Perramont Hotel

States “European style”. I agree. Small rooms. Bathroom in the hall (single & locks). Shower in the hall (single & lockable). Kept clean. Quiet. Perfect location for us (right on Market, couple blocks from Castro, right near Becks Motor Inn, another great place). Has TV, small desk, bed, sitting chair, chair side table, bedside table, and sink. That’s it. This hotel is made out of an old converted dorm or inn… similar to a hostel but w all separate rooms. I heard the bathroom door once, the whole night, only had to wait for the bathroom once, and felt clean, safe & comfortable. Some loud music from the next door restaurant/bar, which stopped around midnight & wasn’t bad, but hey - this is The City, so wutevs. Only reason for one less star has more to do with the inconvenience of sharing a bathroom/shower… But for the price? Compared to the Parc55 or Hilton or whatever? This place was pretty darn good, and the staff were very friendly. Will stay again.

I'm a solo budget traveller (not a young student) who just wants a clean, well-located, quiet, and safe European style hotel, or what the Germans call a Gasthaus. If that's what you are looking for: this is the place for you. If you are looking for an American style hotel with a breakfast buffet, people to carry your luggage, and mints on your bed, this is not the place for you. Some of the bad reviews are obviously written by those types of people. In Europe, shared bathrooms are common. The ones in this hotel are super clean. Every room comes with a clean, modern sink and mirror, with hot water. The walls are a bit thin, but the guests are pretty respectful. The one thing I wish they had was a small common area and a coffee machine. I've stayed at a few places like this in San Francisco and think that overall, this is the best one.
