This was our first Fufu experience and wow what a way to start. Everything here is impeccable, from the moment you we arrived at the carpark, you'd instantly know that you are in good hands. Every single staff was lovely to interact with, service was personable and extremely proactive and attentive. Food was great and the drinks selection was decent - they offered an agreeable champagne for free drink happy hour and if you want something nicer, a lot of good wines were available at extremely reasonable prices. The hotel had a feeling of a luxury safari tent or of the best of Amans. It is everything that a luxury hotel/ryokan could and should be. Even the other guests were all courteous, polite and friendly. We were constantly surprised by all the small gestures and stuff that the staff prepared for us. We won’t go into too much detail as we don’t want to spoil it for you, but if you were to visit Japan, you must make a detour to visit Fufu Nikko. It’s just THAT good. It's better than any hotels in Japan (even the Amans, and we consider ourselves Amanjunkies). Room: We stayed at the lowest room category Stylish Suite. We were perfectly happy with it. We feel that rooms on the first floors offer easiest accessibility. We would likely be staying for 3 nights for our next visit, as Nikko has so much to offer and is the highlight of our trip.

Just enjoyed an exceptional first stay at FUFU Nikko with my sister and mum. The service from arrival to departure was wonderful - attentive, considerate and diligent. No request was too much trouble even after I inexplicably mixed up my reservation dates! The rooms were beautifully and simply decorated with every modern convenience you could want during a short stay. Large windows facing out to the forest provides ample natural light, a scenic backdrop and a degree of privacy. Rooms were spacious, inclusive of a living room and provided ample space for the three of us. Each guest receives lounge wear, which you can wear around the hotel, including in the restaurant, outdoor and indoor slippers, night shirt and bath robes. If you need more of something whilst in your room or want fresh items including of the clothing provided, no problem, you can call reception and it will be deposited in a convenient two-way deposit box. This is an excellent feature allowing you to access it from your room without having to open the door and can be collected when convenient. The in-room onsen (private hot spring bath) was beautiful and exactly what we hoped for. It is maintained at a temperature of 42 degrees (and can be cooled) ready to enjoy day or night. The times for pre-booked breakfast and dinner are agreed and provided on handwritten on cards at check in for easy reference. Food and drink options were brilliant. Dinner options were seven course menus and you can choose between Teppanyaki and traditional Japanese. Breakfast was five courses and you can choose between Japanese and “Western”. Breakfast and dinners are served in private dining rooms so you able to enjoy peacefully with just your guests. My sister has several dietary requirements and they took great care in understanding these and preparing delicious alternatives for her. Lunch is not provided and the in-dining room menu is limited, so if you are not going into town during the day where there are lots of food options, we would recommend packing some snacks. However breakfast and dinner are so filling! In addition you can be served a selection of free drinks from 16:30-19:30 each night including premium options. We enjoyed the glasses of champagne by the lounge fire before dinner each night. All in all, I would urge anyone considering to go ahead and book. You will not be disappointed. We plan to go back!

Fufu Nikko exceeded our expectations. Put simply — if you are considering staying here vs other premium-level ryokan in the greater Tokyo area, don't hesitate to book. The service is attentive and focused. The food is impeccably prepared. The beds are ludicrously comfortable. After much overthinking, my wife and I booked 3 nights in a base-level 'Stylish Suite' and were extremely satisfied with the choice. The room included two queen-sized beds outfitted with the most comfortable set of pillows I've yet to experience in a hotel setting. Meals were large, creative and included several thoughtful touches. Every evening felt like a Michelin-star experience. Breakfast is a choice of Japnese or Western style. We tried both and preferred Japanese. But the Western breakfast has a couple fun plot twists that elevated it beyond the expected. On top of this — Nikko itself is a perfect setting for a couple's trip, or weekend with the family. The property is just a 1/2 mile walk away from Nikko's historic complex of Shrines and Temples that could easily consume two days of a visitor's time. I didn't even get started on the onsen water, or how amazing the local springs are. Nikko is a beautiful place and we can't wait to stay here again.

We stayed at Fufu Nikko in November for 3 nights and had high expectations. It exceeded our expectations and made our stay in Nikko very memorable. The hotel overall is very quiet and often it felt like we were one of just a few guests there. We had room 209, which has a large beautiful tree just outside the window. We used the in-room onsen many times and it was such a relaxing experience. The room itself is spacious and bright. The Dyson hair dryer and the Bergamot Gold incense were also nice touches. We also loved the muscat tea that they stocked in the room. We loved all of the breakfasts and dinners. The quality of the food was incredible. As vegetarians, we expected that there might be some repetition in the menu over the 3 days/nights that we were there, but each of our meals were unique and creative. We really appreciated the effort that Fufu Nikko made in this regard. The wine pairing (including the non-alcoholic wines) were also excellent. Another nice aspect of the dining here is that we got to experience several different private rooms during our stay. Quick note about getting to/from the hotel from the train station. We took a taxi to the hotel when we arrived (about 1500 yen), but for our departure, our server at breakfast mentioned that the taxis were not picking up guests (due to it getting very busy in Nikko). We decided to walk to the train station, which was actually very nice because it was a nice day and we were able to do some shopping along the main street. It took about 40 minutes. Getting around Nikko using the bus is fairly easy. We used the Klook app to reserve a Nikko "all-area pass" and the bus stop (number 12) is less than a minute walk away. Finally, all of the staff there was very attentive and friendly. We look forward to staying at another Fufu in the future! Note: if you can take the Spacia X train to Tokyo from Nikko, it is well worth it. The view leaving Nikko from the cockpit lounge is really nice and it's fun to sit on the couches and order a drink or treat.

Fufu Nikko is a true experience of the best of Japan as to people, ambience, culture and food. From the moment you arrive you are pampered with a most gracious staff and the meals are something you would have to go out of your way to enjoy elsewhere. Each spacious room has its own Onsen as well as large ones for the public. We are on our way to another Fufu resort as we loved our experience here so much.

Recently opened in Nikko next door to the Meiji emperors's villa and a short walk to the temples/shrines is Fufu, a modern design, luxury Japanese inn. Our room was second floor facing the back garden (woods). Beds (not futon) and rather large room for a Japanese inn (around 40 sqm.) 24 hour running hot spring in our room. Luxury details like a service box for receiving deliveries without opening your door. A separate large communal bath house for guests also on the premises. Once checked in, you can change to hotel loungewear with hotel slippers and go about as you wish (a traditional Japanese inn custom). Cocktails served in the main lounge before dinner while winding down at the fireplace after a long catharsis dip in the onsen bath. Dining experience was extraordinary beginning with the table for two facing outward with a nice view of the lighted garden/woods while sitting side-by-side with high partitions on both sides giving you full privacy. The server uniquely comes from the front using a narrow walkway just for them, between your table and the window, and with a lowered floor so that when your are being served you are at eye level with the server. Food was an amazing course experience served by the dish in traditional kaiseki style and further enhanced by the range of designs, shapes, colors, materials of the serving dishes heightening the presentations. Interesting wine pairings to match your kaiseki course. We tried the Kenzo flight that nicely complemented the delicate flavors of Japanese cuisine. By the night's end we retired to enjoy a second onsen dip of the day. Only to enjoy a third first thing in the morning, and a fourth after a beautifully presented breakfast spread. Definitely going to try other Fufu hotels/inns. They live up to the hype...and more! Very well done. Our second night was the famous Fujiya hotel just across the stream which fell significantly short of its rich and glorious past. A major let down.
