Hotel Punta Tipa

As a very frequent traveller all over the world, let me tell you, I will never stay here again, and would recommend you run as far away as possible from this hotel!! We walked into our room to find ants all over the sink, bugs on the wall and flying around, air conditioning not working in 30 degree weather, and the bathroom roof moulded from the shower above. There is a whole in the roof which was leaking. Upon letting the staff know and asking for a new room, it was met with the staff being rude and being aggressive towards us. They came up with excuse after excuse and were very unhelpful. In addition, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and emailed them with my complaints in the hope it could be fixed and allow the rest of our stay to be pleasant. Well… I was wrong. Unfortunately, their email was unapologetic. Simply rude. They took no responsibility in terms of the room issues or their staff member being rude. They didn’t even acknowledge their staff member or the bathroom roof leak. And at the end of their email, they said they would offer us a change of room but as we weren’t at the hotel in the very moment that suited them, we were no longer willing to take that option. They didn’t contact me, or try and offer me the room change they just took it upon them selves to say it was not possible. I would not be recommending this hotel to a single person, and suggest you look at any other accomodation in Trapani besides Hotel Punta Tipa.

Perched along the coast out of the main town, the hotel has an unprepossessing exterior but a quirky and welcoming interior dominated by giant bookcases which act as space dividers. The atmosphere is relaxed. The delightful terrace and dining room overlook the sea which is a matter of feet away. The decking seemed limited but it also looked as if they plan to extend it. Entering the sea at that point is tricky due to rocks and major indents (as we were told by a wild swimmer in our party) so it could do with facilitating easier access to the sea via decking extending outwards. Further aeround the bay and also towards Trapani the beach is sand. The pool is clean, well tended and lovely. Our room was neat and clean but with limited clothes storage (only one of us could unpack) although perfectly manageable for a three night stay. A few drawers might be a thought for longer stay guests. Our view from the room was of the main road and the back of some local houses but other rooms did have far more attractive views with several at ground floor level overlooking the sea. We ate at the hotel on two nights. The food choice was wide and the food delicious. Two courses and a shared tiramasu with two drinks and water came to around €90. The walk along the bay to the town of Trapani is about 20 minutes - but a shuttle bus starts up in June. All the staff were helpful and welcoming.

Small, modern hotel right on the beach at Trapani. 800m from main Centre, which is packed with good quality restaurants. Easy walking into the town by the sea. We asked for a quiet room with a balcony and received one on the 5th floor. Modern,light and very clean. Good size bathroom with all toiletries etc. Huge balcony with fantastic views across the bay. Small beach to the side of the hotel. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful with alot of choice. We had 2 dinners in the hotel which were lovely and on par price wise with some of the restaurants in town. This is a great area to visit with the cable car up to Erice. We hope to come back.

Hotel was lovely. Good pool and right on the sea. Don't expect a beach as very rocky and you would not be able to get in. A bit far out and not many restaurants around. Breakfast was ok. Drinks as always in a hotel were a little pricey.

This hotel is located in the middle of two beaches with nothing around it. 15 min car ride to get to old town Trapani. There are 5 people working in the whole hotel, barely any English is spoken. We had two Rooms on the first floor and both rooms had ant infestation. No manager to speak to after two days of inquiring, they brought ant traps to the room and fumigated the room with  chemicals while we were inside. No one offered us a new room, any upgrade or compensation. I spoke to the receptionist and she spoke to the manager and he offered me a cocktail which I declined, rooms are tiny and you can hear conversation from outside. ( no privacy) I have never encountered such poor customer service in a hotel. No security at the hotel random people walking in and around the beach hotel. I did not feel safe. We got pool towels 1 day out of 3 and the other days they said they are not available  Never been through such chaos and poor management in my life. From the outside it looks nice but beware!!!
