Wecamp San Sebastián

Great for a family stay. Probably better in peak season - facilities limited in late October.

I was calling to the hotel reception many times to inform I made a mistake in the booking dates and nobody picked up the phone. I realized about this after the free cancellation period I know, but it's very sad not to find a solution considering is high season and they could have rent my room to other customers and I can have the money back to change the dates. I lost the money 😭.

We arrived at the site in our twin axle 8.3m motor home. It states that twin axles are welcome. We were allocated pitch G23,however although this was advertised as a 70m2 pitch there was a well established tree right in the middle. We asked for a different pitch and were told the site was fully booked. There were clear larger gravelled pitches empty. We asked if we could change to G22 and reception agreed. Again another well established tree on the pitch but slightly over to the side. We had to manoeuvre and reverse on to the pitch opposite us to get on. The pitch was very wet and muddy but we asked one of the staff putting gravel around if he could put some on ours, which he did. The access roads are very narrow. We paid for 3 nights ( most we have paid all holiday @ £40 per night) and when it came to leaving we had to ask the newly placed van opposite to move off their pitch so we could get out. Hedges need trimming, no hand wash facilities in toilet areas. Some pitches on slopes very uneven. Would not stay here again. Definitely would not recommend it. It is not suitable for motorhomes and definitely not twin axle ones.

We arrived in our VW Transporter campervan and were allocated a pitch at the top of the site. Across the road were the parking pitches but we'd selected a larger pitch as we were staying for two days. It was the end of the season so most of the static cabins were empty but touring pitches were busy. We were next to the road but it quietened down and we were able to sleep soundly. Smart card tickets for the bus are available from Reception and the No.16 takes you from just outside the campsite to the city centre via the base of the funicular railway. The campsite had everything we needed and San Sebastian did not disappoint.

Fabulous site...only writing this because of all the negative reviews I saw......dont be put off!...pitches fine hedges in between, we have 7.25m motorhome no probs and there were far larger vans thab ours...yes there are a few with trees in middle,but not many....great bar and restaurant, sky TV lovely pool still open late September which is Unusual....bus outside site every 20 mibs to San Sebastian....lovely town, one of the best.. out of the 12 sites on our trip, this is one of the best...dont be out off by negative moaners .....enjoy!

Was very concerned having seen the bad reviews on here, especially as travelling with small children. However we were quite impressed and left happy. The location is great, with a regular air conditioned bus every 20 mins. The staff were very friendly, and the facilities were all new. The swimming pool was good, and the bar / restaurant. The busy road is closed off by a newish fence so wasn’t concerned about the children’s safety. My only negatives were that the pitches were very small, could just fit our caravan and awning on, but there is a car park just across the road (less than 1 minutes walk). The other negative was the cockerel that started about 3am, however if we turned our fans on in caravan this would cover the noise up. In summary, we would definitely stay here again, San Sebastián was amazing and felt like Rio de Janerio, spot on beaches and good surf, the kids played all day. Because the site is so close you have to expect it to have small pitches, and they can’t help it if neighbours keep animals. I think a lot of the buildings seemed to be recently refurbished too, it was all good.
