Very short walk from Tobu Nikko station, staff was very helpful, vending machine inside, basic essentials are all provided by the hotel, was a very comfortable stay. During my stay in autumn, the A/C was set to the heater after 7pm so we had to open a crack in the window for cool air. Overall amazing experience.
The Nodoka provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The Nodoka offers a pleasant stay in Nikko for those traveling for business or leisure. The hotel is just 3km away from Kosagoe Station. Seeing Nikko's sights from this hotel is easy with Nikko Kinugawa 3D space dinosaur museum, みどりの一里塚 and 3D Space & Dinosaurs Museum all close by. This hotel makes a great place to kick back and relax after a long day of sightseeing.
The room and services are good, but the location is a bit far from the Nikko city center. Without a private vehicle, it will be challenging to travel to entertainment and dining spots. However, overall, it’s very good.

The hotel is very comfortable, the waiter's attitude is very good, the room is very good, but the Japanese restaurant experience is too bad, the waiter is seriously unfriendly to Chinese people, we 6 people spent 8,000 RMB dinner 🍾️ the product is not sorry for the charge, the service attitude is not friendly, Chinese people are friends all over the world, can you be more friendly
Very comfortable hotel experience, we stayed for two nights. This home is not central in the daylight, but not far from the main attractions. After booking, the hotel will send an email to inform you of the check-in details. Upon arrival at the Nikko Station, you will be picked up by car. Checkin first sent a drink, sparkling champagne and matcha are very good, and the 跪 service is very thoughtful. We chose two Western-style beds plus tatami. The name of the guest will be affixed to the door of the room. The two people sleep very much. The outside is a beautiful courtyard view. Each room has an independent hot spring. In fact, there are basically no people in the big bath. (Because the hotel rooms are not too much), they are basically exclusive. At the hotel, I tasted two Kaiseki dinners and breakfasts. The patterns were different and the roads were delicious. Each room was arranged in a small box and the privacy was very good. In the morning, there are milk and wheat tea in the hot springs. In the morning, I can go to the sights to play and there are cars that can be sent to the Toshogu Shrine. In the afternoon, I am tired and make a phone call. I immediately have a car to pick up the cards at the designated place. It is also very thoughtful. In short, it is definitely a good hotel that I would recommend to my friends.
Room is huge compared to most Japanese hotel rooms. Modern styling, particularly loved the layout of the room.
Tv was a great size and quality but disappointedly didn’t have any smart tv apps you can log into. It does have movie and other satellite channels.
Bed was huge and super comfortable, 2 pillows on each side and a good weight duvet.
We stayed for 2 nights and loved our stay.
The staff were very friendly and the facility was very clean with thorough cleaning throughout.
The hot springs in particular had a wide variety of types and I wanted to soak in them again and again.
The open-air bath was very picturesque, with the sound of the river flowing in the valley.
* Please confirm with the hotel in advance through customer service whether dinner is provided. If you don't have to buy it yourself, it is very important!
The hotel is located in the scenic area (next to Zhongchan Temple Lake), there are no shops nearby, and it takes about 1 hour to take a bus from Tobu Nikko Station to Marushan (バス).
This stay was about 5:30 pm, after confirming to the counter, no dinner was provided, no food was bought on the way, so I had to buy the vending machine provided in the hotel, Nissin curry cup noodles (400 ), Asahi / beer 330ml (300 ), very expensive.
Make sure to buy meals and drinks at the station or convenience store, otherwise you can only buy expensive vending machines.
* When checking in, there will be an additional winter fuel fee (500/person), bath fee (150/person), and breakfast (2200/person).
The room is Japanese-style tatami, the space is very spacious and comfortable, but the tatami floor is not cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, and the whole body will be wood chips when lying down, not very good.
The bath has only two indoor pools, hot and warm, but the body is not hot to 40 degrees, the pool is not very big, about 3-4 people can soak at the same time, but it is great to have a bath in the deep mountains.
The traffic is not very convenient, only by bus, about 2 kilometers from the nearest city, about 25 minutes walk.
Breakfast is a Western-style platter, bread, corn soup, quite exquisite, but the portion is not much.
Suitable for many people and hope that the space is large, you can eat your own food, drink and chat.
At that time, attracted by this magnificent river view hot spring decided to stay once, and the best season scenery in the red leaves is absolutely superb. The room is very large and new, but the balcony is more leaky. Dinner is not too used to sitting on tatami. The food tastes generally. The beef is delicious and it is a little less. The disadvantage is that the temperature of the hot spring is a bit high and the details of the hotel can be better.

GGuest UserThe onsen hotel can easily be assessed by bus, just 5 minutes walk after getting off the bus, in fact they have car park too. It is very near to the ferry pier and the view was terrific, every room has a balcony with lake view. It was runned by the owner and her family members. An unique onsen hotel with quiet and peaceful enviornment where we can relax after a long day's journey. The owner and staff were very attentive and care for their guests. My friend was sick, the owner offered her medicine oil to rub her stomach and let her rest in the waiting area even after check-out. The food was so very delicious and it was one of the best onsen food I ever have so far. I would highly recommend to anyone who want to spend a night in Nikko. I will consider to stay in this onsen hotel again in future.
黎黎The family is in their 30s. The room is large and the dinner is very luxurious. It is worthy of the specifications of the New Year’s Eve dinner. The service is very meticulous and thoughtful. The hot spring does not feel any minerals, but the venue is large and has an open air. When we left, we had a lot of luggage and took the initiative to drive us to the station, generally affordable
MMisamisamisakaThe food in this restaurant is quite bad among the many Hoshino hotels I stayed in…very ordinary and the ingredients are not high-end. The hotel should be sold for the scenery during the red leaf season. However, there are too many choices of beautiful maple leaf hotels in Japan. Overall, the service of this hotel is quite good. However, I would not recommend friends to come to this hotel. It is too ordinary and the price-performance ratio is relatively low.
JJR_DYReally nice room with an epic view of the lake and enough space for everything. Meals are wonderful and abundant and a seasonal selection each day Perfect place to stay if you are planning to explore okunikko area or to cycle around the lake, there are also restaurants nearby for lunch. The public bath is very pleasant with an outdoor spring to soak in while enjoying an open sky. Found out there was a shuttle bus back to tobu-nikko station setting off at 11am from the hotel after speaking to a kind staff member, Diane. Do make reservations for the shuttle beforehand at the reception if you plan to take this as well. Rental bikes available at the Nikko natural history museum which is a 10min walk from the hotel
HHoSVery old school ryokan run by very friendly who has been working there for many years. Your name will be displayed on the board next to the entrance of the ryokan to show that they were currently welcoming these guests staying at the ryokan! We stayed there for 2 nights with free parking and we didn’t have to drive anywhere until we checked out as the ryokan is within walking distance to the 3 major world heritage listed shrines including The Toshogu Palace.
Avoid room 312 or 313 (which we stayed) which are the smallest rooms. Those rooms in the middle parts are bigger and more comfortable. Do ask for any room facing the back of the ryokan and avoid those facing the front where you only see car parks with coaches coming in the morning bringing tourists to the shrines.
The onsite Onsen for ryokan guests, breakfasts and dinners are the highlights. You’d love the traditional Japanese meals served there and you won’t be hungry.
Would I come back to this ryokan again? Yes definitely due to its location and friendly staff.
李李思穎Located within 5 minutes' walk of Tobu Nikko, the location is very convenient
There is no luggage storage service, neither before check-in nor after check-out. Only the paid lockers at the door are available. They are quite large, but there is a risk of them being robbed.
I booked a single room with its own bathroom. The common large bath is very small and can basically only accommodate two people. It is very inconvenient. If the price allows, it is recommended to book a private room.
TTsusieA premium hotel & hotspring in kinugagawa onsen, this hotel also is famous all over japan, because of superb hotspring creation made by a big rock, very new & romantic interior design especially in the lobby,w/ an luxurios chandelier, the outside view is amazing, the famous fureai bridge in kinugawa & river is in the front ,very nice autumn view outside, the room is big,but don't have a telephone & dresser, the food is superb but if you want to drink alcohol, you need to reserve from the front desk during check-in.Intagramable view inside & outside, but don't go here by walking with baggage because of the high stairs in fureai bridge, there's a shuttle bus but you need to pay 300yen.Overall,you can feel the scenic views even you don't go outside,Thanks always Trip.com for very nice booking, more power & God bless always
Jjlow123Most of the reviews are outdated so I thought I'd give an updated review. For one thing, there is WiFi (I have informed the landlady that the website indicates otherwise).
This place is a traditional-style inn. You'll be sleeping in a futon (some Google-fu should help you know how to use one), use two pairs of slippers (one for moving around the house, one exclusively for the toilet) and will also bathe in a Japanese-style shared bathroom. The front gate and bathroom close at 10pm, which is not an issue as everywhere in Nikko closes early and it's too dark to hike outdoors (in early Autumn).
We loved using the onsen to relax after a day of strolling around and hiking, and the delicious Japanese-style breakfast was lovingly prepared by a friendly old granny. The premises are old but well-maintained. Toilets, bathroom and onsen were great but we were there during off-peak season so we didn't need to share so much. Should we return to Nikko, this place will be our first choice!
GGuest UserThe second time I stayed here, the first time I stayed in a Western-style room. The room was large and very new. The second time I brought my parents to stay, I chose a traditional Japanese-style room. When I opened the window, I could see the snow-capped mountains and mountains. The attitude of the service staff is very good and the experience is very good. Staff will take the initiative to help make the bed at night. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very good, each restaurant has a fixed location, and dinner and breakfast are prepared in advance. However, the included meals are vegetarian by default. If you want to change meat, remember to tell customer service in advance.
TTsusiefirst of I would like to thanks always trip.com for very nice & convinient bookings everytime,we stay new sakura hotel, because the interior of the hotel is mostly sakura theme, the carpet, the gorgeous chandelier, the wall design, etc.or cherry blossom in Japan,& so very affordable prize,we spend only 18,000 yen for 2 adults, with 2 breakfast & 2 dinner.Very near from kinugawa onsen station, only 3 hrs.from Tokyo. We amazed the room,so very big for the two of us,for very cheap prize, can accomodate even 10 person, the buffet breakfast & dinner also is so good but the most I want to share is the drink all you can alcohol beverages for 1 hour, like beer, japanese wine, sours, all kinds of softhdrinks,I enjoyed for self service alcohol drink all you can!the hotspring also is very good but the cons is take care in the outdoor spring because of the concrete stairs, especially for the elderly when slippery, there's
& a little bit far from our room, the young staff also at the counter is nice & most of them are young japanese lady,so very entertaining,so many free amusement like billiard, majong, etc.with a nice sorrounding sightseeng site.& last after check out they give 2000 yen discount coupon for the next visit,Thanks God & trip.com for a nice autumn tour moment in kinugawa onsen Tochigi Perfecture Japan
