I read many facebook group posts about what to expect when going to GWL. Here is my review. It was AMAZING!!!! We went away for a week visiting PA, OH, Indiana and KY and this was everyone's favorite place. I was worried my kids wouldn't like it because we've been to Kalahari in Sandusky, OH many times and it does seem bigger. However! GWL wins because everyone could ride all the rides. At Kalahari, there are many ”teen/grownup” slides and so it excludes other members of the family. I had also worried that my kids (ages 10, 8 and 6) may get bored with GWL being smaller and more ”kid friendly” and themed.... but that wasn't a problem at all! We did take our own towels as people suggested. I wasn't going to worry about potentially being charged $15 for each towel. We placed a bag (that they did not go through) on a beach chair and 4 hours later, it was still there. No one bothered it. People wonder if you can take in food or water bottles. Again, they never checked out bags, but with me being a rule-follower in nature, we didn't take anything with us. I do wish we would have taken one water bottle as it was hard to breathe at first and especially when climbing the stairs.... but we just took a break and went to the outside pool and when we came back in, we were fine. I did however see someone who had packed an entire picnic. I judged them in the fact that they were breaking the rules. The hot tub was great and kids were allowed in the bottom one, so they felt all grown up. Water basketball was fun. They have a smaller kid section with 4 slides and splash pad type things. I LOVED that section. The water that falls off of the trees and the ”mushroom” hitting on your back is like a free massage! lol The wave pool is shallow, which is WONDERFUL! I've been to some wave pools that have knocked me over and when the waves have stopped I felt like I had just done an hour workout on my legs. This wave pool was seriously perfect. Shallow, but waves come quite frequently. The family slide on a tube that holds 5 people was my husbands favorite. My kids loved the Coyote Canyon AKA Toilet Bowl (even my 6 year old loved it). I loved the dark orange/red one, but the green tube slide and the yellow slide were just fine as well. The hydro plunge was closed, but it didn't even phase my kids. We still had plenty to do. Shoutouts!!! To Kelsey, but especially the girl that was working with her on July 2nd around 4:30pm. She had an ombre hair style. About 2-3 inches of dark roots and then the rest of her hair was blond and pulled up in a ponytail. I wish I would have gotten her name. She was AMAZING and so KIND! She asked all three of my kids there names and remembered them! So then she'd say, ”El*&^ how did you like the slide that time?” How special to make a connection with the guests. We saw her later in another part of the park and she called them by their name and said, ”Hello!” She deserves an employee of the month award for sure! Not only was this girl and

Tru by Hilton Mason Kings Island

Mason|3.8km from city centre
The staff at the front desk, particularly Zack, was the only thing saving this review from being a one-star review. We usually stay at Hampton or Homewood Suites but decided to try Tru for a change of pace. Great location near King's Island but the the fit and finish of this hotel is abysmal. Misaligned drywall, shower doors that don't close correctly, balky elevators. All not up to Hilton standards. We had our digital key assigned for our room, but I always check at the front desk to get a spare key and found out our room had been changed without notice, so if I had tried to use the digital key I would probably still be trying to get in the room. The room was smaller than expected, but clean, except for the take out container of Chinese food in the fridge that had been there several days and stunk up the room. (Housekeeping did re-sanitize the fridge right away once I contacted them.) The window shades kept out the sun, but I-71 is about 1/4 mile away and we could still hear traffic noise. The ”heated” pool most definitely was not heated and was downright chilly. Also, very hard to dry off when there are no towels in the pool area. Breakfast area had a great selection of foot but the layout was kind of strange. Kids of course loved to watch the pancakes flip themselves, but that was in the middle of the breakfast bar so everything stalled there, causing the lines for breakfast to get very long. The kicker for us came when the A/C unit began to malfunction at 1:00 AM, with the sound of running water coming from the air conditioning unit. This was loud enough that we were not able to sleep. I went to the front desk at 2:00 AM to ask for another room. Zach gave me a new room but that room had the same issues, so obviously there are issues with the hotel's A/C units. Eventually I threw all the (very thin) towels in the room on top of the A/C and turned on the fan to try to muffle the noise but still was not able to get to sleep. We put in a request at the front desk when we left for the day to have maintenance check the unit. When we returned to the room at night it was obvious that the problem was not fixed, but we got earplugs from the front desk! It was apparent to me that the hotel has A/C issues. I am a Hilton Honor member and will be contacting Hilton regarding a refund due to the numerous issues.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Cincinnati North - Liberty Way

Westchester|3.24km from Discount Drug Mart
I have been with IHG group for several years and I have always enjoyed staying in one of your hotels. I never experienced any small issue with your brand so IHG group had always been one of my top choice whenever I planned to travel. However, I just had one of the worst experiences with one of my recent bookings, which changed my impression about IHG group and I would like to share this with you. I made my booking on September 9, 2021 at Holiday Inn Express Cincinnati North – Liberty Way for one night from 9/18/2021 to 9/19/2021. I was with my 2 kids (2 and 4 years old) and arrived at the hotel around 8:30pm after a very long drive and a full day of outdoor activities. Due to the busy schedule, the kids had not yet eaten dinner at that time. We grabbed dinner to-go and was planning on eating at the hotel after check-in. When I tried to check in, they could not find my name on the list and I was told my reservation was cancelled. The receptionist asked me if I received a call from her manager but I did not receive any call, email, nor voicemail. As far as I could tell, there was absolutely no attempts to notify me of the cancellation. I was so frustrated when I was informed the cancellation. In my previous experiences, I always received the call and they would at least transfer me to another hotel. I would not be so frustrated if I at least received an email notification so I could plan ahead. With two young kids, it is extremely important for us to be able to rely on the plans we have set. We had been counting on our room being available (otherwise what is the point of a reservation) and it was both extremely disappointing and beyond inconvenient to find out the hard way that perhaps the IHG brand was not one that we could rely on. In the end, the receptionist simply said there was nothing they could do to help me. When asked to speak with a manager, I was told there was no manager available. They made no attempts to locate a manager, no effort in trying to transfer my reservation nor did they bother to make any calls to other hotels to check availability on my behalf. I was more or less told to leave and that there was nothing they could do to help me. I had to scramble to find another hotel much further away while hungry kids were crying in the back seat and I had to pay significantly more ($200+) for a last minute room elsewhere. I am shocked that my reservation was cancelled without any notification at all, there was no manager at the hotel available to speak with me and there were no attempts made by anyone at the hotel to try and fix or ease the situation in any way.

We booked this room on spur of the moment, last minute notice so we wasn't expecting anything spectacular. We have stayed at this hotel in the past, so we were ok with it. It literally served its purpose. We were at an amusement park most of the day and night and used this room literally to sleep so we were not expecting much. It was clean, quiet and safe. We were ok with it.
