'Instagram versus reality' is out of proportion with Zereno. The reception staff do their best, are friendly and helpful, but the overall experience is inadequate. When I think of a boutique hotel, I think of an extra step of service in everything. That is not the case at Zereno, despite the beautiful rooms and appearance. The breakfast is very minimal, just some fruit and toast. Cleaning of the rooms is not complete, toilet waste is not cleaned up daily and the waste bag from the kitchen was in the living room after cleaning. Coffee cups are not refilled as standard, the Nespresso machine looks nice in photos but does nothing without cups. There is no standard safe available and the safe that can be borrowed is a safe that has a simple lock and is not fixed. The pool looks nice but is full of leaves, even after a few days. In addition to the standard service, the hotel does not offer any additional services in the form of food, drinks, etc. The hotel is also located next to a construction site where noise comes from all day long. No net has been placed and the workers can continuously look into the garden or on the balcony. Furthermore, the hotel is located in a very noisy area, behind the hotel there is a busy street and an area of locals. The area around the hotel is littered with mountains of waste and plastic. There are constantly gigantic trucks with their engines running around the hotel. Tulum is definitely not a heavenly place to relax. It is chaotic, stinks of diesel, there is trash everywhere, beggars are on every corner, etc. I had suggested something different about this, tourism (of which I am also a part) has demolished Tulum while massive construction is taking place. At this rate, no one will be coming here in a few years. If you like good food, Tulum is a nice place, there are more than enough restaurants for a nice meal. But to travel so far for that or pay €200/250 per night?
