Protur Sa Coma Playa Hotel & Spa

Loved this hotel with a few exceptions, the food, the pool, and the confusing what is in and what is not all inclusive set up. The general cleaniness and staff at the hotel were great, the area was full of shops and the beach was lovely. The biggest issue was the quality of the food at the buffet restaurant as it was very often overcooked, tough, tasteless and bland. The menu looked amazing with fish, lamb, pork in a variety of guises, but once cooked you needed a spare set of teeth to get through it. Even things like the bread was a tough as old boots. The other area that was disappointing was the lack of snacks and food alternatives during the day, if you want any food from the pool bar you have to pay for it which was confusing for an all inclusive hotel. Ultimately this became a bit of a running joke on the holiday and thankfully we were able to get into a couple of the themed restaurants which were very quiet, even though they were allegedly fully booked, but the food was very nice and we ate our fill. The pools are another point of contention, we had a room with a shared pool, but the pool was tiny, far too small to be shared by 10 rooms. Also the shared pool is borderline dangerous with steps that are unevenly spaced, included the final step which was at least a drop of 12 inch's. The other big problem with the pools were the chemicals used as they stained any light fabrics that came into contact with the water. All our swimwear is now ruined and will need to be thrown away, along with the cover up dresses and t-shirts we used near the pool, which is an annoying additional expense. Unfortunately the food is so bad that we would not recommend or return to this hotel unless there are massive improvements.

Beautiful looking pool areas, and a swimming pool room which we booked to swim in with our new 6 month old daughter looks and sounds amazing. Don't be fooled people! It's just 22c! All pools even the indoor one was freezing so lots of sun not one person in them! Ridiculous. Save your money go somewhere where they heat the pools!

Lovely hotel, our 4th visit. Staff are super and location is good. Hotel has has a refurbishment but we were very disappointed by the air conditioning which was extremely poor, worse than it was in previous years. Also there was a terrible problem with the pool water - it seems to now be being treated with a different chemical, instead of chlorine - but the pool water very quickly turned ALL of our swimwear green, very green, and they were all ruined - it didn’t wash out, even with proper fabric wash, I even tried soaking in vinegar! It didn’t wash out once home either and has permanently stained green and ruined all our swimming costumes, rubber parts of my child’s goggles, and my watch strap. Even my daughter’s skin and hair turned green and it would not wash off!! I complained to management several times and they fobbed me off saying it was due to sun cream but it was not this (I went and bought 3 other makes to try) and the green staining was happening to everyone. This for us really spoiled our stay, along with the very poor air conditioning and because of these 2 faults we will be unlikely to return, which we are sad about as it used to be an excellent hotel, it was previously faultless, but the manager has changed in the last couple of years, and the hotel appear to be trying to reduce their costs, the quality of the food was also noticeably less good than the previous year. Overall, disappointing.

Just returned from 11 night stay at this lovely hotel. When you arrived you pay tax we paid £62 for 2 for 11 nights. You also need a card when you check in for anything charged to your room. Newly refurbished is nice modern and very clean. We booked a swim up room which was lovely and spacious and came with flowers in there room and a bottle of cava. Bathrobes and slippers and towels in the wardrobe. Large bathroom with shower and bath. Good air conditioning large tv and all lights controlled from a panel. We did have a couple of issues - an invoice was put under our door the morning after we arrived to pay the tax but luckily we had a receipt to prove we had paid it so if you pay by cash always ask for a receipt. The shower leaked Everytime we used it but someone came to look at it and resealed however it did still leak a little. There is a fridge in the room with drinks which you have to pay for. We stayed half board and breakfast and evening meal included all food was really good and lots of choice however restaurant does get busy at times and you have to queue for food. We used the adult pool area which was lovely and quiet and had a small bar for drinks. Always beds available. The choice of drinks was very good cocktails excellent and freshly made no pre made rubbish. Prices were reasonable too. Plenty of activities free at this hotel to do. We would definitely return but don’t think he would pay the extra for a swim up room again as we didn’t really use it.

Stayed at the hotel in September for a week with my partner on a half board package. Very helpful and friendly at check in with a free car park. The hotel is modern and very clean. The room was very nice and large. Both of us are vegetarian and there were always plenty of options for the evening meal even my partner who is quite fussy didn't struggle. Breakfast was the same everyday but there was enough variety to have different things. We tried the Indian restaurant one night and it was okay, the starters were good but one of the Currys was quite vingery. The drinks were priced pretty similar to the local bars and had a decent mix of cocktails/ spirts. All the staff were very friendly. The entertainment was pretty average. Not the hotel but found the area to be quiet in the evenings, the only busy bars seemed to be English/Irish bars sadly. We hired bikes for the day for free from the hotel which was nice to go to the castle and to cala bona along the front, we didn't do any other activities but looked like they had a lot on offer all quite reasonably priced. Only a 10 minute walk to the beach and plenty of shops nearby.

First time in Mallorca so first time at this hotel. Did not disappoint. Lovely quiet location. 2 good pools (adult one lovely) tho the main one never busy. Food consistently good and always plenty of choice even when going in later in evenings. Friendly staff. The resort itself was charming with lovely nature reserve by beach.Evening entertainment was ok. The bands, duo's we enjoyed. Shame more people not going to the entertainment and usual annoying young children running across dance floor when acts are on. Only downside and thats not due to the hotel just some guests ! if we return to this lovely island this will be our hotel.
