Beautifully appointed hotel in the old town with fabulous views over the bay. The roof terrace is a treasure, what a place to enjoy a late afternoon drink and watch the sunset! The staff were all very good - everything was made to feel effortless and we had a very relaxed stay at the hotel. Breakfasts were excellent and hats off to the team - they were so organised and friendly - just like being in the best pintxo bar in the old town! Only feedback for future guests is that you can't sleep with your window open due to the all night noise in the old town - the rooms have excellent windows and block the noise but you need the aircon (we don't like aircon so we didn't sleep as well as we're used to as a result - I can't fault the hotel in any way but just feedback for others.)
unfortunately the room was not so clean on arrival, we found dark hair in the bathroom and a soft drink bottle with cigarette stubs on the balcony. the room had a whirlpool, however, the hotel staff explaining how it works only spoke local languages. we decided to have breakfast outside the hotel as it was extremely expensive. The hotel is the only 5 star that we found directly at the beach. Parking was very well organised and directly in front of the hotel, the beds were good and so was the shower and bathroom facilities. Next time we would look for a hotel with better value for money.
Amazing stay for San Sebastián. Older Victorian style villa converted for boutique hotel use. Excellent concept and room! Cleaning staff was thorough and all staff was amazing and helpful. Didn’t spend much time on the property but no need as the city itself is amazing.

Akellare is among the nicest properties I have had the grateful opportunity to visit over a full lifetime of travel. It's architectural character is itself a stunning fit to its environment, but the architectural restraint featuring the property's landscape, allowing and yielding to Atlantic views framed across the Basque country seaside is brilliant in all ways, sight, smell, sound and touch. Akellare allowed me to feel the quiet, and its correspondent peace. The staff at Akellare are sincerely warm, kind, attentive to any and all needs making me feel not only cared for, but wanted. And the restaurants need no comment beyond their historic acclaim, other than to say the dining surpassed even those highly lauded expectations. Akellare is a pinnacle experience, there is none like it. My sincerest thanks and appreciation to the Akellare staff, all of them, for creating such a special experience, and to Relaiscand Chateaux for helping to bring that magic to reach around the world.
Looking for a few days away with my husband, San Sebastian was the perfect choice. After much research we decided to stay at Nobu San Sebastian, this 5-star hotel offers breathtaking views of La Concha Bay (from all areas of the hotel) and combines traditional Basque charm with sleek Japanese design. The rooms are super stylish and comfy, and the amenities are first-rate – think infinity pool, fitness centre and electric bikes available for guests to use. The customer service second to none, nothing was too much trouble. The highlight was by far, dining at the Nobu Restaurant, where the fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavours with fresh local produce is simply incredible! The hotel is perfectly located within a stones throw of Ondarreta Beach and La Concha Promenade. Nobu San Sebastian is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the beautiful old town with its famous restaurants, bars, and historical sites. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to mix relaxation and good food with a bit of culture. We would highly recommend both San Sebastian and Nobu Hotel and restaurant for your next weekend away.
In July 2023 we were travelling around in Spain without much of a plan. That is great of course but also comes with some challenges. For example, we ended up in San Sebastian during a festive week without any hotel reservations. Not our best idea as most hotels were fully booked. Luckily the Hotel Antik had one room left, so we decided to book the room as the reviews were pretty good. The hotel lobby is neat and looks up-to-date and the hotel is nicely located just outside San Seb. Enough public transport to take you to the city center. After arrival we first checked out the room... Well... That didn't meet expectations to say the least. The room was very, very old and falling apart. It was noisy (think the noise came from the elevator?), the toilet was standing loose on the floor and the water kept running, dirty shower curtain... I honestly don't know how (or when) they got a 4 star grading or such a good reviews. Maybe we just had the worst room in the building but I don't think it is worth the money unfortunately.
Positive - The staff worked very hard to engage and make your stay pleasant. Helpful and responsive to feedback. Negatives - Location is odd. While walkable to the main attractions, it can be quite a walk and if the weather was bad too long. There are taxis and you could learn the bus system but its a long 20 minutes vs a short 20 minutes. Mattress uncomfortably hard. Bathroom has all sorts of design flaws that lead to wet counters and sinks that don’t really drain. If the key isnt in the slot there is no water. The worst part. Each evening my room smelled of stale tobacco. Not sure if wafting in from outside smokers, apartment building next door, or the aircon venting system but each night I fell asleep to stale smoke. Cool enough to open windows but then you hear noise and get smoke. By morning it wasnt there or during the day so I suspect the source is real and not my imagination. As far as roof deck, I had forgotten it existed. I did not see signs in room or elevator or comments from staff encouraging use so forgot. Maybe it would have been pleasant? I was on 4th floor and my view was the apartment building next door. Breakfast was OK and there is also a little a la cart coffee bar with breakfast sandwiches if you prefer to skip the buffet. If I visit again I would pay more to stay closer to old town or Gros. Didnt find the hotel comfortable or well situated. The staff do make an effort and I give 3 stars for that.
I stayed here while visiting San Sebastian bars.
It was very close to the old town, and there was a supermarket diagonally in front of the hotel, so the location was very good.
The room was clean and the staff at the front desk were very nice and made me feel comfortable.
Quick Notes: Great Value The beach is a 7-10 minute walk Lots of close restaurants and bars The more quiet side of San Sebastián Outstanding Front Desk What a splendid hotel! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this NH, which felt like a perfect place to retire for the evening after a long day on the beach. My room was modern and spacious - and the room service was phenomenal. The front desk staff was particularly helpful whenever I had questions or needed help with something. This NH might also have one of best burgers in Spain. The restaurant downstairs was also phenomenal, and the cocktails were on point.
I really loved my stay at Hotel Niza. The hotel is simple but wonderfully located, clean, well renovated, and has lots of charm. The hotel is one of the best placed in San Sebastian, right on the Conxa beach and within walking distance of all central attractions. I booked a sea view room and the views are spectacular and I loved it. One thing to note is that sea view rooms do NOT have air conditioning unlike square facing rooms and even in early June, mine got very hot. The hotel can provide you with a small fan (though I'm glad I asked as noone had mentioned it to me!), and as someone who doesn't use air conditioning at home myself, I was absolutely happy to have the view at the cost of a bit of warmth, but I suspect that many people (not least those visiting from parts of the world where air conditioning is ubiquitous) might prefer to take a room overlooking the back (also pleasant though not as much as sea views in my opinion) particularly in spring and summer months to have a fresher environment. I read lots of reviews complaining about the lift - I found it great myself. It works perfectly well as long as you do what you are told and close all the doors, and it is full of charm (and I was thankful for it given my 6th floor room!) The room was very clean, shower room well renovated, and bed comfortable. In my views, apart from systematically putting fans in sea view rooms, what would improve the rooms further would be a mini fridge (when it's warm it would be nice to be able to keep water cold!) and coffee facilities in the rooms or at least in the reception area. Still, I liked the hotel a lot and will certainly use it again when returning to beautiful Donostia!

AAya✴︎Pros:
- cozy and natural woody taste room which is definitely my type
- water is free of charge if you ask the front
- sunshade was smart enough to be controlled by buttons
✴︎Cons:
- no place to get foods besides the restaurant located inside the hotel
- ordering by an item is not available for at least the lunch time we went, had to order 2 items for each person including dessert
- location is a bit far from the busy area of San Sebastian however taking taxi only took 12-13euros even at night, and taking a bus is easy on the way since going to the bus stop is really within a minute.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel if you are easygoing to get around taking a taxi and a bus and rather sleep in a quiet area.
GGuest UserUnfortunately the hotel was a little underwhelming for me. We stayed for 3 nights at the City room, which says it can come with two Twin beds, a double bed, Queen, or King-size. I must have been unlucky because we had a double bed and room was tiny (there is no way a queen or king size bed can be included in the room). The layout was very odd: room was very small but it had a wide entrance and sizeable showers and toilet which was as big as the room. The only positive was the balcony which was quite nice (and big!). The breakfast was quite nice with plenty of choices so we enjoyed that. The other positive was the nice rooftop pool and lounge which would be nice during a hot summer. The gym is pretty good for the hotel, you can get a good workout here. And the indoor pool/sauna is delightful. We spent a few hours here relaxing (and inclusive of hotel price). However,i would also say the location is not ideal for us. We only had 3 days and most of the attractions are located and tours in the old town which was 15-20min walk away, so as we spent a lot of time there with rests in between day and night, we spent a lot of time walking back and forth which became tedious after a few days. When I come back to SS i would likely find a hotel closer to the old town. This is just my recommendation though.
GGuest UserWe chose this hotel for our express exit to Donosti in accommodation and breakfast and we loved it! The room is very beautiful, modern, well equipped, the comfortable beds, a very chill-glass shower, the very soft and absorbent towels, hair dryer ”real” (not the powerless tube that usually offers other hotels), The hotel is located in the heart of the city centre, and the hotel is located in the heart of the city centre. The room was very comfortable and the room was very comfortable. The coffee shop despite being capsules offers a very rich coffee without being the ”aguachirri” you usually find in hotels. Personally we loved it. We were left two posts and a welcome note with a bottle of water. We recommend it and if We'll return to Donosti without doubt to repeat.
TTsuiThe hotel surpassed our expectation, very pleasant stay, the service is unbearable especially the breakfast, talent made most of the items, personal touch which is hard to find these days elsewhere. Very new and chic design, small and feels home away from home. Definitely will come back again when we visit the city!
Two nights in Donostia San Sebastián with a guided walking tour booked for our full day in the town. The hotel is really comfortable and the staff are all truly lovely. Our room had everything we would want but like so many Spanish hotels they don’t provide tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We travel extensively in Spain and bring an aero press coffee maker, its small and convenient for travel. We have a small travel kettle and bring coffee. Milk is more challenging now as since Brexit milk and milk products cannot be brought in but that can be addressed with a bit of planning. That said, breakfast starts at 07:30 and the coffee from the machine is actually OK. A good selection of breakfast choices including bacon and eggs. What we do like about this hotel is the staff. All are friendly and smile all day long. The young girl at the bar was really friendly and we felt welcomed and comfortable. Plenty of comfortable seating in the bar area and food can be obtained via the bar menu. We however chose the restaurant both evenings and were so so impressed. Our food was excellent and we were looked after both nights by two different but equally attentive, professional staff. I didn’t get the name of the waiter on Tuesday night but he was delightful. Thursday we chose the tasting menu and so glad we did. Every single dish was superb. A special mention to Irina ( Irene?) who served us. The restaurant was really busy and she was on her own waiting on tables. She was friendly, charming and helpful even though under pressure due to the volume of diners. She did a fantastic job. The food here is some of the best hotel food we have had. All food and drink is on a pay at the point of use, no putting it on the room but for us that worked really well as the room was prepaid so checkout was quick and easy. Just leave the key in the box and go. WiFi is excellent. If you are driving there is parking in front of the hotel but not enough spaces if the hotel is full. There is parking opposite. The hotel is situated on a hill, and I mean a hill!!!! The walk into town took about 25 minutes. We discovered the taxi rank right by the bandstand near the seafront and it was only €8 to get a ride back up the hill. If you are visiting the town you will have a comfortable welcoming stay here but come thinking “ taxi” to get back.
GGuest UserVisited here last month and just wanted to state how good the hotel was and more importantly, we couldn’t speak highly enough of the staff. The town is less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel - the route is fairly steep but manageable. Would not hesitate to use this hotel for our base once again. Good breakfast for a reasonable price and also free parking which comes in handy.

Excellent
I liked this hotel! The location is great, only a 10-15min walk from the center. There’s lots of services around as well as buses etc. The reception is tiny and can be crowded at times. At first we had a double room (with two twin beds as requested) but it smelled of cigarettes so we were given another room with one double bed. I think that they should have knows the room smells (as it had been cleaned after the previous people left). The room was spacious and modern. The bathroom was a little small but it was ok. Our room faced the courtyard and was very quiet. There was also a balcony. The breakfast was good with a nice selection of savory and sweet items. On the day of checking out we left very early (before 6). The breakfast has already been set so we asked if we could grab something to go (our booking included breakfast) but we’re declined this opportunity. This seemed a little strange as we had paid for it and would only had taken a couple of croissants. So not a bad option at all, but service could have been better.
3305SimonPWas very concerned having seen the bad reviews on here, especially as travelling with small children. However we were quite impressed and left happy. The location is great, with a regular air conditioned bus every 20 mins. The staff were very friendly, and the facilities were all new. The swimming pool was good, and the bar / restaurant. The busy road is closed off by a newish fence so wasn’t concerned about the children’s safety. My only negatives were that the pitches were very small, could just fit our caravan and awning on, but there is a car park just across the road (less than 1 minutes walk). The other negative was the cockerel that started about 3am, however if we turned our fans on in caravan this would cover the noise up. In summary, we would definitely stay here again, San Sebastián was amazing and felt like Rio de Janerio, spot on beaches and good surf, the kids played all day. Because the site is so close you have to expect it to have small pitches, and they can’t help it if neighbours keep animals. I think a lot of the buildings seemed to be recently refurbished too, it was all good.
