This traditional Japanese onsen hotel is perfectly located an 8 min walk to the closest ski lift & right by the main street. Breakfast had both Japanese & Westrn options. The pancakes were delicious! Mizuki at the front desk of hotel Taiko went above & beyond to ensure that we were happy throughout our stay. Every interaction with her was warm and welcoming. We were always greeted with a smile. She helped with our check-in, coordinated our transfer to the train station, helped with dinner reservations, lift ticlets & gave lots of great recommendations. Her recommendation to enjoy the hotel onsen was greatly appreciated after a long day of travel. We visited the onsen after every day of skiing as well! Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful, but Mizuki stood out in her customer service abilities. She should be the customer service manager. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return & spend more time at this lovely establishment that is staffed by incredible people. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Taiko. It is conveniently located near the ski lifts and the main st. The staff are welcoming, and always helpful. Our suite (Room 7/11) was huge for two people and the views were breathtaking. The buffet breakfast offered a great variety of Japanese and Western food.

The exterior looks old and dull, but the interior is in good condition, and the lobby is spacious and bright, with a panoramic view of Mt. Madarao. The room was a modern Japanese-style room with 10 tatami mats, but there were chairs by the window that could seat four people, so the two of us could have a relaxing time. The hot springs are spacious and have a great view. Dinner was kaiseki style and delicious. Myoko Kogen is completely empty after the May holidays, but when you walk around the plateau, you can see snow-capped Mt. Myoko and admire skunk cabbage, and the soba restaurant "Basho" at Ikenodaira Newt Pond is delicious, and there is a visitor center next door. It's also nice to relax and enjoy coffee.

I went on a ski trip with my family. Because it was early in the new year, there were many customers and it was very crowded. Unlike when I came two years ago, there are many foreigners, and perhaps in line with that, the cafe in the lobby offers cappuccinos, fruit sandwiches, curry rice for vegans, and the downstairs bar serves wine and craft beer. In front of the main entrance at night, there are stalls selling skewers and wrapped sandwiches. When I came two years ago, I had an old image because it is a long-established store, but this time it seems that the inside of the building has been cleaned up little by little, and I was very impressed. The number of young staff members has increased, and I received a very good impression that they greeted me cheerfully with a smile. The open-air bath is as beautiful as ever, and it's wonderful to enter while it's still bright♪ My wife and children seemed to be very satisfied, so I'm thinking of going again next year. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it will change when I go next time ♪
