This is the place to be in Mondello!! The staff is amazing and the rooms are well appointed and quiet. It’s close to the center square and lots of places to eat. The breakfast is delicious with lots of tasty options! When we return, we’ll be staying here again!

My daughter and I stayed here for a fabulous 6 days. The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way in every way to make us feel welcome. Unico is a classy art hotel on the water in The small village of Mondello. Although there is not much to do in Mondello itself you will be swept up in the hospitality of the people. Every meal we had was better than the last ! Thank you Monica - you were an absolute darling .

This boutique hotel with less than ten rooms offers a fantastic combination of design, location and service. We stayed there for almost a week and really enjoyed relaxing at the infinity pool watching the boats passing by on Mondello bay while recovering from our field trips to Palermo and Monreale - both can easily be reached by car or taxi. We also enjoyed our trip to Isolate delle Femmine on the hotel’s own motor boat. Rooms are spacious and well designed.

Unìco. This review will be shared in two parts - PART 1: If anyone is expecting a to read a good review - please know I have nothing good to share about this hotel and the level of customer service I just experienced. I would advise all to proceed with caution when choosing to consider this hotel. They are greedy thieves and care more about collecting your money more than anything. I have traveled all over the world and stayed in many hotels - I am always one to leave good reviews for good experiences. This hotel service is beyond disgusting. I had traveled from Calabria, Italy to stay at Unìco Boutique Hotel D’Arte on August 10th 2024. I had initially booked to stay 3 nights - spending a great total of $2000CAD for the stay. After a long 4 hour journey from Calabria to Mondello, Sicily - my fiance and I checked into the hotel so excited to be there. The property itself is very nice aesthetically. After checking in and walking to the beach (being there for only 35 minutes) I received an unfortunate phone call stating that my aunt, whom I was traveling with - from Toronto to Italy - had just been rushed to the hospital in Calabria. She was excessively bleeding and in intensive care, with no insight as to her status, well being or if she would even make it through the night. My family advised me that it was best to go back to Calabria right away. I hadn’t even taken my shoes off at the beach when I received the call. I rushed back to the hotel to advise them of the emergency situation and stated I needed to leave immediately and go back to my town where I had come from just that morning. The staff member at the front reception desk, Rosalba, contacted the property owner - in Italy they call them “Archittetto” and advised her of my situation and circumstances of having to leave immediately. The reservation was booked through ******* and communication with ******* will be shared throughout this review. The hotel owner decided to be greedy above having any compassion for myself as her hotel guest. She refused to refund me my money. I had of course stated a one night fee could be kept based on her loss - but if she could consider giving me back my money for the remaining two nights. She refused entirely. She refused to speak to me. She refused to speak with *******. She refused to return my money “unless she rented the room out to someone else”. She refused to help in any way possible. I believe this lady is a horrible person. I begged and pleaded in the front lobby area. My aunt was now in hospital and dying because of the blood loss amount. The owner did not care and chose to be selfish and choose greed, over having any compassion. After a four hour journey - we now had to start all over again to rush back home to get to the hospital she was at. I advised the staff that I have recorded the entire encounter from start to finish. I have it all documented on camera that the owner was unwilling to assist me and be understan

What could have been a great end to an amazing trip ended up a disaster that the hotel could have easily been proactive and avoided on many levels. When we arrived our room air conditioning compressor was turning on and off every 30 seconds. This did not start after we checked in, this was happening before we arrived. The room was uncomfortably warm, the ac was not working property. The repairman arrived after 5pm. When we returned from dinner we noted the compressor was still turning on and off every 30 seconds, but the room was cooler. We were trying to determine how to sleep with the constant on off of the compressor. Then we noticed flies in the room. There were no windows open, they were coming from the ac ducts. They were not house flies, they looked like flying termites. We began to kill the flies thinking there must be a finite number of them. We were wrong, they kept coming. Too many to kill, too many to sleep with. This is all happening between 9pm and 10pm, 10 hours after we arrived. The woman on duty contacted management and conveyed that we would not be charged for one night and that they arranged for us to go to another hotel. At approximately 10pm we packed up our things, vacated the room and walked to the hotel. The next morning we walked back with our things at 7:30am in the rain. We stored our bags and left for a tour of Palermo. There was one room available for us when we returned. We checked in and found that the room did not have a balcony. The window facing the road did not latch, the closing mechanism was faulty and did not close tight. The road is noisy with cars and pedestrians until late into the night, like 2am. Having a window that closes tightly is important. We did not feel the room was an upgrade, and would not have expected to pay more for any room we had to move to from the one we reserved. When we checked out there was no mention of a credit for the room we had to vacate at 10pm and move to another hotel. There was no understanding from the woman who checked us out as to what had transpired, nothing. We were asked to contact you. Why wasn’t this dealt with so that we were not inconvenienced by having to contact you after our return home, and spending 30 minutes going back and forth with the woman checking us out? We expected to receive a credit for the night we were not able to occupy our room, as we were told by the night manager the evening of the incident, and we were not expecting to pay for a hotel that we had to move to due to nothing we caused. You responded "it was a surprise to us as well, but this is probably the disadvantage of being surrounded by a wonderful garden." A bad ac compressor and dozens and dozens of flies coming out of the ac duct into our room when we are ready to go to bed had nothing to do with your garden. Based on the multiple issues with the room, and how the credit we were promised for one night stay was ignored and brushed aside is bad management. I would not return and do not rec

Beautiful hotel, but the overall experience was a let down. We splurged on one of the nicer rooms, which we never do, but the idea of a private hot tub, water views, and a massive shower were quite appealing for a special occasion Our shower never quite drained and actually leaked out the sides opposite of the bathroom into our bedroom. The team was able to fix it the next day, although it was quite inconvenient as we had to be out of the room and unable to use the shower for an extended period of time Unfortunately our hot tub never got warm and we were unable to use it. The first time we mentioned this, they said it takes a long time. The second mention, they said they’ll take a look the next day (one of the two nights we were there). The next day, they “fixed” it, but turned it off before they left. It takes many hours to warm up and therefore, missed out again. Nina, at the front desk told us many inaccurate things throughout our stay, mostly involving the hot tub. On numerous occasions, mostly when requesting her in our room for the shower or hot tub, she was unapologetic and kept saying, “I didn’t know” while blaming her teammate from earlier in the day. Through these mishaps, we kept Nina and her teammate apprised as we were so disappointed and wanted a little bit of human empathy. My partner and I are both in customer service and just overall felt let down. Nina said she called the owner, Monica and “all” she would offer were complimentary aperitifs on the rooftop. We asked to speak with the owner or a manager and she begrudgingly told us we could email the main email and it would connect to Monica directly My partner sent an email and after a few days of not hearing back as promised, he sent another email asking for an update. The email kicked back and we were BLOCKED!!!! We sent the same email from my email address and notified them that we were blocked. We received a response the next day. There was zero accountability and the response was as if they never even read the original email and only defended by saying they watched Nina on the cameras and that she’s entitled to making mistakes. First and foremost, most of the encounters were in our room; hopefully not insinuating cameras are in our room? Second, although Nina impacted our overall experience heavily, the email wasn’t targeted at her; it was more about the shower overflowing into our room and the hot tub, which we paid so much for, not being usable. Neither were acknowledged in the response Drumroll please: about a week later, Nina called and then emailed me from her personal email threatening us. See attached. I would NOT recommend this hotel because of the overall lack of customer service, empathy and most importantly, integrity from the person representing the hotel and your first impression

This is based on my experience of staying 4 nights here. I had high expectations based on the reviews but was left very disappointed. Our room had a strong chemical smell which we slept in. I asked to move rooms or checkout, and they were full and did not allow me to checkout or else I would forfeit my money. I slept with the windows and sliding door open the following days and they moved me for one night. What was the most distasteful element of my stay was the service I received for raising my concern on the smell in the room. The staff made my partner and I feel as though I was making it up and being an inconvenience even though I was very nice and calm about the issue. As it is was a small hotel, the next 3 days I felt ignored and was never asked how everything is going. On top of this, the room was very loud and noisy as it was next to the kitchen. We could hear rattles and noise all night into the morning which meant we couldn’t sleep in at all. I believe that if the customer service here was better, my stay could have been massively improved. From staying across 10 hotels in Europe for this trip, this is by far the worst I experienced.
