this was a disaster from the start. me and my boyfriend had planned a spontaneous trip to oxford and saw this hotel, after looking at some of the pictures and reviews, we thought it would be high quality for the cheapest price we could pay (£109 for the night). once we had arrived and paid £40 for the carpark across the road for 24 hours, we couldn’t even find the place. we saw an “oxo bar” sign placed on the corner of the address that google maps claimed the hotel was. the place looked extremely run down with smashed and dirty windows. once we had called the hotel to confirm where the entrance was, we entered and was surprised by the pleasantness of the reception area. we then thought that we shouldn't judge a book by its cover, and remained open minded about the place. once we were checked in we headed up to our room, when lugging our suitcase up the stairs due to their being no lift, we noticed stains on the carpet covering the stairs, and windows looking out to a dirty roof and courtyard, this is when our opinion of the place started declining again. we then got to our room and was fairly disappointed upon first impressions, it wasn’t awful, but certainly was not as “fancy” as the pictures looked. after looking more intently around the room whilst putting luggage away, we noticed damp and mould near the shower area, drip and dirt marks covering the walls in both bathroom and bedroom, a wardrobe with no back, stained cushion from the bed, filthy windowsill, and paint and dirt covering the area next to the radiator. worst of all, when we opened the cupboard in the bathroom, we were greeted by a plethora of stains due to god knows what and what only looked like mould. after finding all of this we headed down to reception, which was empty. after ringing the bell for the attention of the staff twice, the receptionist appeared. after explaining the issue and asking for either a room switch, partial refund, or even a free drink in the bar, the receptionist stated very firmly that “he could not discuss this with me as it was not his job” and that he was “not dealing with me” and gave me the emergency number that was stated to be the managers. overall this hotel is completely deceiving and i would not recommend it to anyone. judging on the appearance of the outside and seeing the state of the stairs, i could only assume other rooms were in a state like this too.

Worst hotel ever. Charged twice for the room. Told couldn’t refund as didn’t have the managers code. Then advised to provide bank details and refund will be processed ASAP. 2 weeks later followed up and was advised they won’t do it and to deal with our bank if we want a refund. Won’t respond to anymore correspondence. Travelling student on a budget. Thieves, un empathetic and the hotel has disgusting rooms. If I could rate as 0 I would. Complaint lodged with ombudsman with evidence of dismissive responses. Stay away from this Hotel!

The first thing was there is no signage for this place. It is using the old signage that says OXO hotel. The 2nd thing is the place is very old. The cupboard was falling apart, the bed was sagging and it didnt look clean. The pillows were lumpy and the sink in the room look very worn out. Since we took a room with shared toilet, the saving grace is that the toilet was always clean. The 3rd thing is that this place is actually very convenient with coach buses behind and the food market place is fantastic. However, the noise from the bus station can be bad. We stayed 2 nights and it was raining both nights, so, we werent sure if the pub downstairs was opened for business. If it was not raining, i cannot imagine the noise. For the price we paid which was £125 per night, it is unacceptable! By the way, this property is on 1st floor, so, be prepared to cart your bags up if nobody is around to assist.

The hotel carpets were dirty and wet, with mold everywhere—on the window sills, ceilings, and around the windows. The furniture was also dirty. We decided not to stay at the hotel and requested a refund, but the hotel has been unresponsive. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It should be closed.

What a terrible hotel. The place stunk. One of the rooms my friends were in reeked of cigarette smoke. Mouldy window sills. Mouldy bathroom. Carpet frayed and coming loose around skirting board. Skirting board also coming loose. Toilet that didn’t flush properly. Generally very dirty and dusty too. Sinks were filthy covered in staining. All the mirrors and pictures hung up were wonky. Room locks stiff and difficult to use. How often are the codes actually changed? I don’t think very often so you could probably break in quite easily. Room numbers are often written on the door with pen? Unsure is that about, you can’t even be bothered to buy some door numbers for a few quid in B&Q. The people running this place don’t seem to care about it. This place does not get cleaned regularly. Its filthy. 0 effort is put into making it a nice place to stay. Its only redeeming feature is how central it is. But it’s not worth it. Avoid. Spend your money somewhere else.

I booked one night at the Euro Bar through *******. On the day I arrived at the hotel I was told that there was no room for me despite I had booked one a week in advance. I was brought to a dingy dirty and empty inn close to an industrial building and told I should sleep there. I spent one hour and a half at the telephone with ******* asking to be relocated. I ended up being awake all night because of the horrible smell of the carpet, the loud noise of the industrial fun and because the place looked very unsafe and even dangerous. I spent 146 pound just yo be rejected from the hotel and sleep in a hovel I hadn’t chosen. A disgrace. ******* was useless
