We have been welcomed by the owner muttering, whilst on the phone, "wipe your feet on the doormat before coming in". Once we were inside, we smelled the stale scent of carpet and immediately thought some water and soap could help. The main courses were decent but bland, prices were steep but expected. The surprise came with the bill: they overcharged the wine by £16 (they amended it after having told them) and they charged our table £24 for 9 bite-size slices of stale bread and a can of pitted olives from Tesco. We found the overall experience soulless, you could do so much better than this

Views are to die for... Staff are great. Food delicious. Rooms are dated, given it is an old building, large comfy bed, but shower doesnt stay warm enough to enjoy. Bathroom as mould on ceiling and broken floor, not what you expect for the price, but you are paying a premium for the views.

This is a unique hotel. I can't give it five stars as the negative reviews below reflect the fact that the decor in the rooms is out of date. BUT the location of the hotel is spectacular with great views and coastal walks. AND the staff at the hotel are fantastic: they have all worked there a while, are dedicated to the place, and are really friendly and helpful. PLUS the food is very good, so they clearly have a good team in the kitchen as well. If you can look past the faults in the building you'll find a place full of character (and characters!).

Owners please call fixer Alex Polizzi for help now! The hotel had the vibe of Fawlty Towers and was furnished like a care home in some areas. The building is in a quiet cliff top location with stunning views. It could be a winner! It needs investment, leadership and design thinking to bring it up to date and replace the many defects.

As locals, we used to frequently call in at this hotel for coffee. However we won't be coming again with a tiny hot chocolate (with no trimmings), from a faulty machine costing £5.50. We have been informed that the owner has recently put the prices up. (A packet of Crisps also costs £5.50). These prices are not on the hotel website. It would be cheaper to go down the road to the 4 star Calyon Bay Hotel or to Costa. My wife also reported that the ladies' toilets had used toilet paper all around the pedestal.

Booked in for Christmas lunch, as I recently moved and am without a kitchen, and thought I would keep it local and at a hotel rather than a pub. Big mistake. Was asked to pay for everything up front including a bottle of wine. Got there, had a drink at the bar and then shown to table. That was the good part! Worst 3 courses of slop I have ever had, even the gravy was like coloured water. The staff were young and clearly didn't want to be there. I had to chase up my bottle of wine and at no point did anyone ask if our meal was alright (common courtesy in hospitality)! When the dessert turned up I took one mouthful and told my daughter I was leaving and we upped and left. I was furious as I had been charged £90 per head (excluding the wine)! The whole experience ruined our Christmas day. I was so angry I put a post on social media along with photos. The hotel responded as expected saying I hadn't given them the opportunity to respond. No apologies no partial refund, nothing.
