The hotel is OK, not as old as the comments say, I can still accept it. Get off at Yunopan Station, one stop before the Yumoto Onsen terminal. Stayed for two nights, dinner was buffet, the taste was OK, but there was no change for two nights, it was a bit monotonous if you stayed consecutively. There was free ramen supper in the evening, and the black sesame paste ramen was provided during my stay... After the baptism of the hotel's black sesame paste ramen and Nikko Station front soy milk ramen, I think I can eat any flavor of ramen.

A very beautiful hotel with a lot of history. It's old but not outdated. The service is also great. But the experience from 3 to 10 o'clock is really too short. One day is not enough.

* Please confirm with the hotel in advance through customer service whether dinner is provided. If you don't have to buy it yourself, it is very important!
The hotel is located in the scenic area (next to Zhongchan Temple Lake), there are no shops nearby, and it takes about 1 hour to take a bus from Tobu Nikko Station to Marushan (バス).
This stay was about 5:30 pm, after confirming to the counter, no dinner was provided, no food was bought on the way, so I had to buy the vending machine provided in the hotel, Nissin curry cup noodles (400 ), Asahi / beer 330ml (300 ), very expensive.
Make sure to buy meals and drinks at the station or convenience store, otherwise you can only buy expensive vending machines.
* When checking in, there will be an additional winter fuel fee (500/person), bath fee (150/person), and breakfast (2200/person).
The room is Japanese-style tatami, the space is very spacious and comfortable, but the tatami floor is not cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, and the whole body will be wood chips when lying down, not very good.
The bath has only two indoor pools, hot and warm, but the body is not hot to 40 degrees, the pool is not very big, about 3-4 people can soak at the same time, but it is great to have a bath in the deep mountains.
The traffic is not very convenient, only by bus, about 2 kilometers from the nearest city, about 25 minutes walk.
Breakfast is a Western-style platter, bread, corn soup, quite exquisite, but the portion is not much.
Suitable for many people and hope that the space is large, you can eat your own food, drink and chat.

The drive from Tokyo to the past is 3-4 hours. It is very worthwhile. The hotel has four outside ponds, three for men and women, one for women, and one hour for women in the evening. The hotel's meals are also very attentive. The only thing that happened was the outbreak of pneumonia in the country, which inevitably caused some taboos to the Chinese. When we were eating, we arranged our seats in the corner of the door. Wouldn't it be safer for us?

The hotel is very comfortable, the waiter's attitude is very good, the room is very good, but the Japanese restaurant experience is too bad, the waiter is seriously unfriendly to Chinese people, we 6 people spent 8,000 RMB dinner 🍾️ the product is not sorry for the charge, the service attitude is not friendly, Chinese people are friends all over the world, can you be more friendly

We enjoyed very much staying at the pension. It was situated close to the bus station and with beautiful scenery of the lake. The host were very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the dinner very much.

At that time, attracted by this magnificent river view hot spring decided to stay once, and the best season scenery in the red leaves is absolutely superb. The room is very large and new, but the balcony is more leaky. Dinner is not too used to sitting on tatami. The food tastes generally. The beef is delicious and it is a little less. The disadvantage is that the temperature of the hot spring is a bit high and the details of the hotel can be better.

GGuest UserIt can be seen that this hotel has a sense of age. Due to the building itself, it is not very soundproof. I am afraid of disturbing the guests next door and downstairs when walking at night. Other than that, I am very satisfied. The environment is very good. It is right by the Chuzen Lake. You can enjoy the view of Chuzen Lake through the window. You can also see water birds in the morning. The meal is a set meal, the steak is very tender, the hot spring is not big but there is a free private hot spring. The Chuzen Lake Post Office Station is right outside the hotel, which is very convenient to go to Yumoto Onsen or return to Tobu Nikko Station.
黎黎The family is in their 30s. The room is large and the dinner is very luxurious. It is worthy of the specifications of the New Year’s Eve dinner. The service is very meticulous and thoughtful. The hot spring does not feel any minerals, but the venue is large and has an open air. When we left, we had a lot of luggage and took the initiative to drive us to the station, generally affordable
MMisamisamisakaThe food in this restaurant is quite bad among the many Hoshino hotels I stayed in…very ordinary and the ingredients are not high-end. The hotel should be sold for the scenery during the red leaf season. However, there are too many choices of beautiful maple leaf hotels in Japan. Overall, the service of this hotel is quite good. However, I would not recommend friends to come to this hotel. It is too ordinary and the price-performance ratio is relatively low.
JJamesGreat hotel with an amazing view of Lake Chuzenji. We weren’t aware of the self check in policy and we arrived after 6pm so there were no staff around to help us. The self check in machines are a little hard to figure out but one of the restaurant staff helped us and it all worked out in the end.
The onsen is great and the free bicycles were wonderful to ride around the lake. The room was comfy and spacious.
One issue with the onsen is that you can hear everyone in the female onsen from the male onsen. Usually this is fine because most people are quiet, but one of the nights there were several women and children screaming and talking loudly and shouting to their relatives in the male section.
GGuest UserThe hotel gets off at Kinugawa Onsen Station. There is no hotel car to pick up the station. There are shuttle buses for hot spring hotels. Get on the bus at bus stop No. 5 and tell the driver the name of the hotel. Don't walk there. It's inconvenient to push the luggage. It's also good to walk for 15 minutes without luggage.
The appearance of the hotel is a bit old. Don't miss this hotel because of the appearance!
The hotel has a sense of history and there is an introduction on the wall. Although it is very old, it is very clean. The room is quite large and clean. The room facing Kinugawa has a good view, but the sound of running water is very loud, which has no effect on our good sleep.
The hotel hot spring is quite large. The men and women hot springs will change places in the morning, and you can experience different pools. The hot spring is clean and there are not many people. You can also scan the code to check whether the hot spring is crowded or not, and go when there are few people.
The hotel has free afternoon tea at 3 pm. The snacks are delicious and the ice cream is also very good.
The hotel's breakfast and dinner are particularly rich, and every kind of food is delicious. We stayed for three nights and had a great time every day!
All the waiters in the hotel are very warm and friendly!
The bus from the hotel to the station needs to be booked in advance!
HHoSVery old school ryokan run by very friendly who has been working there for many years. Your name will be displayed on the board next to the entrance of the ryokan to show that they were currently welcoming these guests staying at the ryokan! We stayed there for 2 nights with free parking and we didn’t have to drive anywhere until we checked out as the ryokan is within walking distance to the 3 major world heritage listed shrines including The Toshogu Palace.
Avoid room 312 or 313 (which we stayed) which are the smallest rooms. Those rooms in the middle parts are bigger and more comfortable. Do ask for any room facing the back of the ryokan and avoid those facing the front where you only see car parks with coaches coming in the morning bringing tourists to the shrines.
The onsite Onsen for ryokan guests, breakfasts and dinners are the highlights. You’d love the traditional Japanese meals served there and you won’t be hungry.
Would I come back to this ryokan again? Yes definitely due to its location and friendly staff.
GGuest UserAs a Ctrip Gold Diamond member, I never write reviews for hotels I've been to, but this time, I have to especially thank the hotel's Chinese receptionist, Ms. Yu (I don't know if it's this Yu or that Yu, please forgive me if I write it wrong). Ms. Yu is very serious and responsible in her work, and she is also very enthusiastic and willing to help others. She patiently explained to me the hotel's environmental structure and various precautions, and personally took me to understand the location and usage of the hotel facilities. After learning that I wanted to have a massage to relieve fatigue, she took the initiative to take me to communicate with the masseur to determine the time and specific items, etc. She was very patient. I hope to see you again next time I come to your hotel, thank you 🙏
GGuest UserThe second time I stayed here, the first time I stayed in a Western-style room. The room was large and very new. The second time I brought my parents to stay, I chose a traditional Japanese-style room. When I opened the window, I could see the snow-capped mountains and mountains. The attitude of the service staff is very good and the experience is very good. Staff will take the initiative to help make the bed at night. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very good, each restaurant has a fixed location, and dinner and breakfast are prepared in advance. However, the included meals are vegetarian by default. If you want to change meat, remember to tell customer service in advance.
Jjlow123Most of the reviews are outdated so I thought I'd give an updated review. For one thing, there is WiFi (I have informed the landlady that the website indicates otherwise).
This place is a traditional-style inn. You'll be sleeping in a futon (some Google-fu should help you know how to use one), use two pairs of slippers (one for moving around the house, one exclusively for the toilet) and will also bathe in a Japanese-style shared bathroom. The front gate and bathroom close at 10pm, which is not an issue as everywhere in Nikko closes early and it's too dark to hike outdoors (in early Autumn).
We loved using the onsen to relax after a day of strolling around and hiking, and the delicious Japanese-style breakfast was lovingly prepared by a friendly old granny. The premises are old but well-maintained. Toilets, bathroom and onsen were great but we were there during off-peak season so we didn't need to share so much. Should we return to Nikko, this place will be our first choice!
TTsusiefirst of I would like to thanks always trip.com for very nice & convinient bookings everytime,we stay new sakura hotel, because the interior of the hotel is mostly sakura theme, the carpet, the gorgeous chandelier, the wall design, etc.or cherry blossom in Japan,& so very affordable prize,we spend only 18,000 yen for 2 adults, with 2 breakfast & 2 dinner.Very near from kinugawa onsen station, only 3 hrs.from Tokyo. We amazed the room,so very big for the two of us,for very cheap prize, can accomodate even 10 person, the buffet breakfast & dinner also is so good but the most I want to share is the drink all you can alcohol beverages for 1 hour, like beer, japanese wine, sours, all kinds of softhdrinks,I enjoyed for self service alcohol drink all you can!the hotspring also is very good but the cons is take care in the outdoor spring because of the concrete stairs, especially for the elderly when slippery, there's
& a little bit far from our room, the young staff also at the counter is nice & most of them are young japanese lady,so very entertaining,so many free amusement like billiard, majong, etc.with a nice sorrounding sightseeng site.& last after check out they give 2000 yen discount coupon for the next visit,Thanks God & trip.com for a nice autumn tour moment in kinugawa onsen Tochigi Perfecture Japan
