Metropolo Jinjiang Hotel (Shanghai Changxingdao)

Chongming Island, Changxing Island, Hengsha Island
The room was clean and tidy, and the things were well equipped. This price is in better condition. The hotel warmly helped upgrade the room to a Fengya twin room. The surrounding environment is very good, life, daily necessities, restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries are complete. It is very close to the country park, 3⃣️, 4⃣️ kilometers away. It is also very convenient to order takeaway!

My family truly enjoyed staying in this heritage hotel during our recent trip to Shanghai. The interior is classic and nicely decorated. Location is great with many good local restaurants just next to the hotel. The metro is just at your doorstep. It is within walking distance to the Nanjing pedestrain street and the bund (around 20 mins stroll) or you can just take the metro for 1 to 2 stops away. Will definitely stay again during my next holiday to Shanghai.
Jinjiang Metropolo Classiq Jing'An Hotel

Jing'an District/West Nanjing Road
Beside the very kind guy who checked me in on my arrival (unfortunately I don’t know his name) and the lovely Ayi taking care of the 8th floor, the staff is overall quite not professional and not exactly what I would describe friendly. Pity because the hotel itself has been a surprise, well located, well designed and well maintained. Quality of the decorations are “entry level” I would say but the overall design is anyway well done, comfy and pleasant. Breakfast, Chinese style, is quite poor in terms of quality and options. Good option for its price-point but I would definitely consider some extra training for the staff….and maybe a bit newer soundproofing windows in the rooms.

As mentioned in my previous review, we stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during our first stop in Shanghai and 1 more night in our second stop. This is the review for our second stop. When we checked in the 2nd time, there was no warm welcome. In fact, the receptionist had a sour look on her face, not friendly or welcoming at all. We don't remember her name, it was Fanny? Fandy? Anyway, she said that our bed was 1.5 meters and asked if we wanted a bigger bed at 1.8 meters. We realised this was somewhat similar to how when we first checked in during our 4 nights stay. This was exactly how the hotel reception would ”persuade” you into paying more for your room. They will either say things like, ”Your bed is small. Do you want to upgrade?” or ”Your bedroom is facing the aircon vents. Do you want to upgrade?” All this scheme in getting guests to pay more than what they have already paid for is really unethical. We have stayed in many hotels in many countries and have never come across such tricks before. On top of that, we stayed at several other hotels during our visit to China, and all other hotels gave us excellent service. This was, unfortunately, not the best. After these 2 experiences, I'm sorry to say that we will not return to this hotel the next time we visit Shanghai.

The hotel upgraded the room for free, great hotel! The room is large, with rich facilities, and a smart toilet 👏! Very close to the subway entrance, parking is also very convenient! It was quiet at night and slept soundly! I lived with my children, and my children liked it very much. It was the best place to live here along the way!
