Hotels Near Government House in Sydney

Great location right in the centre of The Rocks area in Sydney. Located on George St, the hotel is opposite the Overseas Cruise Terminal, surrounded by plenty of restaurants and pubs and is beside the Rocks Markets that are open on weekends. While the location is superb, sadly the hotel is very much underwhelming in comparison to what I've experienced at other Rydges properties. The hotel is old, but not in an old world style, just plain old and tired. Bed was comfortable and the rooms are very much basic. Apart from a desk and chair, there was only one other chair and no lounge in the room. As a warning to anyone who has access issue, each of the floors are on two levels and the lifts don't stop on the alternative levels so you'll need to use a flight of about 8 steps between each level. My room had the shower over the bath which was only just over 3 foot long. The shower ceiling was so long that I couldn't stand up properly and the hot water was so scolding hot (obviously no tamping valves) that with the cold water on full I only just turned the hot on otherwise it was too hot. Rooms are individually air conditioned but with ours set to 19.5° it was still really warm. The TV is so low it's near impossible to watch from the bed (remember no lounge or table to sit at) and really needs to be mounted on the wall. On a positive the staff were really good, friendly and helpful, though I was alarmed to watch the young lady checking people into the restaurant for breakfast, walk past and pick up a piece of bacon from the surface area beside the bowls and toss it back in with the other bacon and then mix it in with the rest.

Some rooms are on ground level with the street, otherwise nice and clean hotel with friendly staff. Perfect location.

As a frequent attender, I'm very happy to see this Hotel's facilities has all been renewed very nicely. The service provided by the team was kind and friendly. I recommend choosing the harbour-view rooms, especially the larger one for best experience.

Located in The Rocks, walking distance to Circular Quay. Need to be a mountain goat to walk here, especially with luggage. Once dropped off, explore the beautiful Rocks area. I caught the train to Circular Quay, where the Opera House and Harbour Bridge is. Then walked up many, many stairs to get here. Well worth it. Very modern, even though it's built over an archaeological site of part of the old Rocks area. Beautifully done and preserved. Room was very modern and clean, albeit expensive for a double ensuite room. But i did not mind paying for the location and cleanliness. Bathroom modern and clean. Lockers available for long term hire. I can not rate it highly enough The rooftop of this hostel!!?? Absolutely second to none. Perfect views of the Opera House, Bridge and harbour

I stayed at Crown Towers Perth in Sep 2022 and June 2023. I also stayed in Crown Towers Melbourne in Dec 2022. Thus, the next logical move is to stay in Crown Towers Sydney to complete my experience in staying at all 3 Crown Towers Hotel in Australia. I finally did that. Stayed at Crown Towers Sydney from 3 Nov to 8 Nov 2023. Today is 8 Nov 2023 and I will be checking out shortly. I stayed at an opera king room which has views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. The room was very well lit and nice. Just the appropriate size for a sole traveller. I also managed to try most of the restaurants in Crown Towers Sydney except Yoshii Omakase which is so hard to book and Silks. I did not managed to book Yoshii even when it opened for booking. Guess too many people booking. I tried Epicurean for breakfast, dinner at A’Mare, Nobu, Woodcut and Oncore by Clare Smyth. I did not try Silks since being an Asian Chinese, I normally do not eat Chinese food when I go holiday. Got to try other food instead. My favourite restaurant is undoubtedly Oncore where I ordered the 7 course seasonal tasting menu. Superb. Woodcut was also good where I ordered their sirloin steak. Nobu was also nice as it completed my tour of all 3 Nobu in Australia having previously eaten at Nobu Perth and Melbourne when I stayed at Crown Towers there. For Nobu , I ordered the X Haku Omakase which is 5 course. The star of the course was the lobster. Overall I have enjoyed my stay in here. As Sarah Brightman is coming to Sydney in Aug to Oct 2024, I have already booked my tickets to watch her performance at Sydney Opera House in Sep 2024 and also booked a 4 night stay at Crown Towers Sydney again. For the future, I do hope Crown Towers Sydney can have a Crystal Club for breakfast like what Perth and Melbourne has. Also, hope to see more shops/entertainment areas at Crown and also a provision/gift/snack shop here at Crown Towers Sydney.

I’ve noticed aggressive feedback below and I want to advocate this awesome place. I’ve stayed in the room in March and then In June with my partner.I confirm that WiFi requires attention since it’s too too poor but I’m glad that while I was here, the management has been working on that issue. That’s true that Reception isn’t 24/7 but this is Boutique Hotel for people who aren’t familiar with term, it doesn’t mean luxury all inclusive Conrad by Hilton hotel that’s why don’t expect room service, 24/7 front desk service, towel swans and etc. In addition, beautiful and friendly ladies at the reception go extra miles to ensure that you feel comfortable and like at home. The room isn’t big but stylish if you’d like more space go for room with balcony and you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea,which you may find at the reception complimentary, early in the morning looking at the Potts Point. Besides, LOCATION, this is the best,the most convenient location in Sydney! You can walk to Opera House,CBD or get the train to Bondi Beach staying away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Also, Potts Point has a soul and you may be bewitched by the spirit of this area. To sum up, don’t hesitate about the hotel, it’s gem of the area and you can definitely enjoy the time here if you don’t expect more than the hotel positioned itself. P.S. We stayed for two nights at the end of May. Our room was quiet & clean even if in need of a refurbish, which presumably, going by the building works going on, is in progress. The building works didn't impinge on our stay at all. Our breakfast (which was included in our room rate), was surprisingly good. The area it was served in was very clean and bright. We found all the staff to be pleasant. Being able to checkin & checkout on line made things move quicker, especially the checkout. The cost of accommodation in the city is very high so we were pleased that Song Hotel was a bit more affordable to us.

I had such a good stay there. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were particularly excellent - every person was incredibly kind and friendly. Binay was really lovely and helpful and Jandro, the manager was wonderful and always had an incredibly welcoming smile. I wasn’t expecting such a good experience considering how cheap it was, right in the heart of the city, but the hotel ticks all the boxes. I would definitely recommend this, and I’ll definitely be coming back!

The location of Mercure is very close to the Central Station, which is very suitable for families like us with elderly and children. The staff at reception is very nice and helpful. She suggested us to sign up as a member so we could park at a discounted rate of $45 a day (the original seems to be $49). We were charged $1 which seems to be a deposit when we registered Check-in there. There are swimming pool and fitness facilities on the 14th floor. During our stay, we called the reception for the services. The staff came to our room quickly to provide services. In addition, maybe we stayed during the Christmas period, there was a draw. Were were lucky to win the prize. My child was very happy to win a toy remote car, which added more joy. We had a good experience with our stay. The hotel staff we met there are very nice and helpfiul. If we go to Sydney again, we will consider Mercure again! 🙂🙂
