The good points of this hotel are its central location next to the harbour , and the fantastic hardworking staff doing their best within the hotels limitations. Now to the bad points: Stayed 2 years ago and this hotel has definitely gone downhill. Problems started at check in as had phoned after booking to reserve two rooms together one of which was accessible. We were allocated different rooms as told system has changed with room allocations manged centrally by computer and local staff cannot make any changes. Then we were could only have one key as the keys were programmed centrally. In fact the keys kept often failing to open doors and needed replacing (still using old tech magnetic strips) . Rooms are extremely basic - no shelves next to beds for cups, phones etc, bathrooms are very old - taps corroded and difficult to turn on, shower over bath which after a couple of minutes reduced in flow to a dribble, toilet flush not working and handle came off when used , nowhere to put clothing, no ventilation - very hot and stuffy at night even with a fan, watered down liquid soap, very thin loo paper. Everything has been paired to the minimum and is definitely not worth the £120 a night we were charged. Breakfast was also poor for the money charged (£10.25) . Juice watered down, coffee was undrinkable, no fresh fruit - just a bowl tinned fruit which was not nice , toaster which only did one side as faulty (reported twice) , stale croissants and hot buffet food often tired and some not covered over. In summary this hotel needs a major make over and modernisation and we will not be staying there again.
