This was a nice base for our business meetings (off site) - plenty of on-site amenities and numerous walkable options. The room was quiet - I had a balcony room over the pool on the fourth floor. If the pool was busier it might be a but noisy for the second floor (opens to the pool) but my experience was quiet. The only complaint I have is not with this property specifically, but with certain Marriott hotels. As many hotels have done, Marriott has transitioned to the pump bottles on the wall in the shower. This is fine, but the font size and contrast are terrible when you are trying to distinguish shampoo from body wash. Even with my glasses I had to get close, and without them it's hopeless. Other hotels have contrasting colors and larger fonts - that's really the only issue I had with my stay.

Downtown New Orleans
We stayed almost a week. I paid for a room with a street view. Glad I did as many of the rooms are inside the property with windows overlooking a hallway. Below was originally a restaurant but this is closed and empty - it looks like building work was coming to an end here. The room is 'standard' no-frills. The laundry room was handy. We were disappointed by the lack of food options - they had a small coffee counter serving a very limited range of items at incredibly high prices. The staff were pretty poor -no one really seemed to care much about the customer, unusual for a Marriott. They spend most of their times on their phones. One member of staff walked around bare footed, it took 3 days for a blown bulb to be replaced (we gave up asking, and eventually found the maintenance man) He was the only person who actually seemed interested and cared about customers. Lastly, it was a good quiet location - but you have to ignore the state of the pavement while the place next door is being refurbished as it is messy and a dmumping ground for rubble.

Canal Street
Location is what this hotel is all about. Otherwise, it's not all that impressive. Some of the staff are nice, others indifferent. My super-size room had two TVs and two bibles, but no in-room safe! I guess that says something about the priorities here. It was clean and quiet, albeit a bit industrial with huge sliding doors to the bathroom and sitting area and a drab color scheme. But it's just a 1.5 short blocks to Bourbon St. and that's the main feature of this property. Also note the elevator only goes down to the second floor. To exit to the street, you must walk through the lobby to different elevators.
