Fantastic ancient Chinese lodging with modern amenities. You get the chance to sleep on a Luohan bed. The room is a suite! Within Pingyao walled city, it was easy to go to visit the sites. The lady owner gave me a map. Even though I speak no Chinese and they speak no English, we were able to communicate using a translator app. She recommended a restaurant when I asked. They made the utmost effort to make your stay enjoyable. The owner took me to the railway station when I left. P.S. Best to download MAPS.ME as it will work offline. Google Maps does not work in China. The taxi will drop you outside the city wall and you can ride the shuttle to the hotel. Make sure you got the Chinese address. Also same possible, install the Wechat app as it is used widely in China - you text in English they translate to Chinese and vice versa.

Beautiful accommodation and super friendly staff, helped us a lot since we cannot speak chinese, like buying tickets for attractions, suggesting nice local restaurants and even accompanied us outside the city walls since it was a hot day. It's a very cozy courtyard. It's independent and quiet when the door is closed. It feels like home. The breakfast is home-cooked and very comfortable. The boss is very nice and answers all questions. He responds promptly when communicating via WeChat. The young lady in the store is really nice. We sat at the south gate when we went there. The boss promptly arranged for the young lady to pick us up and drop us off when we left. The hotel is registered as one of the historical buildings in Pingyao ancient city. The hotel is beautiful, decorated with wooden ancient-style windows and doors with small courtyard in front of our room. Inside the room is modern style, spacious and high ceiling while the outside yields an ancient atmosphere. We also like the hotel location. It is in a quiet area but easy to commute to many attraction spots with not a too long distance walking. We have no complaint on overall facilities. The owner and his wife are also friendly and helpful.
