Courtyard Shreveport Airport

Last night we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Shreveport Louisiana near the airport. It looked online to be a freshly renovated and updated property. When we arrived, we, hands down had the worst room experience we’ve ever had —period. We arrived and everything looked fine, the hotel sign was new branding, the landscaping and building looked brand new, ditto the reception area and lounge. But as we headed for our booked 2 room king , the corridor looked a bit dated, well, okay we’re not staying in the corridor. There also was an odd odour though, again we can deal with that. We opened the door to to our room to a full on disaster. The room smelled like a skunk and one that perhaps in its past had smoked. After turning on the lights (not all lights worked) we discovered a room well beyond its prime and I would say embarrassing to Marriott. We’d expect better, it was dismal. The furniture was dirty, a sofa bed looked dirty and broken down, I wouldn’t get too close to it to try. I opened the drapes and the windows were too filthy to see through. The carpeting had seen better days, the closet had no doors. Thankfully the linens on the bed seemed okay. Lampshades we’re scuffed broken or stained throughout the room and not all fixtures worked. We went for dinner, returned and the room odour was still disgusting. Thankfully this was only for one night, unfortunately there were not a lot of choices in the area and we were tired from a long day of driving. Upon checkout the pleasant woman at the front desk, when I started to tell her, about our room, she looked at me knowing exactly what I was going to say about what we had experienced. She went on to say politely that they had renovated from the outside in and the rooms hadn’t been done yet. She was very pleasant and I know it’s not her issue it’s a corporate issue, but she’s the customer facing representative, thank goodness she was lovely and offered to request extra points for us for the experience. Thank you for your efforts. To corporate that’s not the point, your product was subpar, and did not meet expectations. I feel for the operator of the hotel who has to face us customers as a result of corporate decisions. That room should not have been sold to us let alone loyal bonvoy customers. If that was the best room you had I am shocked. Tonight we’re in a lovely Towneplace in north San Antonio at RIM, night and day. Thankfully.

PLEASE BEWARE! I travel for business year round and have for more than 20 years. This is by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The worst part was taking my drivers license, copying it without permission, and not returning the copy when I checked out. I was told it was hotel policy in case of damages. In the morning, I told them I would gladly wait while my room was checked for damages, but insisted on getting it back. They refused. At first saying they did not return these copies, then saying it had been shredded last night. This made no sense. I further insisted on knowing what happened and where the copy was. At this point they threatened to call the police. I was not being confrontational so I was taken aback by this move. That being said, I certainly stayed to discuss it with the authorities. They told the officers the copy had been shredded. I did not believe this but agreed to leave. This was the most combative situation I’ve ever been confronted with at an IHG property. I’m a Diamond Elite with them and very loyal. However, this is making me consider changing hotel brands. Please understand, I do not want to be critical. I’ve never written a negative hotel review, but this is too much, too far. I have filed an official complaint with IHG, have a case number, and waiting to hear back.

It's 10PM and I'm arriving in Shreveport for my dad's surgery in the morning. I called the Hilton to confirm that the hotel knew I was arriving late, and I was informed by the front desk clerk that they were oversold and did not have a room for me, but that they would walk me down the street to another hotel that was used for their overflow. I asked if it was equivalent to the Hilton in ratings. The answer was no. The reviews for the other location were terrible. When I asked why I was not notified that they had no rooms, the desk clerk responded that the day shift must have been busy. So was I!! I told him I was not comfortable with the ratings of the other hotel and their reviews for cleanliness were not good. I asked if there were other options? The response was, ”No, but if you want to cancel I can refund your money.” I told him that was really nice - especially since they didn't have a room for me. Seriously?!?!!!! Done with Hilton. I frequent the Omni and Hyatt for both work and pleasure weekly and never has this happened. Really disappointing and super frustrating - not to mention inconvenient as I'm trying to find another locations to stay. So much for customer service and reservations. Thank you Marriott for coming to the rescue and even offering a discount.

Party of 5 booked 3 rooms. All sheets were dirty and stained!! Fans in room to replace A/C. Lights in bathroom didn't work. Called front desk for new sheets and was told they didn't have any. Went to front to get refund and check out, and there was a line of people complaining about the beds. They were also told the hotel had no extra sheets. The owner who lives on property was then called to front desk. We asked for refund gave our reasons which included the couple that was in the hall fighting for 30 minutes. He yelled ”no refund its after midnight”. We then called the police to address the domestic dispute and to see if they could help with refund. The owner who wouldn't give his name continued to argue with us saying no refund. He was RUDE, LOUD AND ARGUMENTIVE!The police could not help with our refunds but they did investigate the fight in the hall which the owner failed to do. Our party left the hotel at 2 am and drove back home. Now we know it is not the Hilton but if you don't even have clean sheets to offer your guests you need to be closed down. DO NOT STAY

The room is large, the health is good, the faucet water flow is not big, the water flow in the bath is normal. The only flaw is that the elevator is too old and I am a little worried about sitting.

My husband and I frequent this hotel a lot when we are visiting Shreveport. This happens to be one of my favorite hotels due to its proximity to 3132, I-220 & I-20. However, I have 3 issues with this hotel. First, the rate that is now being charged is ridiculous considering that the rooms are in dire need of upgrades. The sofa was badly stained and simply needed a good steam cleaning to at least make it presentable. Housekeeping needs to start checking the fridge in the room to make sure that it’s working because ours struggled to get cold. Secondly, we checked in on July 2nd because we were flying out the next day and we checked in again on the night of July 7th after we flew back into Shreveport. On both occasions, the front desk person did not acknowledge us for being Diamond members nor did they give us the water and snack in the baggie that we typically get at other Hampton Inns. My husband had to ask BOTH times which he should not have had to. The staff needs to be trained on the Hilton Honors program. I’m sure it takes little effort to look at the reservation and see the individuals status. Lastly, I can’t stress this enough, but PLEASE train the front desk staff to ask for ID before releasing a physical room key. My husband and I always do digital check in and then he goes to the front desk to get a physical key. The goofy hound man working on the night of the 7th couldn’t program the physical keys to the room right so he used a master room key to let my husband in the room. After my husband tried to get into the room twice with the physical key, the guys came to let us in. Also, there were issues using the digital key at outside entrances. I saw others having the same issues. Someone had to open the door for us to let us in. Nevertheless, I sincerely hope that some changes are made at this hotel because quality has decreased but the price has increased. I won’t stop staying here due to this but I will start checking the room before bringing in my bags and accepting it. I’m not sure if there’s new management here or what but the Hilton honors thing has never been an issue until now.
