Travelodge Ryde Isle of Wight

The hotel is new but room is small. Location is good.

This little hidden gem was perfect for a place to lay my head at night. Super clean, modern, had all the basics. Inexpensive and centrally located to good food and pubs and transportation.

I don't leave reviews, but my experience at the Ryde Travelodge was so underwhelming, I feel compelled to share it. From the moment we arrived, the overall atmosphere of the hotel felt tired, neglected, and far below even the most basic expectations. The room was incredibly basic — and not in the minimalist sense. Worn furnishings, thin walls, and a musty smell made for an unpleasant stay. Cleanliness was questionable at best, with visible dust in corners and a bathroom that looked like it hadn’t been properly scrubbed in weeks. Customer service was disinterested and barely helpful. Any requests we made were met with either indifference or delays. There was no warmth, no hospitality, and certainly no sense that guests were valued. The communal areas were just as bad — poorly maintained, and simply depressing. There was no charm, no comfort, and nothing that made us feel welcome or relaxed. This wasn’t budget accommodation — it was just low effort. Travelodge is known for simple, no-frills stays, but this location fell well below even those modest expectations. I left feeling not just disappointed, but genuinely frustrated that this is being offered as acceptable accommodation. I would not recommend the Ryde Travelodge to anyone. Spend a little more and stay somewhere that at least respects its guests.
