Queenswood Cottage

The room was very dark and the soft furnishings were very tired and tatty looking. We did not find staff very welcoming on arrival . We ate at the restaurant on site but were the only people in there. Note that no alcohol is served here. Breakfast did not start until 8am which is late for getting out on trips. We needed to leave at 8:30 so turned up promptly at 8 which we had mentioned at dinner the night before and there was no sign of anyone. We got the girl who was on her phone at reception to reluctantly come and find someone . The man who served us tried his best but it was all a bit of a rush.

Boutique hotel, bear in mind it’s 3 * hotel, very quirky and different. Our bathroom was very unusual as well. Very comfortable bed.Really enjoyed our stay. Staff were lovely. Food was good. Our room was funky and fun. Very close to other amenities/restaurants. Definitely recommend for families.

Small and Cosy Boutique property centrally located and not very far from main attractions at Nuwara Eliya. We stayed at family cottage which had a comfortable double bed and two queen beds at Mezzanine level which our kids liked a lot. Cottage is very pretty all done in wood and bathrooms are decent and we particularly like the shower area which is done in stone giving an antique finish. Check in was not smooth and we had to wait a long as reception staff was busy and our welcome green tea was served a bit late after repeated reminders which was not good. Safe in Room was not functional and it was changed next day but after repeated persuals. Bed covers were dirty and they were changed after request. Heater was available in room and was very useful as it got really cold at night. Limited breakfast buffet but staff is very cooperative and will go an extramile with smile to prepare food for you and they even packed us paranthas when we were going for excursion. There is small souvenir shop which got some good quality jackets but do negotiate a bit before buying. Bit overpriced may be because of peak season. Any ways not a bad choice for couple of nights stay.

Our room had a mezzanine level for the twin beds which my son loved. The whole room and the bathroom were spacious and well-decorated. The staff are welcoming and helpful and a free pool table kept my son entertained.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was good when served. Our last day we were surprised it was not served, but fortunately the staff gave us some breakfast boxes for takeaway. Although our room was clean and spacious, it was also quite noisy (we had a room near the reception) and from our window we looked at a concrete wall. All in all our experience was ok, but given the price (and pictures on internet), we had somewhat higher expectations.

Delicious dinner in the restaurant of the hotel (Dahl and parrata), very tasty and fresh. Tea with fresh spicies (ginger or cinnamon). Very good service as well. The dinner room is quiet. We recommend it.
