Mimpi Perhentian

Pulau Perhentian|3.92km from city centre
This is my third time staying at Mimpi Perhentian. It is sad to share that my experience this round is the worst as compared to the first two trips. There is no toiletries refill after the room was made up because the items are out of stock. I do understand that it closing season soon because of the monsoon. However, I did pay for the room at full price. Why do I have to be the collateral damage of the weather? The bed sheet and comforter have a smell which is caused by the sheet not drying properly. On my fourth day, the room was not made up when I returned to my room at noon. I called the front desk and told them to give me a new set of towels and omit the housekeeping. At around 4pm, the housekeeping staff knocked on my door and wanted to make up the room. Hence I am not sure if they have initially forgotten to make my room or if they only have one staff to do housekeeping. On top of that, I had a rude encounter with the restaurant manager. I went diving daily at 8am hence I have made a special request to pack my breakfast (which is included in the room package) and I will collect it at noon time. On the first day, the packed food portion was too little so I requested extra fruits on the second day with the restaurant manager in the morning. She said ok and when I collected my food at noon, it was not packed. Hence I asked the waitress on duty to pack it for me instead. On the third day, I saw the same restaurant manager again and I explained to her that she didn’t pack the extra fruits for me. She said I was not allowed to pack the food after I have eaten at the restaurant. I told her that I go diving at 8am, and I have never sat down to eat. She started to raise her voice and told me that I cannot pack the extra fruits because customers are only allowed to have one portion of fruits (which looks like a portion for a child). Which I find ridiculous because I get to dine an unlimited portion if I dine in. Furthermore, I did not request the packed food for fun. I will have digestive problems if I eat and dive. The restaurant manager was not only rude and inconsiderate, it is most disappointing that she judged me when all I did was take care of my health so that I can enjoy my dives and holiday.

Alunan Resort

Pulau Perhentian|3.56km from city centre
When I arrived at Alunan, I was expecting the standard getaway, an escape from the city to refresh myself temporarily. But as soon as I arrived at the resort (via boat) I noticed something very special about this place. Beyond the breathtaking views and crystal clear skies and ocean, there was a lot of genuine care and connection from the resort team. The delightful guest service assistant, Sel, was waiting at the pontoon to greet new arrivals. She accompanied us to reception while showing us around the resort. After checking in, another guest service assistant, Teha, brought me to my stunning ocean-view room (floor-to-ceiling windows all around, a sizeable bathroom, and a rooftop deck) while explaining the unique character of this resort along the way. In order to preserve the island's ecosytem, no heavy machinery was used in the construction of the resort. There were no single-use plastics to be found, all body care items were natural and reef safe, and complementary jars of snacks were refillable. This has given the resort a very unique character: sturdy metal staircases and platforms connected various parts of the establishment, which rest at different altitudes on the landscape. There was even a tree growing out of the middle of the restaurant, protected by resort owners who seemed to have great respect for the island's primary forest and surrounding seas. Furthermore, the resort is passionate about the reef ecosystem surrounding Perhentian, and boasts a Coral Conservation initiative which allows guests to ”adopt” corals. With a small fee, one could learn about corals from resident marine biologists and place rescued corals in the coral nursery. Here, I met Aimi, who answered my questions about coral behaviour (I didn't know corals were animals rather than plants, or that they bred in rather strange ways). Upon adopting a coral, I got to jump into the ocean to snorkel around the coral nursery, which was teeming with fish species. It was surreal. There was also a dive centre, where another marine biologist, Naufal, assisted guests with necessary equipment to explore the seas. Lifejackets and snorkelling equipment were available to utilise at no cost, which led me to develop a daily swimming and snorkelling routine after settling in at the resort. Mind you, there's quite a fair bit to see in the ocean ecosystem in Perhentian. Batfish, wrasses, groupers, blue-lipped clams, corals and many other fishes can be found all around the island, clearly visible as the waters were clear like glass during my stay there. Those who can't swim could just visit the pontoon to look at the various colourful fishes of the Perhentian seas. There are no cars or roads, but one can hike or kayak their way around this stunning island. I went to Keranji beach via kayak and saw stunning, decades-old underwater coral from my kayak, and was often close to tears from the natural beauty of this island. If in the past my island holidays were notable for the hangovers

The spirit of adaptation is good, it is good that in Malaysia the standards are lower, but there is a limit to everything! With the exception of a boy at the checkout who was kind. At your arrival you are asked to have a 50 Myr caper as a security for the room key. (which has a trave as a key holder!! Very comfortable to carry behind) Once in the room you realize that a toaa was perhaps more comfortable here instead of welcome you there is the smell of muffa! The bathroom will be 1 square metre ... The shower soft is practically on the water ... so once the shower is completely flooded.. the washing vapour will be 20 cm. The hygienic card that gives you in the hand at check-in, you must keep it out of the bathroom otherwise it is completely wet and the same applies to towels! The reception is active from 7 to 19:30 if you need something afterwards even if they are behind the gate and you see them and they see you, they don't answer! Wi-Fi has so much board that says not complain because it is so much that they offer it for free! Unexisting bedrooms fortunately we had the cotton hair bags ... they provide batteries covers!!!!! Cold and limited water. By night strange roofing make you jump from bed ... I haven't yet realized whether they were “structurel” noises of the roof sheet or some huge animals that fell above us :) The island is full of other places that even less offer much better ... unwanted and continue to search: This place works only for the despair of those who do not find any more available!

1. We had a great time on the boat, the snorkelling trip, and the view was amazing. We checked in on Thursday, and we felt like having the resort to our own. The resort became busier on Friday & Saturday. 2. Booking, checking in & out was quick and hassle-free. 3. The resort is near to the jetty; therefore, we did not have to walk very far. 4. The quality of the food was above average. Foods were cooked deliciously. The buffet choice was plenty, considering the COVID-19 pandemic. 5. The resort facilities, however, could use several improvements: 1. The room should be maintained regularly. The management cannot depend on complaints from the guests alone. Have a regular inspection and repair program. 2. Housekeeping is basic. Toiletries (shampoo) still contains Methylparaben. 3. The bathroom is huge, it should have a physical separation between the shower area 7 the toilet to avoid the bathroom floor from getting wet. 4. The hot water is only available during the day when solar power is abundant. 5. There were no TV channels. After some troubleshooting, we still got no TV, and we were advised to change our suite. At the new suite, we still got no TV. Then the staff at the Reception explained that the antenna was struck by lightning. The staff could have been truthful in the first place. 6. We noticed some rubbish was left at a spot without proper disposal. We also saw a giant lizard rummaging the trash. This poses a health & safety hazard. 6. Compliance to COVID-19 SOP: 1. No temperature screening equipment. 2. Staffs were not wearing face masks/face shields at any time we were there. 3. No movement control/physical distancing during the breakfast buffet. The staff must take proactive controls; they cannot depend on the guests because they were hungry. This resort is a best-seller, but please proceed with caution.

I would like to choose it even though I had a defect for the good position and because I did not see anything better to kiss. The hotel was very comfortable and was very comfortable and was very comfortable. The photo showed one of the rooms that were renovated for a few years, and we were given the old type, and when they arrived we had to get our baggage, we had to get to our chalet. The clothes were packed back with the handles (with which we had delivered them) and if you just need to remove the sweat without stretching, you should clean them from you. To make the bed again and change towels you need to ask. Cleaning in the Malaysian standard.

BuBu Villa

I wanna give some information about the garden villa and ocean villa, garden villa is way better than ocean villa , it has private yard, it’s a little far from the lobby for more privacy and peace, but ocean villa is near the restaurant and it’s not private, the residence of gardens villa should pass by ocean villas to get to their room and it’s not even beach front, it doesn’t have private yard so the guests couldn’t open the curtains and use the view 🫣it should be half price of garden villa but it’s more expensive 😑 the toilet and bathroom doesn’t have door but has view to garden. The stuff are great. 👍🏼 The food is the best in the island but totally is average. Snorkeling with firus was amazing.😝 Everything is perfect, I highly recommend this villa.🫶🏻
