Simple, modern hotel within easy, level, walking distance to City Centre. Rooms comfortable and clean. Odd pattern in floor looks like Munch’s “Scream”. Small ensuite shower room with toiletries. Small details such as soft-closing doors and carpeted corridors reduce any noise. The only noise was from traffic, if the window was open. We were on 3rd floor but used the stairs because they were wide and shallow treads. There is a lift. The buffet breakfast was very good. Something for everyone, including vegans. The quality of ingredients was excellent and the choice better than in some 4* hotels. All staff were very efficient and friendly. They speak English. We enjoyed our stay there. Tips - There is a Carrefour Express round the corner on Rue Pasteur. Next to it is a very basic looking cafe, which serves surprisingly good simple meals. Staff helpful in both establishments. If you cross the main road outside the hotel, you are on the river. Walk along for 5 minutes to reach the Entrepot Food Court, which offers several different types of cuisine.

The hotel was comfortable, clean, quiet and an easy walk to the main Cathedral in the centre of Rouen. Rouen was a stopover from the west coast of France to Calais. It was a bit tricky navigating in and out of Rouen but a good number of parking spaces at the hotel once there. Overall well worth the extra effort to see Rouen. Beds were very comfortable, shower great, TV large, decent size, and all clean. No tea and coffee making. Breakfast was generally good with standard French buffet. Staff helpful and friendly. Only small downsides were that some of the car parking spaces were smaller due to trees. Also the room card keys needed quite a few goes to open the door. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
Response from Property: Hello, We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel. Our customers' satisfaction is our main concern and it's always a real pleasure to read comments like yours. We look forward to welcoming you to the B&B Rouen Centre Rive Droite for your next stay. Yours sincerely Pauline BASTIDE Operations Manager

I've given this a 4 rating - it's not a 4 star hotel, but is very good for its type. It's a Travel lodge type 'budget' hotel, with good standards. I stayed 4 nights on a Leger holiday. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The rooms are fairly basic, not very large, but serve their purpose for sleeping and showering in. The décor wasn't particularly to my liking, but it was clean and comfortable. As a solo I had a big double bed. Those that were sharing a twin bedded room did say that the single beds were very narrow. The shower is very good - others have mentioned the step into it, but I solved this by dropping down the shower mat onto the floor to step down on to. Didn't find the actual shower particularly slippery, but there are no grab rails. The air con worked well, very adjustable, plus you can open a window. Breakfast was very good - cereal and muesli, hot food (scrambled egg and bacon), fresh fruits, bread and rolls, a toaster, a small selection of cold meats and cheeses, yogurts, croissants, cakes etc, plus hot drinks and fresh fruit juice. All buffet style. There are no evening meals apart from pizza ordered at the bar. Didn't try these, but others said they were tasty. The hotel is situated about 3 minutes walk from the Seine - from there it is a nice walk of about 10/15 minutes along the river to the edge of the main town - at your entry point you are in the old sector and market place where there are lots of lovely restaurants, cafes and bars. Then about another 5 minutes walk to the centre. Outside of the main entrance has been pedestrianised, so can't be used for drop offs. If you're on a coach it has to park about 100 yards away and you have to carry your cases, though our drivers offered to help anyone who might struggle. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

Staff were extremely helpful and informative, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel I would say is of an average travel lodge style. The beds and pillows were comfortable with an open hanging/shelf area in corner of the room but, unfortunately, there was no drawer space. The towels were changed and the room cleaned on a daily basis but before this took place, the bathroom tended to be a little smelly. There was a seating area for breakfast and light snacks situated near the reception area . The establishment was sited near the university/student accommodation and within easy reach of the river Seine where a multitude of restaurants could be found. It took a good half hour to walk into the city from the hotel with several historic areas of interest. It seems to be in need of little updating and would recommend for short stays.

Typical commercial type hotel. Rooms are adequate, very compact, good hot shower, beds comfy. Superb breakfast. Only option for evening food was Pizza, so after a busy day you will have to go out to find a proper meal. Parking available although we did not use.

Small, basic room that was hotter than Hades! The air con didn't work, in fact it heated the room! We did ask reception to sort it but no action was taken so we slept with the window open trying to ignore the noise of cars and trams and waking every few hours because we were too hot. I dread to think what it would be like in summer unless they sort that out. The beds are very narrow too. The shower is up a step with no grab rail which was rather scary and there was one thin towel each. Breakfast was okay. Best bit about the hotel is the location as it is right next to a tram stop and an easy walk into the centre but that didn't compensate for not sleeping properly.
Response from Property: Hello, I'm sorry your stay didn't go well. In fact you came on the first days of fine weather in Rouen but the hotel was still set to heating mode because the day before it was 5 degrees outside. The hotel has now switched to air conditioning and if you come back to sleep at the hotel, the problem you encountered during your last stay has been solved. Concerning the shower, it is 20 cm higher. We have adapted rooms with shower rails and a walk-in shower (PMR room), which you can request from reception beforehand. I remain at your disposal for any further information. Best regards,

We stayed here for 4 nights on a coach tour. The room we had on the fifth floor was not good. It badly needs redecoration, there were black mould spots on the ceiling above the "wardrobe" and a black/dirty frame on the wall where a picture had clearly been taken down. The bathroom was fairly clean but there were no handrails in the bath to use the shower nor was there a non slip surface or mat in the bath. No kettle, tea or coffee in the room. The aircon was very efficient. The corridor sometimes had an unpleasant smell. Breakfast was quite good, with a nice selection but the same every day. They had a good selection of tea but no English breakfast tea (with a coach load of Brits staying!). Not a very central location - about a 20-25 minute walk into town. The evening meal menu was somewhat limited and expensive. The staff were, however, friendly and helpful. We've certainly stayed in better hotels in France.
Response from Property: Dear Mr, We are sorry that your stay was like this. We have been informed of this and have taken steps to ensure that it does not happen again. Please be aware that renovations are planned in order to offer modern rooms to our guests. We look forward to welcoming you back and are pleased that the service of our team was up to your expectations despite the few problems encountered. See you soon in our B&B Rouen centre rive droite Yours sincerely, Pauline BASTIDE Front Office manager

The hotel was used as part of the Leger trip to Monet’s garden, Versailles, cheese & calvados trip. The area boasts new cycle lanes so the coach cant park outside but stops just over the road, worth taking into consideration as there is no porterage. It was in the middle of renovations when we visited so everywhere was in a bit if disarray but caused us no issues whatsoever. There is a small slow lift so on check in that becomes busy and its tucked in a small corner with little room to stand, so if you can, use the stairs. We had room 306. Rooms, small and basic, bathroom, 2 small towels, thin and not very good quality but adequate and changed every day. No hand towel at all. Hairdryer - ours did not work and I’m not sure if that was just an issue in this particular room but it wasn’t needed so again not an issue. Shower - has a high step up into it and can become quite slippy so care is needed, shower was good and plenty of hot water. Large mirror and small bin Bed was comfortable with extra pillows, good large window which opens fully, good air conditioning which worked really well. Small seat, chair and desk, very small wardrobe with 4 hangers, no drawers, no tea/coffee, no safe or phone. Curtain good quality and blackout. We slept really well No English channel on TV (it said there was a news channel but we couldn’t get it) Breakfast - fresh orange juice, tea, coffee etc Delicious fresh bread to slice yourself, croissants and brioche, selection of jams and yoghurts, fruit and ham. Cheese was a thick wedge and me personally would have preferred slices Bacon, sausage and scrambled egg. Im very choosy about these breakfast staples so did not try these Restaurant/bar. Both excellent. Good choice in the bar and priced averagely. The menu for dinner - opens at 7pm was small but having tried 4 of the dishes i could not fault them, again all under or around €15 Parking plentiful Small outdoor patio area with tables and chairs. Not the prettiest place to sit and could do with some smartening up but to sit, chat and drink it was more than adequate Staff. Super friendly and helpful Really for a small (500ish) room motel it was adequate, quiet and just over the road from the Seine which was a pleasant walk. 15 minute stroll to the cathedral and old town. Excellent bakery around the corner. Carrefour and pizzas I would definitely be happy to stay again
