I really struggled whether or not to give this a four or five star review. If I could give both, which I guess I can when I check the boxes before submitting, I would give the service 5++ stars, the property itself 4 stars, and I honestly don’t know how I would rate the location. Sooo, The Service: This property allows you to check in early, which is super convenient. We were immediately greeted by Sonia, who is a gem. We were given a tour of our room. There are two breakfast time choices, which was nice because sometimes you want to move on with your day and sometimes you want to sleep in. Daily room service was not provided, but they immediately restocked our room when we asked. The staff has struck the right balance with breakfast service. As this is an inn and not a B and B, the owners do not live on the property, nor do they come and hover uncomfortably. The young ladies doing breakfast answered all our questions and engaged in conversation at the right times. They even offered to pack a to-go breakfast when we had an early departure. The staff is top-notch. The Room: There were some quirks and minor issues with our room. The tv is inside a mirror, which creates a glare when watching. It took a long time to get hot water. The hot-cold are opposite of what is labeled on the bar sink. There were two cozy window nooks in the room, which would have been wonderful for reading, but the only thing in them were standard dining room chairs. The window AC unit is not covered in the winter, allowing cold air to creep in. It was a good thing we had a fireplace. The bathroom faucet had a rapid drip, which we reported at check-out. Good things about the room were the cleanliness, spacious closet and shower and very comfortable mattress and pillows. The mattress and pillows are dealbreakers for me. The Location: The inn is in the Victorian District. It is a long walk to River St. and to most other attractions, except for Forsyth Park and the Mercer-Williams House. If you are in good shape, it’s doable. There is also free bus a block away that is handy in the daytime, but it doesn’t run late in the evening, so you will need a car or ride service to get to the River St. entertainment area for dinner. I would not walk that far after dark. Good things about the location (and the reasons we chose it) are that it’s quiet, it’s two blocks from a large grocery store, and it has FREE PARKING. Most of the other historic properties we looked at had terrible parking options. One other thing that made me choose this property is the cancellation policy. While not as flexible as a chain hotel, it is much more forgiving than the other historic properties. This is important when traveling in the winter, when bad weather and illness are more common. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, but would suggest a car unless you’re comfortable with Uber. We didn’t have any trouble using the parking garages near River St.

The accommodations were comfortable and we didn't want for anything. We slept well and easily - beds and pillows matter! The staff is friendly and eager to assist; they also allow for plenty of independence. They serve a fresh-cooked breakfast to the guests and we enjoyed hearing about others adventures during their stay. The home itself is spacious, bright and inviting, with beautiful period detail. It is near the Forsythe Park, the largest of many green areas about the city. There's a great youth vibe all about and copious options for yummy dining.

Stayed 5 nights at The Catherine Ward house and it was great! Sonja the General Manager was very responsive to emails and informative of the area. The room was clean and they changed the air filters the day we showed up. The bathroom was stocked with the essentials, we had bottled water given to us and the first day we arrived a very nice staff member, Samantha, volunteered and went and got a gallon of unsweet tea for me without hesitation. The staff was very nice and the breakfasts cooked by Rebecca were great. Very accommodating staff. The family style breakfast was great conversation and it was great meeting people of all over the world. I would highly recommend staying at this beautiful house. My wife and I had a wonderful experience. We will be back.

The gals that run this B&B are delightful! It is a charming place to stay, super handy to Forsythe Square. I'm so glad Sonia suggested in our confirmation email to make dinner reservations for our stay and offered suggestions. Each breakfast was delicious. We were in the Captains Room on the second floor. It was beautiful. My only suggestion to them would be to put in different carpeting. The indoor/outdoor woven rattan like rug was great for the stairs up to the rooms but it was in our room and most uncomfortable on bare feet. It was a beautiful, but long walk up to the river area, where it seems most of the better dining is. We enjoy walking and loved seeing the shops along Bull going thru several of the squares. But for those that do not enjoy that much walking, there is a free bus service and there is a stop just about a block from the B&B. We would absolutely stay here again. The staff is friendly, the rooms are charming, the ease of driving to get there was a breeze. There was plenty of parking in front, but they do have a parking area behind them as well.

My husband and I have stayed in > 60 B&B's and the Catherine Ward House is definitely in the top tier! The early check was such a gift as most inn check in time is several hours later. The Cosmopolitan Room was wonderful, beautiful and spacious. My (61) yr old husband sleeps like a teenager and our own porch was a perfect spot to enjoy the quiet mornings until it was time to wake him for breakfast. The bed was so comfortable it indeed was difficult getting out of! The proximity to town was excellent- a lovely 20 minute stroll through many different squares or a free bus (for husbands that don't love to walk as much as their wives). The downtown felt like Boston's Back Bay with such quaintness, history and beauty. The delicious breakfast was often 2 meals for us as we ate everything offered (as well as the cookies left out) and didn't need to eat again until the late afternoon. Would highly recommend Leopolds for an ice cream dinner! The rooftop bars over the river were fabulous places to have a drink and watch the sunset. The free air conditioned ferry across the river was an awesome choice on a hot day. Touring the air conditioned Cathedral was most enjoyable. We rented a car and enjoyed Tybee Island but it's not necessary as Savannah is a very walkable city! We loved it @ the Catherine Ward House and would highly recommend to anyone looking to spend time in a beautiful, historic, fun city!

First, Sam is exceptional & she made my stay exceptional. My room was beautiful & quiet & within a few steps, opened onto a lovely courtyard & Koi pond. A convenient location, close to Forsyth Park & very walkable to downtown & River St. Free parking. They accommodate gluten free and dairy free diets. It isn't handicapped accessible due to multiple stairs.

This was an oasis in a very busy Savannah weekend. I stayed during SCAD graduation weekend when rooms are hard to come by. The Garden Room was my home for the night and I look forward to staying again. It was spotless, cozy, and comfortable (probably the most comfortable bed away from home). Breakfast was gluten free (baked oatmeal, baked peach with whipped cream and bacon) and delicious. Very much appreciate being able to eat everything on the plate!
