The Westin Osaka

Umeda
The hotel is rather old and is showing its age with the antiqued design and less-than-modern facilities. Not necessarily a bad thing if they can work harder in creating a nostalgic ambience but unfortunately, such is lacking. The breakfast was a huge disappointment but the afternoon high tea was rather nice. Rooms are spacious as one would expect for a Westin hotel. Services are OK but not great.

Umeda
We stayed here a few years ago and they continue to offer smallish, clean and quiet rooms served up by a patient and attentive staff at an affordable rate. The rooms are small but was more than made up for by the great location near subway stops, the train station and multiple shopping/dining areas within a short walk. We stayed her four nights and had the buffet breakfast each morning for around $7.50. The buffet had many items to choose from, including a fresh salad bar, omelets, bacon, pancakes with jam, croissants, Japanese fare such as picked veggies, seared fish, rice, miso soup, coffee and juice.

Shinsaibashi/Namba/Yotsubashi
Its location is unbeatable near Tsutentaku in Shinsekai Market, with easy access to multiple train stations (Ebisucho and Dobutsuen-Mae) and the line directly to Kansai Airport from Shin-Imamiya station. This made my travels incredibly convenient. One of the best features of this hotel is its proximity to Mega Don Quijote, just a short walk away. It’s perfect for picking up snacks, souvenirs, or anything else you might need. Additionally, the surrounding alleyways are lined with various snack shops, giving you plenty of options to explore local treats especially takoyaki and okonomiyaki. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, and the receptionist spoke great English and was helpful and friendly. The room is modern and quite spacious compared to hotels in Tokyo.

Shinsaibashi/Namba/Yotsubashi
New hotel just opened in May. It was not the usual face-to-face check-in, but a type of check-in where you enter the necessary information on the touch panel and pay the bill. The operation is not so difficult, and the staff is watching over you, so you don't have to worry. If you register the necessary items in advance, the QR code will make the process even smoother. Payment is cash, credit card, and code payment system is also supported. I was worried about the noise because it's right next to Sakaisuji, but the room was quieter than I imagined and I was able to sleep soundly. I didn't have much time this time and didn't use the breakfast or shampoo bar, but I will save it for next time.
Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka

Uehommachi/Tennoji/Southern Osaka
Convenient location for airport transfers and shuttle bus going to Tennoji. Nearby stores inckude a variety of Kintetsu department store, HiHiTown with eateries, Daiso, chemists, 24 hour Aeon and Harves supermarkets. Hotel facilities are of standards expected from sheraton, though the hotel itself is dated by its decor. In general, a fair hotel for a short visit to Osaka.😊
The Rise Osaka Kitashinchi

Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi
My husband and I opted for an overnight stay at this hotel due to its convenient proximity to the American Embassy, where we had a visa interview scheduled for the next day. As a practical and well-equipped business hotel, it offered all the essential amenities. The staff displayed exceptional kindness and patience, with fluent English spoken by at least the check-in personnel. One highlight worth mentioning is the delightful breakfast experience. For the breakfast menu, one could choose to have a Japanese and Western style. 😄
