"For a small town this hotel was very great. The staff were quite friendly and helpful. It was a great location to all izakyas and restaurants and the bus terminal to go to the Sand Dunes. It was also right beside the train station. The room itself did seem a bit old but the bed was very comfortable and the temperature controls in the room were easy to use. The hotel was clean. I didn't include meals with my booking but the area where people ate looked very nice."
"The hotel is conveniently located, about a 5-minute walk from Tottori Station and a 5-minute taxi ride to Hokkaido Kaiten Sushi. It boasts a nice onsen (hot spring) and was very clean. Complimentary disposable amenities were readily available for guests. On the downside, the breakfast was quite disappointing – very basic with limited variety, and many items weren't restocked, which certainly didn't justify its price. Also, be aware that if you're staying with a child in the same room, there's an additional charge of 3000 JPY per night, and breakfast for the child is extra."
"The hotel model feels like it has a history, but the facilities are well maintained and new, the lobby is bright, and it should be considered a relatively large hotel in the area. The service attitude is also very good.
The hotel is close to Tottori Station. Just cross the road after exiting the station and you will reach the hotel. There is a bus station next to Tottori Station, so it is very convenient to take a bus to Osaka, Kobe, and Himeji. If you want to take a bus to Tottori Sand Dunes, there is also a 4,000 yen taxi tour in Tottori. In short, the location is great! ! !
Disadvantages: The room is dark with yellow light, which I don't like. The room temperature cannot be adjusted. I woke up in the middle of the night because of the heat and called the front desk, who arranged for the staff to come and open the window, which made things much better. (The wind blew after opening the window, which was very comfortable ~ but it felt a bit dangerous if there were children, so it was not recommended)"
"Had such a lovely stay at this hotel! The location was fantastic — super convenient yet peaceful. One of the nicest surprises was the free ramen served at night – perfect in the cold weather, warm and comforting. It really hit the spot! 💕
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making me feel very welcome from the moment I arrived.
They also offer free access to hot spring, which I was really looking forward to, but sadly I was too tired this time. Definitely a reason to come back again soon!
A truly cozy and heartwarming stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax and recharge!"
"My two nights here were a perfect escape. The room felt like a retreat into calm. I especially loved the private baths, quiet, serene, and easy to access.
What made the stay truly unforgettable was the kindness of the staff. From the afternoon tea with a Japanese sweet served in the room to their constant thoughtfulness and gentle smiles, every detail made me feel welcomed and cared for.
My stay here will remain one of the most memorable parts of my time in Japan."
"Comments on Marumo Onsen Hotel in Tottori, Japan
Located in Misasa Onsen Village, Tottori Prefecture, it is a traditional Japanese hot spring hotel with a long history. Misasa Onsen is famous for its ”radium hot springs”. The spring water is rich in radioactive elements (trace, safe), and the surrounding environment is quiet, suitable for tourists who want to experience the culture of deep mountain hot springs. The radium hot springs (weak radioactive springs) of Misasa Onsen are milky white and have unique therapeutic effects, especially suitable for relieving neuralgia, muscle soreness, etc.
There are indoor baths and open-air baths (separate baths for men and women), which can be reserved for some time periods. The open-air baths are surrounded by mountains and forests, with an excellent atmosphere. You can look up at the stars and take a bath at night.
Some room types come with private open-air baths (reservations are required in advance), suitable for couples or families.
Catering services: Dinner offers Tottori local specialties, including mountain delicacies and seafood, such as Tajima beef, mountain vegetables, etc., with exquisite presentation and sufficient portions.
For breakfast, Japanese set meals are recommended, and the jam made from the local specialty ”Twentieth Century Pear” with grilled fish is recommended.
If you are looking for ”historical sense + healing hot springs”, this is a good choice."
"A very good hotel, it looks very European on the outside, but it is a very traditional Japanese Western-style hotel on the inside. There is a large public bath on the first floor, where you can buy milk to drink after taking a bath, and there is also a wedding hall."
"If you're only staying for one day, Tottori Station is the most convenient base. From there, you can visit Conan Town and the Tottori Sand Dunes. Just be aware that both attractions close early, and public transport also stops running quite early. So, definitely check the schedules and operating hours in advance!"
"We were given a room that smelled strongly of smoke. We spent a lot of time explaining to the front desk that the room was not acceptable and had to request a room change. It seemed obvious that someone had smoked in the room before, and it needed a deep cleaning, but the hotel had not done that. This made us feel very uncomfortable. Additionally, the front desk did not remind us about the included breakfast, so we ended up going out to get breakfast on our own on that day."
"The exterior and interior were both very clean and it was a great place.
The manager was also nice and guided me to my room smoothly.
The rules were clearly written and easy to see, so I felt at ease even though it was my first time there.
Since it's a room-only stay, you'll need to bring your own towels, toothbrushes, food, etc.
Towels and other items are cheap, but they still cost a little money, so I recommend bringing your own.
Food and drinks are only available on the first floor, so you'll need to eat here too.
I think it's best to get a drink while you're there.
It was a place I'd definitely like to use again."

Amazing
GGuest UserThe location is very good. Walk 200 meters to the left after exiting Tottori Station and cross the road. The sign is quite big. You need to swipe your card to enter after 10 o'clock. It is quite good to stay here when traveling alone. I recommend staying in a 6-person room. The toilet and bathroom are very clean. The price is relatively cheap. There is also a kitchen with a washing machine. There are also toiletries. I stayed for two nights and felt that the price-performance ratio is very high. The suitcase is placed under the bed, and there is a lock for valuables at the head of the bed. There are no convenience stores nearby. If you want to buy something, it is recommended to go to Lawson at the south exit first. It is also very close to AEON. About 5 minutes walk
GGuest UserThe room clean , 4 beded rooms is on next building , no balcony, but very spacious , had delicious dinners and breakfast cost 15+++ yen for 4 of us , breakfast start is outdoor over see the sea, nice ambience
PPhyllisThis is a special hot spring hotel. We liked the wooden furniture can smell the original smell of wood. The breakfast is delicious. In addition to Japanese style, there is also bread. Coffee is also available after the meal. Unfortunately, there is no wifi equipment in the room, and it must be used in the lobby.
GGuest UserRoom is spacious for our family of four, including light breakfast. However the breakfast time is too early…8:30am close! Staff is nice and helpful. Parking fee ¥600/night. Overall is good.
GGuest UserThe bath was bigger than I thought, and it was in a rental condition in the morning and night.
The futon was very hard on the mattress, and I slept well.
Breakfast was not too much and not too little, and it was a good amount, and I was visually very satisfied.
Location is quite tight without a car, there are not many convenience stores and restaurants around.
The room was small and I was glad that there was a sense of security like my parents' home, but first I smelled the smell of the toilet. Also, the baby of g came out and it was a little disappointing.
SShirleyIt is 10 minutes away from Tottori Station and it is hard to push luggage. The room is large but the equipment is simple, WiFi reception is very smooth. The hot springs are not very big but there are few tourists, so they can be used exclusively by one person. The breakfast is too simple, you can choose not.
__WeChat425563****The front desk service is good and the room is clean. It's a ten-minute walk from Tottori Station to the hotel. The location is good and it's quiet at night. The view of the cherry blossom trees on the riverside in front of the hotel building is beautiful. The room size is consistent with the description, and it is recommended to stay.
GGuest UserIt was a very clean and comfortable facility!
There were many hot springs and bars nearby, and we were free to come and go 24 hours a day, so we had no complaints.
GGuest UserIt was a little disappointing that water was leaking from the grip part of the shower head and the washlet could not be used.
I didn't like that the parking lot and other visible areas were full of spider webs. It's close to a convenience store, but you have to go back to the main street to find restaurants, so I thought it would be a good idea to finish everything before checking in. I was really worried about noises like footsteps coming from above. The food was delicious.
SSlimchinThe location is very good and the nearby restaurants are delicious. Parking is provided in the hotel's garage. Every time you pick up the car, you need staff assistance. Parking is in the hotel's designated parking lot. The hotel can pay the parking fee. The staff are friendly, but most of them do not speak English and communication is a little difficult. The room equipment is very historical, but the victory is clean and tidy. There are laundry facilities on the second and third floors of the hotel, which is convenient.
