Cà Palazzo Malvasia - BolognaRooms

We stayed here one night as part of our visit to the region near Modena. It started off badly - we’d booked through ********** and a couple of days before we received a threatening automated email saying we needed to complete a form with all of our personal details including passport info/ dates of birth/ a photo of each of us holding our passport/ contact info etc… or we would not receive the email about how to check in. We filled out the form, and even though it said it didn’t need all of the info for the kids, it then wouldn’t let us submit without it. We complied and then received another email later with a link to the check in info. When we tried to just use maps to google and navigate to “Ca' Palazzo Malvasia” google said “permanently closed”. We put in the address to the place per the ********** booking confirmation and it took us through about an hours with of tiny windy backroads through the countryside that were 2 way but were the size of a one way street - terrifying! We arrived at the address but whilst the gate looked the same, the keypad and signs on it were different from the photo provided of the gates in the link to the “check in info”. There was no phone number in the link, so we were very panicked - in the middle of the forest and lost with no number. We tried to ask a neighbour, but we got more lost. We eventually found a contact number on ********** and got some more info and found the place. I think there may be 2 entrances which caused the confusion. When we arrived the place around 7pm and it felt very creepy. It was a totally empty castle in the middle of a dark forest with no one else there. We used the key code to enter and lights turned on as we walked through and found our room. Once we got to the room, it was large, clean and nice with comfy beds, wifi and a good bathroom. I contacted the same person again with a couple of questions and they were very responsive. We slept well. There was a tiny bar fridge in the room and a communal kitchen used for breakfast, but this fridge was pretty full so we didn’t use it to store our food. Later on more people arrived at the castle and it was much less creepy. In the morning there was a buffet breakfast, it was mainly lots of different cakes/cereals/ yoghurt. No fresh fruit.

Historic location in a nice countryside near Bologna. The place is full of history and comfort. I really like the chandelier in the room made off glass and all the furnishing and how everything was set and thinked without concerning costs. Such a nice experience much better than a standard hotel room.

Gorgeous country views. Comfortable stay. Owners went above and beyond to make our night car travel there comfortable. They stayed on the phone with us until we arrived at our room. Truly amazing service. The views are awesome and just a unique experience.

Very beautiful location, nicely kept buildings, large room. Comfy bed. Pleasant atmosphere overall. You definitely need a car, but you may also have nice walks within the large (and safe) property. The price is Ok, given that accomodation is very expensive in the area.

Peaceful and beautiful property. The rooms and beds were comfortable and clean. The breakfast was all prepared the night before so that we didn't have to be on a schedule or feel rushed. The place is very secure, with multiple gates and door locks. We liked it enough to stay again a week later on our return trip through the area.

I stayed last week for 4 nights in the hotel, the experience was very bad. First of all, you have to pay 3 days in advance, which was not clear during the booking, otherwise your reservations gets cancelled. There is no reception in the hotel and everything is managed by what's app and email (you get an access code once you pay in advance). At the last evening the water stopped working at 9PM. I was told (what's app) that this is an issue for all households in the radius of 50km...the next morning there was still no water and I had to use bottled water I had left to do the minimum morning wash....later it turned out that this was not an issue for some of my colleagues living close by... After my leave I have requested twice to receive an invoice, no response....

While visiting Bologna and the surrounding area we wanted a place in the country near the train to commute to and from Bologna. This was the perfect place. The countryside is beautiful. Sasso Marconi is a lovely small town that has great restaurants and amenities. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. We all discussed what a great place to stay when traveling with family or a group. We would all return.

This December we wanted to spend the Christmas with all the family united, since although all from Bologna, we are all living in different cities. After surfing on the web, I found this place in Sasso Marconi, and from the pictures it is was the most appropriate place offering what I was looking for: several large rooms, living rooms and a kitchen. The owner was exceptional in providing all the info and he also gave me the possibility to visit the location in advance. The manager and the housekeepers run this place with great professinality, cordiality and high care. We spent in total 2 days, celebrating the Christmas day in this magic place. The location is simply outstanding, on the beautiful hill of Sasso Marconi, next to the Museum of Guglielmo Marconi and with an incredible view on the Basilica of St. Luca, one of the most iconic places of Bologna. The house inside is simply awesome. Is a house of the 1600, with an amazing park, incredible furniture, awesome rooms and luxury living room. That place made my family Christmas simply magic.
