The hotel I purchased was not as described.  But in order: 1 Bathroom - The ceiling was dirty and water was dripping from it. - The flush was broken (after draining the water, water kept flowing) - The bathroom door was in two colors, some of the doors were painted yellow, the other was painted white - Walk-in cabin  it was leaking (if the shower head was set incorrectly, water would flood the bathroom through the leaky door during the shower)2. Room - The walls were dirty - There was a hole in the wall - The lamp shade was stained - The tables next to the beds - in one, the drawer couldn't be moved, in the other I pulled out the drawer and it couldn't be pushed back.3. Balcony - The table and chairs were black with dirt - The balcony had not been swept for a long time, there was so much garbage.  Besides, when I reported the replacement of the bulb, the mechanic came and said he would come tomorrow because the warehouse was closed and... he never showed up again.  I also had ants in the room. They were everywhere, even in the fridge (!)The rest of the hotel also left much to be desired.  The bathrooms at the bar were also not clean, e.g. the doors were black with dirt. When the bartenders threw ice into the drinks, they held it with their hands. The tables at the bar and the pool were not cleaned.  During my stay, I only saw someone wipe them with a cloth once, they were always full of glasses and spilled water.  If he wanted to sit at the table, I ALWAYS had to clean it up.The restaurant was also not without its problems.  Once someone cleared the dirty plates from the table, no one prepared it for the next guest, so when you came later you had to bring cutlery, glasses and napkins. The food also left much to be desired.  For two weeks we only had fries or potatoes 2-3 times.  There was rice for every lunch and dinner. I like rice, but not too much. There was fish every day, but fish with rice is not very good. For breakfast, ONLY baguettes and toast.  Breakfasts were served from 7.30 a.m. I went for breakfast at 7.40 a.m. (I was leaving for a trip at 8.00 a.m.) and there was practically nothing to eat.  The cooks were just taking eggs out of the kitchen, but there was no one to make an omelette, the cook was not at the restaurant.  When I was leaving after breakfast, the cook showed up.The ice cream sometimes had a semi-liquid consistency.  There were also ice cubes in the ice cream, which means that the semi-liquid ice cream was frozen again.  This may result in food poisoning.  Moreover, no matter what time you arrive, you will not even get water until 2 p.m., which is unacceptable at temperatures of 30 degrees. There were birds flying around the restaurant.  You had to keep an eye on the plate of food because the birds were just watching where they could steal food.  The birds also relieved themselves in the restaurant (e.g. the chairs were dirty by birds)The hotel is geared towards French-speaking guests.  Most of the information is only in

In the UK winter sun is a forlorn hope but Mauritius is hot, hot, hot! Yes, there may be the occasional shower but it's refreshing. Even more refreshing is the All Inclusive package at the Casuarina. We very rarely take a package but Blue Bay Travel made an offer too good to be true. The place itself is quirky and individual but beautiful. It's certainly better laid out and looking than most. The food is far above what we expected. Yes, there is always Mauritian food but we have been offered fine beef, lamb and duck too. The star however is Treetops run by Anwar. For a small supplement we had a beautiful fish night with smoked Marlin ceviche followed by Dorado. Tonight we sampled a speciality Indian night. Amazing flavours and a pleasant background of an Indian duet playing for us. This was so good... We are going again on Tuesday. Add to all of this very attentive and friendly staff and one of the best beaches anywhere just over the road and as Leonard Rossiter may have said 'You have been truly whisked to paradise' In a nutshell... It's wonderful.

We were fortunate not to be involved in the chaos that ensued at Dubai Airport due to rain thunderstorms caused planes difficulty landing on runways as they flooded due to no gutters. Normally it never rains excessively! Arrived late having had 45 minutes circling in skies worrying that we'd missed our onward flight. Arrived safely at Mauritius Airport and met by our driver for onward journey transfer to the Casuarina Resort and Spa. Delighted as our first night was enjoyed in a Cabane and then transferred to a hotel bedroom with en suite outside balcony ground floor. We enjoyed morning bird chorus, temreks, mute ducks , variety of visiting birds. Food was varied and most delicious excellent breakfast and supper buffet style. Last supper was offered and served cordon bleue style was indeed memorable. Even witnessed a coconut gatherer that fearlessly climbed up and down without any safety measures bare footed so amazing. But beware of falling coconuts! We had an excellent rapport with Rama Representative who advised us of trips, transport et al! We had a most memorable holiday and met people that had four visits to the same Resort and Spa. Last but not least everyone most friendly interesting entertainment Sega Music and Dance as well as other entertainment. Good Bar for spirit drinkers also excellent wine at restaurant! Nearly forgot top enjoyment chocolate head and body massage they are well trained ladies do as couple also went for the

This was a great value girls trip. The hotel was very clean, good access to the beach, staff very pleasant, particularly in the restaurant. Food was good and plenty of choice. We booked a couple of boat trips from Vijay on the beach, these were also excellent and great value for money. For a budget trip to Mauritius I would recommend.

Just returned from Casuarina Resort in Mauritius. We flew with Emirates through Dubia and onwards. Good flights the A380 is fab you can hardly feel it moving. I am Coeliac so I need Gluten Free food and this was provided on all 4 flights. We arrived at Casuarina early evening and were shown to our rooms without delay. Our room was a ground floor with patio, it was spacious and it had been refurbished I was very happy. The resort is old but it is original and a bit quirky but the people are friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of wild life about i.e. ducks coloured birds, lizards and the Tenrecs are about in the evening - we didn't get to see the Bats -perhaps the wrong time of year. I have to give a very big Thank You to Sous Chef Kanew and Chef Sunil each meal time they would walk me around the buffet and tell me what was GF and what wasn't and even make me something personally- thank you for your help and understanding. The entertainment was a little different but enjoyable - folk dancing - belly dancers and on our last evening a brilliant rock group that covered many modern songs that everyone knew. Mauritius is a French island but the Brits have left their mark - infrastructure is good, they drive on the Left and there is lots of roundabouts and traffic lights if you want to hire a car it is so easy. The Beach is just across the road and is white sand but a little stony when entering the water so I advise beach shoes to swim in. We booked a tour with VJ on the beach the speedboat, bbq, waterfall and moneys, it was a brilliant tour and would reccommend it. We also visited the Botanical gardens, Gran Baie and Port Lois all of which I would recommend. Thank You Casuarina we loved it.

Lovely resort everything you could possibly want lovely staff entertainment rooms very comfortable. Word of advice when booking don't use Bluebay travel the staff that represent the company here are incompetent. We asked them for help they didn't we became very stressed Abta will deal with them on our return to UK.

Stayed here for 2 weeks on all-inclusive basis. Room was spacious and clean with a superking sized bed. Fresh beach towels everyday and room cleaned daily. Quality of food ingredients was great with a suprising variety including fresh oysters, sea urchins which is something we have never seen on the menu in AI before. One star lost however due to the fact the food was often not hot enough for our taste. Did speak to management about this and they did say to ask staff and they would take to kitchen to heat up. We did this but staff said the microwave was not working. On other AI holidays we have seen microwave in the dining room which was a idea we suggested to one of the restaurants managers maybe they will make that change in the future. All in all would go again. Should also mention all the staff are friendly and the grounds of the hotel are beautiful with lovely lush planting and a variety of wildlife (ducks, geckos and colourful birds).

Just returned to the Casuarina having first visited over 18 years ago, it is just as I remembered it very welcoming and to our surprise a free upgrade. The gardens around the hotel are very colourful and the pool area is very clean and well looked after . The bar and restaurant is a short walk away . I would like to thank Mr Shiva and his team for his great welcome .
