Fantastic ancient Chinese lodging with modern amenities. You get the chance to sleep on a Luohan bed. The room is a suite! Within Pingyao walled city, it was easy to go to visit the sites. The lady owner gave me a map. Even though I speak no Chinese and they speak no English, we were able to communicate using a translator app. She recommended a restaurant when I asked. They made the utmost effort to make your stay enjoyable. The owner took me to the railway station when I left. P.S. Best to download MAPS.ME as it will work offline. Google Maps does not work in China. The taxi will drop you outside the city wall and you can ride the shuttle to the hotel. Make sure you got the Chinese address. Also same possible, install the Wechat app as it is used widely in China - you text in English they translate to Chinese and vice versa.

Really love the hotel’s a**osphere. It is cool both scenery and weather. There aren’t much noice and people around the hotel, a little walk and you will reach some of the tourist’s attraction. Some employees can speak english or if not, wechat is the best help. They also booked taxi and drop us off by the taxi, the service was wonderful. Will stay here again if there’s a chance of visiting.

My stay at the Red Lantern Inn in Pingyao was absolutely unforgettable! From the moment I arrived, the owner was incredibly friendly and provided full-service hospitality. I was even greeted with a thoughtful gift of vinegar upon check-in. The hotel is unique and charming, not your typical modern hotel. The reception is located in a shop at the front, but the hotel's name is clearly displayed, making it easy to find. The directions on Trip.com were accurate, and although it’s a bit of a walk from the North Gate, it’s worth it. The atmosphere of the inn is enchanting, transporting you to old-world China. The rooms are simply designed yet very comfortable. The hotel also offers traditional costume rentals for photos, which was a fun experience. What truly stood out was the exceptional service. The owner helped us arrange a bus for sightseeing and even provided a free ride to the Pingyaogucheng Railway Station, despite it being quite far. The car was spacious and comfortable. To top it all off, I experienced my first snowfall here, making my stay even more magical. I highly recommend the Red Lantern Inn to anyone visiting Pingyao. It’s a place that offers not just a stay, but an unforgettable cultural experience!

After driving from Beijing to Xi'an and back to Beijing, I was too tired to find a place to rest in Pingyao. I booked a hotel casually. It turned out to be unexpectedly good. The hotel is registered as one of the historical buildings in Pingyao ancient city. The hotel is beautiful, decorated with wooden ancient-style windows and doors with small courtyard in front of our room. Inside the room is modern style, spacious and high ceiling while the outside yields an ancient atmosphere. We also like the hotel location. It is in a quiet area but easy to commute to many attraction spots with not a too long distance walking. We have no complaint on overall facilities. The owner and his wife are also friendly and helpful.
