Taipei Wanhua District Hotels

The hotel itself is great, with a super convenient location and excellent cleanliness. However, we couldn't get a suitable room on a higher floor. Guest rooms only start from the 8th floor, so our lower-floor room had a rather uninspiring view, mostly just rooftops of neighboring buildings. The room wasn't huge, but the layout was very well-designed; having dual sinks was incredibly convenient for multiple guests. The hotel's recreational facilities – gym, kids' playroom, and pool – all seemed unstaffed, relying entirely on guests' discretion. The corridors were rather dimly lit, discouraging any lingering. With a large number of rooms and guests, elevator wait times were long, and the lifts often felt quite crowded. Honestly, these minor issues are probably acceptable for someone just staying for a night or two on a regular trip. There were plenty of dining options nearby, so we didn't get a chance to try the hotel's own restaurants. A big plus was the toiletries; they felt eco-friendly and had a very stylish design.

Perfect location. Room is comfortable enough for a short stay in Taipei. It is near convenience stores, cafes, restaurants and about 2 to 3 minutes away from Ximending. It offers buffet breakfast too which offer a wide variety of food options (I like that they offer hot pot during breakfast) my only recommendation is maybe they should give their staff additional training in customer service as they do not greet you when go in or outside of the hotel.

The hotel had a good overall design and located at XiMenDing. Easily accessible through the Metro line.I especially love the room design where the toilet is separated away from the shower. Also prefer the room cleaning service to be in the afternoon on the next day so that we do not need to wake up early and rush out. The receptionists also will greet you warmly whenever you are coming back or going out of the hotel. The only inconvenience was probably the laundry service is not free and the dryer was not that hot despite the high temperature being chosen. The clothes were in the dryer for 30mins but there were still some parts of it being wet. Nonetheless, would still choose this hotel.

The location is not exactly central Ximending if you're looking for that BUT it is a 10min walk to Ximending if you're a slow stroller like me and I think the location is great. It's not noisy or crowded and I like how when you are walking towards Ximending, you will pass by the famous Milk Donut shop. A good morning perk up or a night snack when you leave or head back to the hotel. They're also located opposite the river where you can do morning/evening runs which my brother did. Maybe just go during high tied instead of low tied, mainly due to the smell of the river during low tied. Room size? Amazing. I was pleasantly surprise at the size of the twin bedroom. It had more than ample space to open two luggages with alot more space to dance around or chill or just put your shopping bags. A really good space.Even the doorway is big with a huge mirror. I love that the room had a window that is big enough to see the world outside. My room had a view of the river. Really beautiful during sunsets. I get very claustrophobic and alot of the hotels in Ximen have no windows so this is extremely pleasant. Bed was comfortable. There is a TV but do not expect netflix or anything like that. It's really just showing local channels. Toilet looks little old and dated BUT it's clean. It's spacious. The toilet bowl comes with a bidet (MAJOR PLUS). There is a shower bathtub situation and the water is nice and warm when I want it to be while showering so I wasn't very bothered by how it looked. Oh! Towels are amazing! The whole place, honestly, is old vibes but it's one of the best stays I've had in Taipei since the first time I started coming 6 years ago. Also very conviniently located if you take Uber often, I feel. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. It was a pleasant surprise. A pleasant stay. Will definitely come back!

The room is good enough to move around inside with two pax. We expected toothbrush and toothpaste are provided,but there was none. Rooms are cleaned daily and they also change the towels everyday. We needed a flat iron and the staff let us borrow until we check out free of charge. Unfortunately, there is no whole body mirror to check on your ootds. There’s a laundry area free to use, but we weren’t able to since we always arrive from tours late at night.Location is perfect. It is near the station and a few steps to Ximending night market.

Very convinent location close of Ximen station. Just 7-8min walk with shelter mostly. Crowded and popular neighboring thus even late at night still lots of people around. Hotel lobby is 6/F. Get card to tap the senor to get lift to 5/F, which the lift lobby is filled with salon smell of perming and conditioner chemicals. The room is fine. No smell. Probably because it's furthest away from the lobby. It's clean. Towels and water pressure and temp are OK though the mirror is slightly damaged. Overall very good if you plan go out all the time and back just for sleep. The walls are super thin though. I heard the people next door shout / laugh / scream (there are kids next door) in late evening(like 11pm). I can't hear any noise outside though. A down side of the room is the one step up to the toilet and another step up to the bed which can be inconvenient for some people. To those with long hair: there is NO conditioner for hair provided. Appreciate if Trip or the hotel can update this. Otherwise helpful staff. I heard the breakfast that they help book is famous. I didn't try though.

Perfect Location & Great Value! We had a wonderful stay at Ximen Hotel A! The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from Ximen Station and right next to the super cute Hello Kitty-themed 7-11, which was a fun bonus for photo ops and quick snacks. 🩷 The room was clean, cozy, and surprisingly quiet despite being in the heart of the bustling Ximending district. Staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was quick and smooth. We appreciated the free water bottles and reliable Wi-Fi too. It’s the perfect base if you're exploring Taipei, especially for first-timers or Hello Kitty fans. Definitely recommend for convenience, comfort, and value!

Pros - rooms are decently sized and feels new - quiet neighbourhood - decent breakfast with a view to kill - comfortable bedding - sound insulation good Cons - a good 10-15 mins walk from Ximen station. (But shopping while walking back makes you forget the distance) - as the hotel has two buildings, the newer suites are in another building connected on the ground floor with the older building. Breakfast is located in the older building so have to take a lift to the ground floor, walk over to the old building and take a lift up to the top floor for breakfast.

The hotel room was small but cozy and perfect for two. It was clean and well-maintained, making our stay comfortable. However, one downside is that the bathroom didn’t have a bidet, which would have made it more convenient. Overall, it’s a decent place for a short stay.

Service: Front counter service was very impersonal. Didn't like the idea of them giving us a list of instructions/conditions upon check-in and one of it states that we had to check out on time or be charged NTD300 per hour after the check-out deadline. Having said this, I must commend the elderly gentleman who was in charge of the luggage. He saw us approaching at the end of a long day and immediately pressed the lift button for us. Although it was a small gesture, we really appreciated it. Housekeeping personnel, too, was very quick and responsive. Room: Size was spacious, but the bed was uncomfortably firm. The room on the whole looked dated. I got a room that had no windows. Thought it would be ok to stay in a room without a window, but 3 nights was too long, and I didn't like waking up to not knowing what the weather condition was like outside. So, just a point to consider if you want to pick the window-less room. Prior to East Dragon, I was staying at another smaller hotel near Taipei main station, and the experience was the complete opposite of this hotel. The front desk personnel was very warm, the bed was super comfortable, and it had free-flow of snacks and drinks in their common dining area. They also entertained late check-outs. At the end of the day, it felt like we were coming home after a tiring day. Sadly, we did not get this experience with East Dragon. Location: At the fringe of XMD and a short distance to Ximen MRT. However, if u want to do day trips around Taipei via public transport, staying near Taipei Main Station was more convenient. In short, would I stay at this hotel again? I doubt it. For the same price, I'd definitely pick the other smaller hotel as I truly enjoyed my stay there.
