My wife and I booked the Nikko Station Hotel II for April 13 - 15 as a non refundable reservation. This week, the US State Dept issued a Level 4 warning for all US citizens to avoid international travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In spite of their normal policy, the Nikko Station Hotel II made an exception due to the COVID-19 pandemic and issued a full refund. We will reschedule our trip to Japan after the pandemic passes and WILL DEFINITELY rebook at the Nikko Station Hotel II, as they have shown excellent customer service in a difficult time!

We loved The Pageant and the owner, we call him Mountain (because it means Mountain in Japanese) made the experience AMAZING! Not only was he very warm and kind, he also took us back and forth to the train station which is a far walk and not in the main part of town. However, his place was worth the stay. Our room was very large, the bathroom very clean. He has several private onsens that we used both nights of our stay and they felt amazing after hiking Nikko National Park. Breakfast was super delicious. We loved The Pageant and we love Mountain!

I just wanted to come over and see how many of Ctrip’s Lizi orders there are, haha. . . The lake view is even better after staying here, the outdoor hot springs are a must, and the breakfast photos taken in the house are very nice. The indoor fragrance sold in the boutique is delicious. I recommend taking a bottle home. There are also places to complain. Checking in during the off-peak hours makes me very irritable even when sitting in the lounge during peak hours. Also, it is not easy to get to the hotel.

What a remarkable experience! The inability to find words speaks volumes. Everything was flawless, meeting high Western standards. Additionally, we inadvertently left a sweater in the room as we continued to Tokyo. Upon contacting the hotel, the staff were immensely helpful in resolving the issue. They efficiently arranged for the sweater to be delivered to Tokyo, saving us considerable effort and allowing us to continue our journey peacefully. The service was exceptional, especially considering that the responsibility was entirely ours. Absolutely outstanding service..

* Please confirm with the hotel in advance through customer service whether dinner is provided. If you don't have to buy it yourself, it is very important! The hotel is located in the scenic area (next to Zhongchan Temple Lake), there are no shops nearby, and it takes about 1 hour to take a bus from Tobu Nikko Station to Marushan (バス). This stay was about 5:30 pm, after confirming to the counter, no dinner was provided, no food was bought on the way, so I had to buy the vending machine provided in the hotel, Nissin curry cup noodles (400 ), Asahi / beer 330ml (300 ), very expensive. Make sure to buy meals and drinks at the station or convenience store, otherwise you can only buy expensive vending machines. * When checking in, there will be an additional winter fuel fee (500/person), bath fee (150/person), and breakfast (2200/person). The room is Japanese-style tatami, the space is very spacious and comfortable, but the tatami floor is not cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, and the whole body will be wood chips when lying down, not very good. The bath has only two indoor pools, hot and warm, but the body is not hot to 40 degrees, the pool is not very big, about 3-4 people can soak at the same time, but it is great to have a bath in the deep mountains. The traffic is not very convenient, only by bus, about 2 kilometers from the nearest city, about 25 minutes walk. Breakfast is a Western-style platter, bread, corn soup, quite exquisite, but the portion is not much. Suitable for many people and hope that the space is large, you can eat your own food, drink and chat.

Looks like a family-run accommodation. Owners speak enough English and they're very friendly. The whole place just feels so homey. We booked a tatami room with a private bathroom, it was clean, comfortable and spacious for two of us. There are two private onsens on the first floor, you don't have to book it. They have the ”light” system which shows you if the onsens are being occupied at the moment and you are free to use it whenever it is free. Yukata is not in the room, but you can just request them at the reception should you wish to borrow it. Though kettles are not available in the room, however, you can easily make yourself a cup of tea or coffee along the corridor where everything you need will be there. There is also a fridge in that common area which you are free to store items that need to be refrigerated. The breakfast was really good and the portion is huge, with fresh fruits, bread, salad, and so on. A perfect meal to start the day in Nikko. Parking space is available.

In addition to the location is a bit biased, hot springs, buffets, and k can be sang. The hot springs have indoor and outdoor soups. It is necessary to choose the time first come first. The scenery on the way to the hotel is beautiful.

Perfect
Jjlow123Most of the reviews are outdated so I thought I'd give an updated review. For one thing, there is WiFi (I have informed the landlady that the website indicates otherwise). This place is a traditional-style inn. You'll be sleeping in a futon (some Google-fu should help you know how to use one), use two pairs of slippers (one for moving around the house, one exclusively for the toilet) and will also bathe in a Japanese-style shared bathroom. The front gate and bathroom close at 10pm, which is not an issue as everywhere in Nikko closes early and it's too dark to hike outdoors (in early Autumn). We loved using the onsen to relax after a day of strolling around and hiking, and the delicious Japanese-style breakfast was lovingly prepared by a friendly old granny. The premises are old but well-maintained. Toilets, bathroom and onsen were great but we were there during off-peak season so we didn't need to share so much. Should we return to Nikko, this place will be our first choice!

PPassenger807001I visited in early August. Measures against corona I was taking a pretty careful corona countermeasure. I was able to rest assured. First of all, check your body temperature at the front desk. There are disinfectant at the entrance, corridor, dressing room, etc. All employees were always wearing masks and were wearing gloves when they were served (Breakfast is not a Viking form). The front desk was surrounded by vinyl sheets. I found that the windows and doors were open and ventilated. The room was supposed to be not allowed to enter the room to prevent infection, and a tea bottle and tea (senbei) were placed in the room. When I stayed, only 5 rooms were buried. It may have been deliberately not full because it avoided 3 dense in corona countermeasures. Location of the lake, Chuzenji Lake, it is also on the waterfront, and it seems to take the lake in hand. I feel like I can't taste it in other hotels. It is less than 10 minutes walk to Kegon Falls. The pleasure boat stop is right next to it. The only convenience store in the recently built Chuzenji Lake District is the second floor of the building next to the pleasure boat stop. However, be careful because it will be closed at 4:30 in the evening due to the influence of corona. Tsujikenya It is the site of the former foreign ambassador's villa, but it is said that the building was built in the 1940s, not the one at that time. Since it is about 50 years old, it is certainly old and the floor is rusty, but the feeling of retro is good. It will not be suitable for those who expect a modern hotel. Also, there is no elevator and you use the stairs to go to the second floor, so if you are weak in your foot and waist, you should be on the first floor. It was a cherry blossom room 2 floor western room, but less 々 narrow, with a twin bed on the tatami mats. Not limited to this room, this hotel room has no air conditioning, but there is a fan. The night of Lake Chuzenji is cool, so if you have a fan, you can manage it. There is an empty refrigerator. The bus toilet is a narrow bus unit like a business hotel. The outlet is on the wall, but it is not beside the bed, so I used the extension code. The meal meal Dinner time can be selected from 6:00, 6:30, 7:00. Dinner is outstanding menu and taste. Among them, the fried 2 degrees of cherry blossoms (orange sauce tailoring) are excellent. Other menu is also original dishes, and it is much more delicious than the long established famous hotel in Nikko. Lots of volume. Breakfast time can be selected from 7:30, 8:00, 8:30. The breakfast was good and very delicious. You can choose Japanese or Western food. Drinks can be selected from milk, orange juice, coffee, tea, etc., and are free to refill. Rice and soup are free to refill. It was full of volume and the stomach did not decrease even at noon. You can put it at any time except for the hot spring bath and hot spring cleaning time zone (AM10~PM2). It is a hot spring with sulfur odor. The dressing room is 4 person space. It is a little disappointing that there was no fan. The circular bathtub in the inner bath is small and full of 3 people (Karan is 4 people). The open-air bath is 2 people (about 1m x 70cm square). In front of you is the lake and you can see the boats crossing. The yellow sulfur deposits are adhering to everywhere, and it is full of wild taste. Because the source is hot, only a small amount of hot water is put into the bathtub from the pipe. Sometimes, it was hot and couldn't take a bath if it wasn't thinned with cold water. Apart from this, there is a small round (deep) rental bath. 2 people are limited. Free. The white board on the door fills the start time of bathing with magic and hangs the door key from the inside. 1 time is a standard. There are only 10 rooms in the hotel, so it is not crowded. There was a lot of time when I was alone. For those who are weak in their feet, it is dangerous because both inner baths, open-air baths and rental baths are large. It would be better to enter together. The customer service I didn't feel so good, but it was really comfortable with the warm response of the distance feeling. I felt that way especially when I was eating. The response that is not in the manual will say this. It is above the old famous hotel. The whole cherry blossoms are small, retro in Showa, outstanding delicious dishes, warm guests, and (small) sulfur hot springs. I sympathized with this combination. The taste of the dishes and the warmth of the employees won, and I didn't care about the oldness of the building.

Outstanding
TTL.TeddyWe were hosted by an elderly couple, and his family members. They were super cute, friendly and polite. It's like their small family business, ground floor was a western restaurant, second floor onwards were all the guest rooms. They know a bit of English, so the communication wise no issue at all. What we love about this stay is that other than the room with gorgeous lake view, the host was super helpful to allow us to store our luggage with them even way before our check-in timing. Furthermore he even offer to send us to the laundry shop, when we just casually ask him about the laundry. What actually surprised me the most, was that he even FETCH us from the laundry shop after we were done. Will definitely come back to this place again if I'm in Nikko! Thumbs up! Super host!! 😁

Nnoano87The special thing is the meal! There was a mass and a cow fin at night! The vessel was beautiful, and the dessert was beautifully colored at the end of the course dish, and the morning omelette was fluffy and the bread was very delicious. The morning dessert was decorated with an artistic cut like sitting at the bar counter and made me enjoy my eyes. The room was very clean and the bed hardness was good and I could sleep well. The owner and the staff were bright and comfortable, and the care was warm and I was able to spend very comfortably.

HHoSVery old school ryokan run by very friendly who has been working there for many years. Your name will be displayed on the board next to the entrance of the ryokan to show that they were currently welcoming these guests staying at the ryokan! We stayed there for 2 nights with free parking and we didn’t have to drive anywhere until we checked out as the ryokan is within walking distance to the 3 major world heritage listed shrines including The Toshogu Palace. Avoid room 312 or 313 (which we stayed) which are the smallest rooms. Those rooms in the middle parts are bigger and more comfortable. Do ask for any room facing the back of the ryokan and avoid those facing the front where you only see car parks with coaches coming in the morning bringing tourists to the shrines. The onsite Onsen for ryokan guests, breakfasts and dinners are the highlights. You’d love the traditional Japanese meals served there and you won’t be hungry. Would I come back to this ryokan again? Yes definitely due to its location and friendly staff.

NNieva MayThe place is a 25-30 minute walk from the Tobu Nikko station, but you can actually take bus going there. However we didn't know the buses only run until 3 in the afternoon so we had no choice but to walk an uphill road. However it was a very fun experience and the hike was worth it as soon as we were able to take a rest in this humble pension house. The owner was very accommodating, gave us strawberry ice cream and even offered us a ride to the station the next morning. I would say that this place gave us the best definition of ”omotenashi”. Someday when we go back in Nikko , we'll surely stay here once again.

BBrisbane TSlightly dated and quirky. Stayed in family room which had very steep stairs to the bed section. A bit overpriced for what it is, but this is Nikko. Comfortable enough. Breakfast quite Ok. Nice to be out of town which feels tired and mostly closes by 4.30pm each day. A lack of restaurants/cafes after that time. Everywhere looks rundown and disinterested. The lake and waterfalls were good but boat ride on lake was closed due to wind and (very small) waves which was disappointing.

GGuest UserThe room was large and very pleasant - and very Japanese in layout and bedding... The staff was incredible - going out of their way to make us comfortable and help out. Booked a private onsen which was outdoors under a roof in a big rainstorm - delightful experience. And the little counter shop in the bottom floor had great food and a wonderful woman running it - even if we had no Japanese schools and she had little English - but made us feel completely at home. The only thing to note is that you will be out into Japan away from the big cities - communication is harder (heavy use of google translate - including with the staff). Just a heads up for those that are uncomfortable in that situation

GGuest UserWe picked the best time to go. The autumn colours were a cascade of vibrant brilliance and colour. We went here for hiking and sightseeing from a two hour train ride from Tokyo. We took an hour and a half bus from Nikko. You could buy a three day pass for 3,500 yen and stop offat different places on the way. Buses ran everyhalf hour mostly and were easy to navigate. The hotel is a traditional style accommodation. There was a group of four of us who slept in the 1 room. It was tight but we were rarely in the room and it was only an overnight so it was okay. 37,000 yen for the four of us. It was clean and warm when we arrived and very warm for the whole night. English is not great but they don't hold it against you and we had google translate. The onsen was amazing at an extra 600 yen tax. There are two. The sulphur smell was pretty strong throughout the night which was probably the only downside but I'm sure it would be the same in all the hotels in that area. We did have to get them to organise extra bedding which they were happy to do but you need to be very specific in what your needs were and be able to explain it. Ours came with a breakfast option at an extra 1000 yen each which was a traditional Japanese style and well worth it. There are no shops around the area so take your own snacks. No dinner options in the immediate area. Although you could probably do a 30 minute walk to the Falls where they may have some food options or there might be more options as borders open up. The lake walk is about 6k and very easy. Not really pram friendly. Great place to stay if you want to be away from the crowds of Nikko. The Falls walk is about 30 to 40 minutes and there is food available but I'm not sure when it opens or closes, a great place to have an ice cream and toilets. There are other hikes in the area but we ran out of time.

GGuest UserI often use Itoen Hotel. This time I went to Kinugawa because I wanted to show my son the autumn leaves. The hall 々 that overwhelms the others, and the parking lot is already pan-pan. It's great that the guide will respond well, but ”the parking lot will be a different place, so please follow the shuttle bus.” Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey Moreover, the fourth parking lot is far from the hotel (it breaks your heart on foot). This is much safer to get a map and guide you. When I thought of check-in, there was a system that corresponds to the order with a number tag of a flock of exhausted customers, and I opened six counters probably because it was a busy time. I waited for about 30 minutes until I was called, and I made a reservation for dinner and breakfast at another counter, and I thought it was a low cost, so I was careful about the procedure. At such a time, I thought I could kill time by choosing souvenirs and open a shop, but it was closed. I was guided to the annex because I had been extended, but once I went out of the main building (cold), I took the elevator to the corresponding floor and the stairs. I had to carry my luggage up, and the luggage truck I borrowed from the front desk was not very helpful. And I'm a little lost due to the complex structure. I avoided it because he told me the crowded time zone at the evening breakfast counter, but in the end it was crowded and the distance from the next seat was so far that I couldn't get a social distance. Well, I focused on all-you-can-drink. I love all-you-can-drink super dry at Itoen Hotel. It was a blissful time to drink like a sake and take a bath in a senpod. Although it is the content of the rice, the menu was richer than other affiliated stores, and shrimp tempura, shrimp, salmon, and engawa sushi were prepared enough, and the replenishment was quick. Although it is a bath, the indoor bath at a good temperature and the bathtub are large and spacious, and the open-air bath has stairs, but it was a rock bath where you can relax. However, you can only get three dryers for this scale. There was a line waiting for the dryer. When I returned to my room and went to bed, it got cold at night in early November, so I couldn't turn on the heating with a small air conditioner, and I woke up several times in the cold at night. Both the futons are thin. Breakfast is as crowded as I imagined. I was disappointed that there was little to do with side dishes. I'm aiming for a low-cost inn, and Itoen Hotel has this quality, so I think it's terrible to ask for more as others say, because there is no way to inconvenience. Access to tourist spots is great and the staff is good, so it's not ”I won't use it anymore!”, but I think it's better to go out with color 々.

Kinugawa Hot Spring Shrine
Zzixunshi99There are too many hot springs in Japan, and it is also a hot spring here to visit the rhythm of various attractions. However, its attractions are not very large, and it is still not suitable for too much time in hot springs.
Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura
EEffyOhhIt was quite easy to get to from Kinugawa Onsen. the bus ticket is a little expensive but it will save you some walking time. Edo wonderland is a theme park based on Japan from the 17th century. there are actors "living" there who will talk to you and help you around. there are some shows. the ninja shows is not to be missed, there's English presentation and not a lot of talk during the show so it's worth it. unfortunately for most of the others, Japanese language is needed. people working there are super friendly and willing to help if you have any questions (average English is good) the entrance ticket is a little pricey but you get nice décor but then you'll need to pay more if you want to do archery/shirunken/feeding horses. some activities are fun and free. everything related to the ninjas were very fun.
Kegon Falls
黃米雪Huayan Waterfall is a waterfall in Nikko National Park in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, from Nakachanji Lake, which is connected to one of the tributaries of Kinugawa, Otani River. The reason for the formation of Huayan Waterfall is that the water pressure of Zhongchan Temple Lake is very high, resulting in a leaking waterfall at the bottom of the lake, and the water flows down the valley to form a waterfall. Huayan Waterfall is known as the "Three Great Falls of Japan". It was designated as a national attraction in Japan in 1931.
Tobu World Square
やややややI went with 10 young people, but I was able to take a picture and stop by the cafe and stay for 2 hours from the first area to the end! I'm glad the cafe was also elaborate!
Shinkyo Bridge
黃米雪Known as one of Japan's three wonder bridges, the "Shenqiao" in Tochigi Prefecture is located at the entrance of the Nikko Erhuangshan Shrine. It is a bright scarlet appearance and is a key cultural asset of Japan. The bridge is beautifully shaped and colorful, full of Japanese flavor. Legend has it that in the late Nara era, one day, when the monks won the road to reach Erhuang Mountain (Male Mountain) in order to practice, they were blocked by the rapids of Otani River and could not advance, so they prayed for God to bless. At this time, a Buddhist patron appeared and erected a bridge, so that the victory road people smoothly across the bank. The bridge is the origin of the "God Bridge". In 1636, the bridge was painted scarlet. The bridge was washed away by floods in 1902 and rebuilt in 1904.
Yuno Lake
紫韵吖Tangyuan Hot Spring Tangzhi Lake It is said that the best season to play is when the maple leaves are red. The lake is reflected by the colorful mountains, which is really beautiful!
Kirifuri Plateau
美美搭。What a beautiful place, I like it very much.
Ryuokyo gorge
LLamfood22Daylight is known for its natural landscape, and Dragon King Pass is one of the well-known attractions. The reason why it is so special is because this Dragon King Gorge was created by undersea volcanic activity tens of millions of years ago, forming a myriad of strange rocks and rocks, just like a raptor tumbling through the mountains and forests. In addition to strange rocks and strange rocks, stroll along the Dragon King Gorge promenade, you can see green shade, flowing water, waterfalls and other natural scenery, as well as shrines, small bridges, plus maple leaves to match, beautiful scenery! Dragon King Gorge is located between Kinugawa Onsen and Kawaji Onsen.
