Hotels Near Grand Canal in Nijmegen

Hotel is very well located at the end of the hippe shopping street where also many restaurants are located, near the Great Market, Waal Kade, Kronenburger park. Our room was apparently in renovation because there was an intrusive paint smell and paint traces on the bathroom floor which were not yet removed. TV must be connected and reinstalled. For some, perhaps details, but should be in order.

The Hotel Van der Valk Nijmegen-Lent is quite simply outstanding! We travelled from Wales, UK, and this is the sixth year that we have stayed at the hotel during the period of the Vierdaagse 4-day Nijmegen Marches (second to third week of July). The hotel offers first class accommodation and service. The restaurant and bar are spacious and comfortable, and offer an excellent service and wide selection of food and drinks throughout the day and evening. Decor throughout is elegant. The hotel is located close to the city and is easily accessible by road and rail. It has a large integral multi-storey car park with free parking, and covered, direct and easy access to the hotel. It lies adjacent to the Nijmegen-Lent railway station, with frequent trains and a four minute journey into the central station and city of Nijmegen. We run out of superlatives in praise of the hotel staff! From Marije the Director and Marijn the Marketing and Communications Manager, to the reception, restaurant, Lola’s Bar and housekeeping staff, who are all just wonderful, courteous, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Communications throughout the booking, main stay and departure process were efficient and well coordinated. In our experience as international travellers of many years, the staff offer a wonderful, warm and personalised touch to your stay and are a credit to the hotel and the wider Van der Valk group. Just had a drink and pre dinner snack. Ordered a small borrel snack of charcuterie with cheese nuts and olives. It was a generous portion between us filling enough to not need much dinner when we arrived home in Lent. Friendly attentive personnel and plenty of them. We sat with our dog on the terrace which overlooks a luscious green field. We felt very welcome.

Had a lovely stay here in September with my mum and my daughter. We visited as a family to visit the war grave of my mum’s uncle. We arrived quite late in the evening as dinner was closing but the hotel ensured we got a meal. We ate in the hotel for 2 of our 3 night stay and the food was lovely and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and attentive. We had two rooms and both were spacious and well decorated with lovely en suites. The hotel is ideally placed on the Main Street in Elst. We had a lovely stay, and would return.

Just a short (thankfully downhill) walk from the railway station (extensive rail and bus services give easy access to almost anywhere in the Netherlands) the hotel is an even shorter walk from the north bank of the Nederrijn with its shady walks and numerous restaurants. Very handy as there is no restaurant at any IHG Express. As I arrived mid-morning the room was not ready but the staff (more about them later) were happy to store my case until I returned that afternoon (and again after checkout before leaving on an afternoon train). The room itself was a good size with a large comfortable bed, a functional desk and chair and a comfortable chair. Air conditioning kept the temperature stable and the lighting was good - not the ”fashionable” near darkness of some. Bathroom was good with a spacious shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. Coffee and tea available. Breakfast is the only meal offered and is a fairly basic standard european offering. Meats, eggs and cheeses were adequate, yoghurt good, fresh fruit salad very good indeed. Coffee was machine provided and good with a variety of offerings. No hot options (standard with the Express brand) and I did not try any of the other cold choices. Although fairly centrally located with easy access to shops and all the usual facilities and infrastructure the room was quiet and peaceful. An Albert Heijn mini-supermarket opposite attracted small groups in the evening but was not a bother - indeed very useful for an occasional small purchase. All standard and as expected for the brand so why mark it excellent? I will come back to the staff who were unfailingly excellent - helpful, cheery and friendly (though never less than professional) and recognised me by the end of day 1. A credit to the hotel and its management. This is now my first choice when next in the vicinity

The hotel is located directly opposite the Arnhem Railway Station, and it is especially convenient to travel to other places. There are many restaurants, bakeries, famous food supermarkets in the Netherlands along the street downstairs, so life is also quite convenient. By the way, if you arrive at Arnhem by train for the first time, remember to go out to the underground floor. The two of us stupidly picked up our luggage and chose to take the elevator up and out of the station. As a result, we looked at the train station and the hotel. We walked around a big circle and actually went down the station. Go to the train station gate, the hotel is 100 meters from the gate If the hotel of the same grade is in Amsterdam, the price will be more than double. We consider working near Arnhem the next day, so we still choose to stay in Arnhem. The money saved is used for transportation and more than enough to eat a big meal. If you go to Amsterdam, take the train to Amsterdam Central Station in 1 hour, and there is a corresponding train to Schiphol Airport. The breakfast at the hotel was very delicious and the mattress was very comfortable... Overall, we were quite satisfied.

What can you say about exclusivity? There is no more of exclusivity. Gaps in the layers with the old blood and the dirty gardens and any kind of atmosphere is cut off in your hotel room. Even a cup in the bathroom to wash your mouth after tanning wasn't there. Eating was ridiculously expensive and the quality to cry. Tips for the cook: consider a career switch. The ”warm vegetables” screw looked like vegetables you're dressing out of the dust of the dish, enjoyed with a unclear wet of curry and coconut. Sashimi of sashimi had been better - three flattery thin sticks where my mother has become sick, and this hotel is also a temporary reception centre for asylum seekers. We haven't found any problems here, but communicate with your guests. Something with transparency? This is your duty as a million group, namely. It's good that you can offer asylum seekers a hot bed, but a little heads-up was good. Not everyone is served here. Take an example to your colleagues in Brabant, van der Valk. The reception staff has taught the lips and a disgusting high-air. Work to your softskills ladies, that is better.

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal in Kleve für einen Kurztrip und wieder restlos begeistert. Da unsere Anreise kurz ist, haben wir Mittags eine Kleinigkeit gegessen (sehr lecker) und konnten deutlich vor der Zeit unser Zimmer beziehen. Wunderschön und mit Blick auf die Spoy! Restlos begeistert hat uns das Abendbrot. Selten bis nie haben wir außerhalb der Küste so guten Fisch gegessen. Ein kleiner Tipp, der aber auch bitte als Tipp und nicht als Kritik verstanden wird: eine bessere, mediale Präsenz zur Infomationensmöglichkeit wäre schön. Und ein Traum wären kleinere Portion für Erwachsene. So werden wir nie den Nachtisch schaffen. Der Wolfsbarsch war unvergleichlich gut, aber leider war danach kein Platz mehr für ein Dessert.
