The hotel is located in a tranquil bay where there are very few people. There are practically no waves in this bay even in bad weather. This allows you to swim without any problems. At the same time, you can get to the city center, markets, or shopping centers from the hotel by a very cheap taxi (from about 15 yuan) in 10-15 minutes. Or you can go out and have lunch or dinner in local cafes nearby. The hotel territory is large, where you can calmly walk and admire the views. There is a swimming pool and a cafe where you can eat and enjoy cocktails. Breakfast is organized as a buffet with a variety of dishes, where everyone can choose what they need. The rooms are very clean (cleaned twice daily) and have everything you need for a comfortable stay - robes, towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and much more. The hotel staff is very friendly and always ready to help.

I picked this resort as it seemed to be high quality and close to the beach, and both of those things were fulfilled. The room was huge with an amazing view of the ocean and fresh fruit was surprise delivered on the first day. All the staff was wonderful, and Marnie did an incredible job being my WeChat butler, she helped me with anything I asked, and even asked if I wanted different pillows for the bed, what amazing service! The breakfast buffet was outstanding, both Chinese and western breakfast, much of it cooked to order. The location is not too far from Sanya and close to Yalong Bay train station, so very convenient. Also right next to huge duty free mall with many restaurants, and more authentic food and shopping experiences a short drive away. The pool was lovely and the aquarium was full of beautiful fish and turtles. The beach is basically on site, past a lawn from the main building, but it is not supervised and the currents are apparently strong, so swimming is prohibited. I visited the nearby ”super luxury” Atlantis to check out the bar there, but I'm happy I stayed at the Intercontinental since it's much quieter and much more relaxed. It's not cheap but it's one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had.
