We travel to Niagara Falls on a fairly regular basis and over the last few years the Doubletree has been our go to hotel – rooms are dated but a reasonable balance of price, location, parking. This trip was different – for reasons unknown check in took 35 minutes – I had a printed copy of the reservation but still the staff member repeatedly checked the computer, consulted with a colleague behind the scenes. At the 20minute mark I joked that maybe they were having difficulty finding us an upgrade and received a hostile “no chance” from the mystery person behind the scene. At 35 minutes the key was produced with no apology or explanation for the delay. Our next drama was entirely our own fault – ironed a pair of pants, hung them in the closet and forgot them. Called the next day and after several tries ended up talking to the housekeeping manager who was not in the slightest bit interested – claimed that her staff would not overlook something in the closet and would not take them – leaving the only option that we somehow made the story up! Not interested in having a staff person double check the room or look around to see if they were placed somewhere else. Tourists have returned in full force to Niagara Falls and prices have taken a significant jump while service in many places – particularly this hotel – has nosedived. We wont be back.

The hotel is in an excellent location within walking distance to the Falls and numerous tourist attractions.. Heather and all the staff were great, helpful and friendly. The room was clean and the bed extremely comfortable. One of the few hotels that had onsite parking.

The location of this hotel is faultless! Absolutely perfect to be able to see the falls and both Clifton Hill and Victoria Avenue are a short walk away too. As per the other reviews, the hotel rooms are quite dated in terms of the decor and furniture. But our two rooms didn’t have any problems with them. We were on the 6th floor and had a great view of the falls (although the windows could do with a clean!) I would HIGHLY recommend anyone staying here to pre-book breakfast (or a room with breakfast included), because the food is super tasty, filling and the service is great AND you sit over looking the falls too. Why would you leave for breakfast elsewhere when this is your view?!

We did not know what to expect from a hotel so near to busy Clifton Hill, and were so happy with this choice. From the moment we walked in we felt positive. The staff was friendly at check-in and each staff member we encountered was also friendly and helpful. The halls, elevator, breakfast room and most importantly, our room was spotless and comfortable. We met a man who was cleaning during our stay, and he was thorough. Even in the elevator he was aware of fingerprints he quickly removed. The parking lot was adequate and with the hotel parking stub, was free. I noticed while looking for a place, that some hotels charged hefty parking prices. We slept well for our two night stay. Breakfast was adequate, nothing to write home about, but it didn't matter. If I return, I would definitely choose this place.

My family have been regular visitors to the amazing WhiteOaks Resort and Spa now for thd over 10 years, and recently stayed there several times in June, July and for four nights in August 2022. What an amazing hotel. We are always greeted with such kindness and this continued throughout our stay. When I mentioned it was my wife's birthday (or anniversary), Jeremy at the front desk made sure to deliver complimentary glasses of wine and chocolate-covered strawberries to our room. Jeremy as well as Nicole always ensure we get our favourite room overlooking the beautiful garden. Thanks Jeremy for always greeting us with a smile and taking good care of us. And we are always greated so warmly by Michael and the other doormen upon arrival as soon as we pull up to the entrance. Michael is always giving us great suggestions about places to visit and things to do whenever we arrive. The rooms are fantastic. Clean, modern, and have a fantastic view. There's nothing we can complain about this hotel. The services at WhiteOaks are second to none! A wonderful indoor pool, spa, gym, indoor tennis courts, squash, spinning classes, yoga, child minding, etc. All of the facilities were clean and modern. The restaurant located inside the hotel, Play, Liv, were delicious. We always dine here for breakfast lunch and dinner. If you want a great place to stay in Niagara on the lake, consider WhiteOaks. Amazing room, clean, modern and spacious. Staff all friendly. Lots of parking and good location for the wineries. The breakfast was very poor though in my opinion and compared to holiday inn breakfasts in the uk. Paper plates, very few actual tables. The egg was very dried up and not replenished.

We loved our stay at Holiday Inn Express Welland. The hotel is new and very well equipped. So impressed with the accessibility of the pool. The rooms were clean, the staff was helpful and accommodating. Special thank you to Nathan for giving a warm, friendly and fast check in. Stayed here for a quick getaway to the Niagara region. This hotel is very close to the factory outlets and approximately 20 mins to the falls. The staff at the front desk were amazing and we very impressed with the room and all of the hotel facilities. It’s very clean and well maintained. Plenty of free parking and the breakfast was great. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

GGuest UserGood: so cute! Older home with 3 bedrooms. Main floor is unit 1 with a large closet with fridge, it’s own bathroom The hood: Room 1 on the main floor featured a private bath with a tub/shower, shampoo, etc. and more towels than I’ve ever seen for 2 people. Queen sized bed, 2 nightstands and lamps, small bistro set and TV. You enter a common area which features a small table and chairs, and a series of slippers and Crocs to give you the hint that taking shoes off is welcomed. There is also a desk with a laptop set up, and wifi. Next is a room set up as a dining room with cups, plates, flatwear, a micro, coffee pot, mini fridge and a formal wood dining table for 6. This is where breakfast was served in the past. They now leave snacks and fruit as well as coffee for the coffee maker, cream in the fridge, and some rather good biscotti when we were there. The owner lives in the house behind, which is attached, but has no internal connection. I understand there are 2 more units upstairs that are large and maybe share a seating area on the landing. The Falls are down the street, maybe 6 blocks or less. The best souvenirs are located in the State Park gift shop next to Victoria’s Restuarant and Tim Horton’s. Ex: small maple syrup in a glass maple leafed shaped bottle $5.98. Elsewhere is was 7.98 and up. The owner has carefully and cheerfully decorated all the parts we saw. With permission, she can show you a washer and dryer in the house. The Red Ganache Bakery down the street is fabulous. I had some dark chocolate cup filled with coconut cream. And there were several gluten free options, including macarons (not macaroons.. a different thing). The rest of the story; Communication, and breakfast. There are listings all over for this property and due to language barriers and being a small operation, not everything is up to date. There is no hot tub. There are bathtubs. There is no beautiful, wonderful country breakfast that comes with your stay. Fruit and biscotti or muffins, coffee, etc. The photos on Tripmasters of the breakfasts and idea of guests gathered around, visiting, was the reason I booked here. The Red Ganache helped me get over it. And.. the phone numbers seem to change a lot. Or maybe they had a land line that went away. And English is not their first language, so be patient. Lastly, most odd and nothing to do with the listing… transportation to and from Pearson Airport is non existent. Oh there’s a bus… $200 for 2 and upwards of 4 hours to get there. We Uber’d for about the same price, and on a weekday around 3, it still took 2 hours to get there. On a weekday around 9 am, the reverse trip was around an hour. Car rental was $500 for an economy car for 3 days, before any gas, taxes or insurance. So, it is Cozy and it offers an alternative to the $300-700 a night hotels. Sorry, my photos were on the way out.

GGuest UserBased on the reviews, I requested renovated rooms on a higher level floor. We were booked into two adjoining rooms on the 8th floor (hotel has 10 floors). We did not pay extra for any kind of ”view” (other than perhaps the 10pm fireworks, not sure what else might have been viewable, however). The rooms were, in fact, recently renovated and were very nice: very spacious with sleek/modern furniture and an updated/modern bath. Beds were very comfortable. The only minor nit was the rooms could have used a 2nd mirror; there was just 1 mirror over the separate-from-shower/toilet-room sink, really only enough room for 1 person to use comfortably at a time. Housekeeping came once during our 4 night stay, which was about right. All staff members were friendly and helpful. Location was great - everything was very walkable from here, and yet it was not too close to be overly noisy/congested. We would stay here again!

There were some bugs in the room, and they said that this is normal in the summer. They arranged a new room for us, but they were unwilling to deliver the room key to our room. GGuest UserWe researched the package deal and called the hotel directly to book because we had some questions about it. I tried calling the hotel for hours without them answering. So I called the restaurants directly. Skylon answered snd told me the deal is specific. Either salad or French onion soup to start with fresh bread, butter, striploin, chicken, pasta, prime rib, desert was black forest cake or mocha pudding. Plus tea or coffee. Btw no raw or brown sugar available. CoCos steak house never answered their phone after several calls over several hours. In the package it includes one meal at the Skylon one meal at COCOs Steak House. I assumed the dinner would be comparable and the breakfast would be decent. Was I in for a wake up call. Upon checking in which is slow and guests are very frustrated with the speed and etiquette mannerisms they receive at this hotel. In 3 days I never heard ; hello, welcome, thanks for staying, good morning, how was your stay, have a good day, good afternoon, etc. Upon entering our room it was modern, wood floors, wallpaper that was peeling on every wall, sliding door that barely worked, probably from 1970s. TV was small, remote was old and didn't work well. The towels were not in the room, no wash clothes etc. I called the front desk but had to go myself to get them. The bath mat never came. The bottom of the tub is extremely slippery, dangerously. The bed however was extremely comfortable and the linens high quality and spotless clean. The pillows were great as well. The rest of the room was clean with no complaints. Although I requested a higher floor, we received a ground floor, so no balcony or outside furniture to relax. Also for security reasons I prefer upper floors. Dinner at Skylon was great. The views, the food, and service were all excellent, although my meat was slightly overcooked it wasn't worth mentioning to the server. Dinner the following night at COCOs steak house was the complete opposite. The dinner selection was quite limited. Choice of one entrée, no appetizer, no desert. ! You had the choice of personal size pizza, chicken, prime rib, pasta. Although I had rare prime rib the night before, I ordered it again. They included choice of potato and veggies. I had baked potato. They don't have the loaded option although they have butter, sour cream, and bacon. Dinner arrived and was a sad story. Although I asked for rare, it was obviously cooked days earlier and reheated to well done. The portion was small, meat was extremely chewy, and no flavor at all. Served on a small diner plate with sour cream in a plastic cup. Definitely not worth $140 that was the price difference per night for the upgrade for the meal package. Breakfast at COCOs was sad too. It was limited to tea, or coffee, no option for juice, pancakes, or waffles Two eggs, bacon or sausage with toast but rye wasn't available either day just because it wasn't I was told. Lol. It didn't include hash browns or potato. Sl

LOVES: the Juliet balconies that overlook the central atrium -- I loved having a place to drink a coffee or glass of wine in the evening that wasn't the hotel room itself. - the ambiance of the atrium was relaxing and sweet - free breakfast and parking (BONUS) **I loved having breakfast available for our young kids. They served cereal and fruit, toast and muffins. The eggs didn't look amazing, nor did the sausage but it's a FREE BREAKFAST! In Niagara Falls! That alone saves almost $100 for a family of four. -fridges in the bedrooms - price was great :) CONS: - it's outdated. Don't expect modern rooms and decor; the rugs are worn and paint is peeling - the central atrium is very loud in the evenings, busy with hockey tournaments and swimming children. The hotel has quiet time starting at 10pm and they were vigilant in following this protocol Overall: Go here with your family! It's super cute and get a room with a balcony :) Michelle

GGuest UserI booked a King-size bed suite for Labor Day weekend from here and then read so many negative comments about it (well I normally read the reviews before booking a stay but this time was a last minute booking and I found a good deal with only a couple suites left so I booked it right away), so I was worried.
As many reviewers wrote the line to check-in was long (it was 3:45pm when we got there), yet there was a note saying they are currently updating the system/software, and the manager did come out and apologized for the wait by saying she was short of staff. Also, before Starbucks closed the staff made some ice capp (sample size) for the line. Both the manager came out addressing the wait and the coffee were nice gestures. Throughout the 20 mins wait I did see a few transaction problems with credit cards not going through and booking issues from specific booking sites. When it was our turn, the guy who served us did not greet us but only asked for my last name and then told me there was a parking fee and resort fee, and told me 2 times that there would be a $150 deposit, which I knew beforehand, and then asked me to sign. From the indifferent facial expression on the 3 check-in staff I could tell they had a long (and possibly rough) day enduring the frustration from the technical issues and customers who might have bias from reading negative reviews before coming. While I am a customer expecting good customer service, believing they should portrait the expected professionalism, that includes at least a decent greeting and smile which I can normally get from a cashier at a supermarket, I would lower my expectation this time to not let anything affect my mood with my loved one for this stay. Maybe I had expected worse, but honestly this was actually not bad at all. (On our way up we came across 2 cleaning ladies who greeted us with smiles)
So we got a suite on the top floor - I must say it is super clean and pleasant! The toilet tank has a little leak to the bowl so there is a small ongoing water sound but that is the only imperfect thing inside the suite. I am very pleased with the room.
I read before about someone drank the bottled water and got charged, there's actually a price tag/note on the bottle. So to be fair people need to read for what is communicated to you.
To make the resort fee well spent I had a swim before it closed (although it is expensive to pay $20 for a swim and it is hard to agree with such ”resort fee”). Again, it was clean and pleasant. The water wasn't warm enough for small kids as I saw some could only stay for a few minutes then left, so it was good for real swimmers like us who could enjoy a small-kids-free swim time.
Many booking sites said there is a sauna room but we couldn't find one, the staff at the reception said he didn't know there is one, and we caught another staff near the pool and asked and he said many years ago there was one but not anymore.
The daily specials at the restaurant Don Cherry and the breakfast menu are costing nothing more than any other entry level restaurants/chain eateries nearby so I think it is good and convenient to just dine in downstairs, especially on rainy days.
So I am writing this to provide a more balanced view. I believe many who think their expectations unmet would vent by writing a bad review, and I do believe bad experiences do happen, yet at the same time most won't care to share their experiences if things are fine and okay. For me, after reading so many negative comments I feel that I can give my honest review to show the other side of the coin - This is only fair for the hotel and the staff who did do a great job, like the staff, Eva, who cleaned our room, and those who stock the pool with clean towels and keep the area clean :-)
(My deposit was clear upon check-out, unlike some reviewers wrote that they did not get back the money after a week)

AAnonymous UserI am very satisfied. This is my second stay. The boss said to me, welcome home😊😊😊. I saw that the hotel has been renovated, the hygiene and environment are much better than before, and the front desk service has improved a lot. I just forgot to take pictures again. There is a red 601 bus at the door, which is very convenient for visiting Waterfall City. Awesome👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

GGuest UserThe Hotel by far isn't wheelchair accessible we had a hell of time getting me in and out of the 2 sets of doors. I had asked before hand if the Hotel and room was wheelchair accessible. The elevator smelt musky. We booked for 3 nights. When we entered the room it also smelt musky, but we didn't think anything of it. The first room they put us in only 1 of the lamps worked out of 3. We The TV was snowy and we said something to the front desk and we were told that they've been having issues with the cable. The switches beside the bed only 1worked and they looked sunken into the wall. My wheelchair just barely fit through the door to the room. My husband and I woke up in the morning all congested. My husband noticed water damage in the corner by the ac. We told them at the front desk and they said someone would look at it. When we got back from the days outing, nothing was done. My husband went to the front desk to get our money back due to the fact that I'm allergic to mold. Cause we booked online they couldn't refund but switched us to a room with a jacuzzi tub in it. Low and behold the TV works perfectly. There wasn't enough towels for 2 people left in the room. Out of 2 ice machines only one worked but just barely. The restaurant didn't have any hours posted. We went to the pool, was very disappointed to find the hot tub gone. The pool looked like it hadn't been cleaned for awhile. There was no smell of chlorine the rope that was supposed to go across the middle of the pool was tied to the rail and the other end to the emergency ring. There was bits of pool noodles all over.
