We (a family of four) had a lovely stay in Tingtao Inn. The guesthouse is situated in Walnut Grove and is surrounded by a garden with flowers and fruit and walnut trees. It is a very quiet place. All you can hear, is the sound of the roaring river and the crickets. All the meals are freshly prepared by the family with fresh vegetables and fruits from their garden. Even meat (chicken, porc), fish and eggs are from their own farm. The rooms are relatively big, new and clean and most of the rooms have great views on the impressive mountain range across the river. The family that runs the guesthouse is very friendly and can organize trips and transport for you and, on some days, can even accompany you during hikes. We did four unforgettable trips in the surroundings. One hike following the upper trail of the Tiger Leaping Gorge with beautiful views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and passing several waterfalls. Another hike directly from their house along the Ray of Sunshine trail and down to the river at the middle gorge (tiger leaping stone) with fantastics views of the turbulent water and rocks in the water that can be reached via a suspension bridge. A third hike, also from near the house, took us to the lower gorge all the way down to the water level again with amazing views of the gorge. During our hike on this short but steep trail we did not meet a single other person. We also visited Baishuitai with its colorful limestone terraces.
To experience the peace and quietness of this place, the freshly prepared and tasty food, and the kindness of the family, it is really worthwhile to stay at Tingtao ("listen to the waves") for several days. Our children did not want to leave and still talk about our wonderful time there.

We stayed in a clean glass Starry room with a magnificent view of Tiger Gorge valley. Room has modern toilet facilities. Outdoors was rustic with many fruit trees and vegetables . Fruit trees of all sorts were available like figs, plums, peach etc etc. Many different type of organic vegetables can also be found and cooked by owner who is a good cook. We were well taken care of by caring owners! River can be viewed easily by just a short walk away. Was a memorable stay!

I rarely write reviews of accommodation when I travel, but I think I should write one this time, just to let more people know about this place. This trip to Tiger Leaping Gorge was a spur-of-the-moment decision, so there was not much room for choice when booking accommodation. I found this inn on Ctrip, which felt a bit remote, and thought it was just a one-night stay, but it was far beyond my expectations.
Before checking in, the boss called and said that you must use Baidu Maps to navigate to the store. Gaode can only guide you to the main road to work. He also specifically told me that the last section of the road is a small road. If you can't drive, tell him and he will help you drive the car down. It was already night when we arrived. The boss was very enthusiastic to greet us at the door and help with the luggage. We checked in quickly and asked if we had eaten dinner. After learning that we hadn't eaten yet, he took the initiative to recommend his own chickens, tomatoes, eggs, and vegetables for dinner. The dinner tasted very good, sweeping away the fatigue of the journey.
The room facilities are not luxurious, but they are very warm and comfortable to live in. The inn is backed by Haba and faces Yulong, with the endless Jinsha River in between. Just like the name of the inn, "Tingtao Yage", you can fall asleep peacefully in the sound of the Jinsha River.
