DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cariari San Jose - Costa Rica
4.1/5111 Reviews
This hotel rocks! We stayed here the first night of our trip, and were welcomed by the kind staff and some of the FRESHEST and WARMEST TASTIEST free cookies upon check in. By the end of our stay one of our relatives literally hoarded the cookies, asking for 4-5 per day. The pool was very pretty, and the breakfast was so fancy, aesthetic and tasty! The rooms were nice and cool, very clean, and had a great selection of TV channels. On the last night of our trip, we had initially pre-planned to stay at this one hotel in the forrest, but our party decided to leave because of a number of concerning observations. We were all exhausted as it was the end of our trip, and needed somewhere to stay. Immediately everyone started chanting that they wanted to go back to the DoubleTree. We arrived and everyone sighed a relief, and we went to our warm beds with our cookies!

The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Barcelo San Jose this Gorgeous building, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms and high quality service. Casa Conde Hotel & Apartamentos

When you first arrive everything looks good. A nice charming setting, pool area looks nice, grounds are well kept, security 24/7. However once you start to settle in you notice the little things that aren’t quite right. For starters, I never had hot water in my room (512). At best it was warm enough to stand under for the duration of your shower, but other days it was ice cold. I thought it could be because my room was located in the main building with the kitchen, but other guests in the building said they had hot water, so who knows. The shower/water pressure was also horrible. The water sprayed half out the side of the shower head, leaving little to come out of the shower head. The suites come with 2 bedrooms, living room with cable tv and a full kitchen with table and chairs. The beds were fine, and there was storage to put your things away if you wished. However the safe did not work and there were no dishes or cookware in the full kitchens. I heard you have to ask the front desk but I never tried. The bar only opened on Thurs-Sunday and the pool and hot tub closed at 10pm. Breakfast was included and it was from 6-10am every morning I believe. The selection was limited but there was a custom omelette station I heard was really good. Security was great and all the staff was very friendly. Overall it was a good experience. Other than some updates, nothing to complain about.
Costa Rica Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belen

There is nothing to say about the environment. You can play golf on the prairie 🏌️♀️, and you can graze cattle freely. Standing on the balcony on the fifth floor, the breeze blows your face, and you feel comfortable physically and mentally; the breakfast is rich, and all kinds of meals can match your demands; There is no welcome bottled water, etc. This part can be improved in the future.
Costa Rica Tennis Club & Hotel
3.5/526 Reviews
I spent three nights at the Costa Rica Tennis Club Hotel and hated to leave. Based on some of the reviews, I was hesitant to book but because it has a 25m pool I decided to give it a chance, and booked for one night. The staff was friendly, the room was updated, and clean, and the sports facilities were fantastic so I booked for two more nights. I am a swimmer and loved having an 8 lane competition pool available for daily training. I also used the gym which had a great variety of machines and weights. There were courts for every type of racquet sport, a basketball court, pong ponf, a bowling alley, a second pool, steam room and sauna, massage therapists, a pro shop; and more! There also is a nice sports bar where the complimentary breakfast is served. If b be you take it out in the patio you can watch folks running. Online skating, cycling and horseback riding. To top it off, the price was under $60 per night. I would think a day pass to a club like this would be around $30+ so this is a great deal. If/when I return to San Jose I definitely will plan on seating here.
Adventure Inn

Adventure Inn really does feel like home in San jose. The ease and comfort they give you in a 10/10. From the shuttle service to and from the airport, an amazing complimentary breakfast and a beautiful/fun environment. I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now and I wont stay anywhere else in San Jose. Eric is also a great communicator and replies very quickly to any question you have. Also they make the BEST pina coladas! And their restaurant is also incredible. Thank you to the staff for always being friendly and helpful, and big thanks to Eric for making this place so easy for travelers.
