Albion House at Ramsgate

We would not recommend that you stay at this hotel. We stayed for their New Years Eve Dinner Dance and tagged on an extra day. It was not a good experience Firstly, the size of the beds. Do not be fooled by the rather grand title of “Queen Room”. The Queen Room we were in was not very big and the bed was a small double. Furthermore, the room was short on amenities. It had no robes, no hairdryer, no iron and no ironing board. In fairness we only really needed the iron and so that was all we requested from the hotel reception. Unfortunately, we were told there 2were none left except a broken one! Not a lot of good. Following a complaint, we were given a more acceptable room for the second night. Second, the food. We were attending as a party of five and so as requested by the hotel we had ordered our meals in advance. Four of the meals were acceptable however the fifth one had to be returned to the kitchen twice and then eventually replaced with a completely different meal after the rest of us had finished eating. Not very satisfactory. Third, the dance part of the dinner dance. In a room of what appeared to be, 40 – 70 year-olds we were not expecting what most guests considered to be rave music. Many guests complained about this at the time, but again unfortunately the hotel either didn’t want to or was unable to bring about a change. We accept music is quite personal, however the sheer number of complainants on the night would suggest that it was not what most attendees were wanting or expecting. So, if you are going to attend a dinner dance at the hotel, we would suggest you check the style of music is to your taste before paying any money. Just to add insult to injury the DJ managed to completely miss the countdown to the New Year! Lastly, communication. We made a complaint to the hotel regarding our stay. Following an email and a subsequent phone call we did receive a response from the hotel. To be fair the hotel, did offer a 25% off voucher for our next stay. Unfortunately, due to the geographical distance between us we are very unlikely to be able to visit the hotel again even if we wanted to. We therefore rejected this offer and over 3 further emails asked the Hotel to reconsider their position. The hotel did not even have the courtesy to reply. In short, not somewhere we would recommend you stay.

Lovely boutique hotel. Very helpful staff particularly Dasha without whom we would have booked elsewhere. Fantastic customer service - nothing was too much trouble thanks to Dasha. Room great with lovely views. Excellent location of hotel. Breakfast delicious served in a very pleasant environment. Thoroughly recommend this place and we have stayed in some of the best hotels in Europe.
