Avoid this hotel at all costs, especially if travelling alone. I originally booked 2 nights. I had to cancel the first as my travel to St Louis was delayed. I called in advance and the guy on the desk was fine with it. I checked in the following day. The place was a dump but for one night, I figured it would be fine. When I checked out the following morning, the rate I was quoted (and have in print!) of $125 had suddenly become $180. I didn't want to argue, so I paid. The guy was sleazy and kept saying he wanted to keep my $50 cash deposit as a tip. I had to tell him I didn't think that was fair, seeing as $55 bucks had already been added to my bill. Several weeks later, and once back in the UK, I checked my bank statement only to see they have taken $415 from my account. This is basically stealing. I have been trying to get in touch with Americans Best Value Inn Downtown St Louis, but the complaints form does not include this one as one from the drop-down menu. I wonder why? It's a total scam and the place is filthy. Does anyone know how to complain to this particular hotel? They owe me $268!
