendly and attentive. The hotel restaurants were also delicious and we ate room service from them quite a bit as my husband ended up sick for the first half of our visit. Only minor complaint is for more towels to be stocked in the room, felt as though I was constantly having to ask for more between swimming and showering daily. We did a couples ritual massage and hot tub at the healing spot which was nice and relaxing. Only note here is that the spot is not very private as it is open air in the courtyard so if you prefer more privacy and quiet it would not be ideal but we enjoyed it nonetheless. We have already discussed making a return trip with our friends for a group visit in the future and agree it would be hard to beat the value and amenities provided at Copal Tulum.

We enjoy this hotel so much we have stayed every time we are in Tulum! The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, the jungle view is beautiful. We have stayed in many of the different rooms but our favorite is the one bedroom suite with balcony. The terrace suite is nice too, but the terrace isn’t covered so when it rains you lose that space. We love how accommodating and friendly the staff are. I think I lost something every day we were there last time (swimsuit coverup, sandals, car keys) and they were right there to make sure I was reunited with my items. The breakfast staff was great, they made sure you had everything you wanted and again, always a smile to great you. The bar staff was excellent also, we mainly ate at the downstairs bar and had our food delivered poolside. It didn’t take long for them to know our favorites! Make sure you take advantage of the 2 free drinks and the twentyish dollars in credit you get each night. The rooftop pool is reserved for adults, but during the day if no one is up there, they did allow our son to get in (he is 10). The rooftop pool is great, it is an infinitely edge looking out at the jungle. The downstairs pool feels more intimate. The housekeeping staff is also on point, we often only have housekeeping when we need it, a few days in to our stay usually, but the day we had it done everything was perfect upon our return, and the toys my son had bought were cutely arranged on his bed (which they also made up properly for us!). The location is great for nearby restaurants (which I found to be better than the ones on the beach) and renting a car or scooter. Take advantage of the lagoon snorkeling trip they offer as well, you have to rent the snorkel gear but the entrance fee and the transportation fee are included. In Tulum transportation so expensive!! We did not do the beach transportation but they do offer that. They also have a laundry facility! We brought detergent and quarters with us. If we were to come back to Tulum we would stay here again.

We had an amazing time at Tago for our honeymoon. We stayed for 9 days. The rooms were beautifully situated right on the beach with private pools. They were also very big, comfortable and had air conditioning. It was not too busy being low season, which was perfect as it felt like everything was just for us. The food was amazing and the staff really went out of their way to make sure the trip was perfect. Betty helped book trips, activities and anything else with needed, she was amazing! Also supported by Luis and the great bartender Aimee who made some unique tasty drinks. We received desserts to the room each night and welcome messages in the sand every morning. The location was perfect and allowed for a 15 minute walk down the beach to other restaurants and cafes. Could not have asked for a better experience.

Beautiful boutique hotel with a kind team of workers! It feels like a little hidden gem tucked away off the beaten path. This hotel was my favorite part of my trip! Nicole at the front desk was very welcoming! The size of their suites is very generous and it's nice to have the space to spread out and relax. I loved having a full-sized kitchen area and they provide you with utensils, cookware, dishes, and everything you need to feel at home. The bed was on the firm side but very comfortable and it was nice to have separate air conditioning units in the bedroom and living room. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my breakfast was included each morning because I booked directly on their website. At the time I'm writing this taxis into centro town were around $200 - $300 pesos from this area and a taxi into the hotel zone ran around $40 - $50 US. I would absolutely come back!

I’m so glad we stayed here. The hotel was great and the staff was so kind throughout our trip. We loved the social hour, the snacks and cocktails were terrific. We stayed for four nights and were able to borrow bikes to ride to the beach, to cenotes, or into town. Huge thank you to everyone there, especially Daniela, Edwars, Luis, and Pedro, for making the trip so special and helping me celebrate my birthday. We already can’t wait to come back.

There is a reason Condé Nast travel ranked this beautiful resort in the top 3 of Eastern Mexico! It’s amazing, the property is kept immaculate, the service is unmatched. Overall had a great stay here with friends. The hotel advertises itself as sustainable, which I thought it was for the most part, however in terms of materials with all the wood cladding and decorative elements surrounding the rooms / pods in Tulum's monsoon-like rain during low season, it was clear this had needed to be replaced multiple times in the short time the hotel has been open, so it's debatable whether the design is sustainable. The food and cocktails were fantastic, not cheap but fairly priced for Tulum (which is pricey for anyone who hasn't been!). Great restaurant and cute speak-easy bar below. The staff were fantastic, shout out to Gus at the restaurant, who not only was one of the best waiters I've ever met (I work in hospitality myself) but also a super nice guy all around and he shared so many tips and recommendations with us. Every dish we had, breakfast and dinner, was fantastic. Only let down was the coffee, really not great. The hotel is located in no-mans land between the beach area and downtown which are separated, so be prepared you'll need taxis to get everywhere and the taxi drivers rip off tourists. We tried walking one evening but the roads are horrendous (potholes likes craters), no street lights (even the long drive way to the hotel - get some street lights for your guests guys!) and in many areas there are no sidewalks - so I wouldn't recommend walking in the dark. We were not impressed by the beach club recommendations (their partner beach clubs - they were dead / no vibe). Had a massage which was ok, nothing special. We went mid-October and experienced two full days of torrential non-stop rain, so choose your dates wisely. The hotel advertises it offers bikes, what it doesn't mention is that they charge and it's through a third-party, the cost was outrageous and the bikes were in ill repair - as a sustainable hotel I really think they should offer bikes to their guests and charge a deposit. We were looking forward to getting around by bike in Tulum but the prices really were crazy so we took taxis. We didn't swim in the cenote at the hotel as was a bit mucky. The artificial waterfall was noisy, our room was next to it. The rooms were nice (no TVs, I get the concept of switching off but as we had so many rainy days on occasion would have been nice to have one to chrome cast from your phone). The bathrooms are a case of style over functionality. Not much privacy with a free standing bath/shower but that's fine, however the water from showering went absolutely everywhere. Also the hotel is not smoker friendly, which is listed on their website but I didn't spot it beforehand. Not a massive issue but worth noting for smokers. Overall beautifully designed, very green, very peaceful, great service and above all else great food and drinks.

GGuest UserWe had an overall wonderful experience for our 7 days spent at Hotelito Azul! We went with another couple and each stayed in the Oceanfront Suites (we were above them, they were ground level). The rooms were clean and spacious. Somewhat limited storage for clothes but we made the best of the shelving/hanging unit provided. The shower is a dream. The maid service cleaned our room daily and did a wonderful job! We loved the treats left on our pillows each day. AC was yours to control. One challenge we faced that would have a simple fix was the lack of rugs in the room. You’re walking through sand to get to your room and yes, there’s a bucket of water to rinse before entering however we were desperate for a small outdoor rug or just something at either the sides or foot of the bed to brush off sand before getting in bed. Interestingly, our friends downstairs had an awesome runner at the foot of their bed so maybe just consistency with that would make a huge difference! You wake to a cute basket with coffee each morning and they will refill your drinking water as much as you need it in the room. We can’t say enough good things about the staff. You communicate to them through What’sApp which offered quick responses to any questions or concerns or when ordering food/drink. Larissa, the concierge was WONDERFUL. She welcomed us every day and made us feel right at home and taken care of during our stay. She helped fill out trip with wonderful experiences whether it be tours, great local spots for food/drink or logistics. We rented scooters from the hotel the majority of our vacation days and it was well worth it. We did find the prices just across the street were cheaper however we liked the convenience of renting through the hotel. The food and drink at the hotel is all delicious, although we quickly learned that eating and drinking on the beach does get expensive, so we chose wisely when/how much we ate at the hotel. This just comes with the location. The physical location of the hotel is ideal because it isn’t too far down into the beach strip, which traffic became pretty bad the further you drove in. The aesthetic and details of the hotel are perfect for making you feel like you’re living in a whimsical jungle. FYI to all looking to stay on the beach in Tulum, during April-November or so, Tulum gets a massive amount of seaweed that makes it nearly impossible to swim in the ocean. The hotels, including Hotelito Azul, do their best to remove as much seaweed from the beach as possible, but man, is it an uphill battle. This limited our ability to sit out on the beach unfortunately, because the only relief from the heat was the outdoor shower. Which, again, is lovely, but not the ocean. Luckily, Tulum has so many other wonderful things to do that we did not feel this impacted our trip in any significant way. Those that travel during the better months have a lovely beachfront area to look forward to at Hotelito Azul. All in all, we loved our stay at this hotel and look forward to returning in the future! Thank you all!

LLuis Fernando QuirozThe hotel is located around 1,5 km from a bus station. It was quite easy to find. In front of it there is a huge supermarket, many bars and restaurants around. The room was clean, it has all the amenities in it including beach towels. I didn’t like the service of the restaurant on the first floor. The food they served was cold, lettuce seemed to be unwashed. Tips were included automatically to the bill which I refused to give taking into consideration the level of their service.

GGuest UserMy wife and I enjoyed a wonderful 2 weeks here for our honeymoon. We stayed in villa 2 , room was big , great super king-size bed. The pool and views of the sea are amazing. Food wasn't great which is why I rated 4 stars. Everything else was amazing, the staff couldn't do enough for you, big mention to Francisco, Noemi, Jorge , and Freddy who catered to our every need, we can't thank them enough for their speedy service and attentiveness. Also a shout out to the entertainment staff Gio and Tati. To all the staff thank you so much for making our honeymoon so special. Love from Ireland to you all.
