It is hard to give comments on this one. I did not know that it was a converted guest room located on the ground floor. It seemed that the ventilation of the room was not good due to the closed windows, or the raining of the past days, so there were mold smell in the room.
After I complained to the hotel staff, they told me I have to pay the difference if I wanted to change to other rooms upstairs. That made me felt that I fell in a kind of scam: I was lured into this hotel with a bargain offer but later I had to pay more than the offer price to get a room that I expected to have. I did not continue the conversation as I was on my way out. It seemed that the hotel did some efforts on reduceing the mold smell after I went out, as the mold smell was not that strong when I was back late that night.
I don't know if I missed the information or the hotel or Trip.com did not highlight the room is a converted guest room. I would not definitely book this room if I knew that.
