My first stay at this location of the Canopy brand in SFO, for business. From the first moment I arrived, I was disappointed with the impersonal check-in process, with no warm greeting or overview of the hotel and nearby neighbourhood. The front desk staff didn’t seem to be happy to be there, nor interested in sharing any information about the hotel or amenities. They also kept texting my personal cell phone to ask about my stay, which I understand is an attempt to follow up on service, but frankly I find a bit intrusive. The common areas are stylish and welcoming. The lobby bar is large, and there is a nice coffee shop connected to the reception area. The rooftop bar/restaurant is great, though pricing is extremely high and frankly a bit of a put-off. The rooms are just Okay - small, minimal, and adequate. Similar to a Moxy's Deluxe room, but twice the price. Very minimal room amenities outside a pod coffee machine. Soap and toiletries are from a pump bottle. One critique however, it was clear that everything in this hotel is geared towards squeezing out every dollar available from their guests. Was surprised with a mandatory $30 'Destination Fee' (not mentioned in the booking process?), a convenient way to get more revenue out of guests without upping the rate. Then escalated to $13++ bottle of beer, $7 drip coffee at breakfast (imagine the margins on $7 for a cup of filtered coffee), and outrageous pricing on other F&B, I opted not to eat at the hotel after my first morning. I also noticed on my departure parking is $75/night! The neighbourhood itself is a bit empty. There is a metro station right next door, which is handy, but otherwise not much in the way of restaurants or shops nearby, so you will likely need to be taking an uber/taxi anywhere you want to go. In summary - If you're going to spend a lot of time in SFO, or don't have any specific reason to be in this area, I would probably stay elsewhere and save yourself a few hundred bucks.
