I booked 4 night (6/7-10/7) through Trip.com under the name of Chung chi ming with all payment made. On the date of check in, my wife paid ¥1800 tax by Standard Chartered CX credit card. However, upon receipt of monthly statement of credit card, I found that there was an unauthorised and unknown charge of ¥4300 without our notice or approval.
I was told that the ¥4300 was arisen from coffee consumption in the hotel but I didn't consume any.
Bearing in mind that the credit card transaction was made without any notification or approval. It was unauthorised access to my credit card account and might be liable to criminal offence. I am going to write my comment to your hotel. Please sort out this matter or I will approach my bank or even police department to seek assistance. Its all about matter of principle.
Eventually tthe the hotel found out that it was caused by system error which was the outstanding bill of previous guest.
The loophole was that the hotel could charge guest at anytime without any notification or prior approval which posed a risk to customers.
Very poor management and I need to dusclose this malpractice through various media platforms. I should also blame the negligence of bank card centre.
