It is the staff and management of any property that determines its success or failure and its overall character. I want to give a major “shout out” to the Omaha Marriot for going the extra mile with regard to every expectation. We are now on the tail end of a horrendous windstorm (essentially equivalent to a category 2 hurricane) that left over 200,00 people without power. It is one thing to stay at a property for a pleasant holiday but quite another when you have no electrical power for multiple days (6 in our case) in extreme daytime temperatures. Everyone at this property was kind, genuinely sympathetic, and helpful – everyone - from the front desk to housekeeping in the halls, to the wonderful people serving in the breakfast / café area most of whom had no idea why we were there. We felt supported and encouraged. The property itself has been around for some time and (as with anything other than new construction) one can always find something that could benefit from renovation. But this hotel still stands as an excellent facility. Great breakfast. Absolutely no room complaints. In fact small things like the number of electrical outlets are much better here than in newer construction where you often have to hunt to find an available / reachable outlet. Great help with reservation / cancellation flexibility given the dynamic nature of the situation. This is a very good property (and I have stayed at countless over the years). But its staff and management are even better and that, in the end, is the heart and soul of any hotel stay regardless of the reason. This property and its people are at the top of my list for our area.
