I was really excited to start travelling after 2 years hiatus. I chose Switzerland as I had already made plans for the a 3 weeks trip in May 2020. I had to cancel it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I picked Alpina Hotel in Luzerne due to its great loation and affordability. It is near many eateries and other attractions. I booked 2 rooms; 338 and 339. We get to enjoy the street view and marvelled at the beautiful building opposite our rooms. I noticed that the opposite building was built in 1537 [ need to confirm this ]. The street was generally quiet except in the mornings when rubbish trucks cleared did their cleaning. The room has simple layout and mine has 2 sinks in the living area. The bed and pillows area are comfortable. The bathroom is small but all items worked well. I did not see any staff at Alpina as most of them were based at the nearby sister hotel, The Monopol, which is located about 20m away. Checking in was fast and easy and it was done at Monopol. I was grateful for all the guidance and assistance provided by the receptionist. Alpina hotel is located about 110m away from Luzerne Train Station and it was relatively easy to find. My room ; 339 is bigger than 338. All in all, I had a really great experience staying in this hotel.

Friendly Staff: The staff were generally friendly and polite. When I arrived at the hotel earlier than the check-in time, the staff provided space for storing my luggage.
Comfortable Accommodations: The room I stayed in was generally comfortable and clean, providing a decent level of comfort during my stay. However, there were a few minor maintenance issues that could be addressed, such as the brightness of the light. Also, the spray at the toilet did not function properly.
The dining options at the hotel were satisfactory. While the meals I had were tasty, I felt that there could have been a bit more variety in the menu offerings, especially for guests staying for an extended period.

Location is great. Near to tram station and city centre. Room is small with little space for luggage. No wardrobes. Bathroom with glass door means no privacy for the person taking a shower. Toilet is separate from the shower stall which is too small to even hang one's clothes or towel. At least, they did install a curtain across the room to give a little privacy to the bathroom.

The hostel was very cozy and a convenient location. Although it is not actually in Lucerne the bus station is right outside and you get free tickets! The beds were very comfortable and we slept great. However, the check in desk has nobody there from 11 am to 4 pm check in... where were we supposed to put our luggage? Also, the shower wouldn't drain and was very small and gross. If you're a budget traveler, I would still recommend staying here!

Very nice hotel just across the street from the Vierwaldstatter see(Lake Lucerne) Pros: Great staff easy check in Great views from lake facing rooms, easy parking. Ok value for the area,comfortable bed. Cons: There was construction going on at the time of our stay. The rooms have no A//C, not a deal breaker but the room was sealed up tight and that first blast of stifling heat when we opened the door was unexpected. But they do give have a large fan unfortunately the cord would not allow the fan to be placed in the terrace door to help cool off the room. The breakfast buffet selection was plentiful but the cooked foods were merely OK at best.

We stayed in Lucerne for 1 night & couldnβt recommend more this amazing Golf Hotel. The interiors of the hotel were so cozy & beautiful giving you a special feel of Christmas. The hotel is made of glass almost & overlooking great greenery landscape of golf courts. The rooms were enormous with lots of spaces so was idea for us as a family of 4. Breakfast items were so fresh. The hotel is almost 10 mins by car from city center so I advice you to come to this hotel only if you have a car. People were so friendly n so welcoming in this hotel especially Carolin, she was a lovely receptionist that recommended us few places n things to do.

Stunning location in a quiet residential area on the shore of Lake Lucerne. (It's a 15 min bus journey ((No.21)) from Lucerne Bahnhof Bus station) Twin room (cleaned daily) was lovely with very comfortable beds, lovely shower plus coffee/tea machine, safe and 2x bottles of water daily. Staff polite and helpful as you'd expect.π We didn't try the 'Fondue hut' experience, as much as it looked stunning it was way too pricey, a little like the Breakfast option (32 CHF pppd) but the heated seat pads and seat throws were the ideal accompaniment to our mulled wines on the patio on the chilly Christmas eve evening.π₯π ONLY issue for us was at checkout when somehow our prepaid room was deemed unpaid which was stressful at 06:00, it took time to sort & with our bus to catch (exactly on time at the stop outside every day) to make our train connections, which we just made at 06:18, it wasn't the best start to our journey home, nor the last impression from our stay.

PPENGThe pictures are all views from the window. See the beautiful scenery of Lake Lucerne. Because it is this, we evaluate 5 stars. The hotel is 4 stars in size and has the same facilities as the domestic express hotel. The room is quite large in Switzerland. The balcony is very nice to see the lake. It takes 8 or 9 minutes to get to the lake. There are more places to eat around, and the bus is still close. Go to the hotel to take the little cable car. The breakfast variety is too small, 30 Swiss francs a person, it is really cheaper, it is the simplest breakfast in the entire Swiss itinerary. The breakfast restaurant can see the lake, it is still good. The overall layout of the hotel is very good, people like it very much, the hotel service is also very good. Specifically, the hotel has a shuttle bus, saying that it can only be sent to the bus station from the hotel, and then take the bus to the train station. The driver actually sent us directly to the train station that day, touching. Lucerne is not big, the hotel location is OK, and it is convenient to go anywhere.

WWander50017749501The hotel deserves a perfect score! And the staff from Reception to Bolero restaurant a 6 our of 5! The friendly and informative greeting we received at check-in was superb. The bus tickets for Kriens/Pilatus is included for all guests and close by. The receptionist went even as far as walking us to the parking we had reserved (22CHF/day--worth it). We had room number 611 with a bay window on the top floor and it was very comfortable. They thought of everything from coffee machine to all small details a traveler might need. The location is very central!

GGuest UserI only stayed for one night as a stopover, but the hotel is very close to the station, and I have already arrived when I got off the bus and crossed the road. There is no air-conditioning in winter, but opening the windows is good enough! The room as a whole is so clean! The staff at the front desk are very kind and answer all questions! And the hotel is 5 miles away from the scenic spots, just walking distance! Moreover, a small supermarket is opposite the hotel, and it only takes a few steps to buy snacks! And there is a D restaurant on the lower floor of the subway station! Overall, it is highly recommended for travelers who want to catch the train the next day.

I spent 3 nights at the Hotel Hammer for a break in the shoulder season in March. The hosts were very nice and I felt very comfortable. I had a small single/attic room on the top floor, which is reached by a few stairs. Simple but beautiful with chalet charm in wood, with a washbasin in the room, the toilet/shower (3 single ones in total) is separate in the hallway by the single rooms, which was no problem at all. Both the room and the toilet/shower are very clean. I spent very peaceful nights on a comfortable bed and was able to explore the beautiful area during the day. I would love to come back. Thank you very much, this is what you imagine a stay to be like!

Service: The service is also very good. There was a little hiccup, but it proved that the staff are very serious and responsible. They also thoughtfully helped us find a bank. The hotel provides free bus QR code
Breakfast: quite rich, with lots of fruits and vegetables
The door lock is an ancient key lock, which is interesting. If you come back too late or on the weekend, you can use another lock to open the hotel door and restaurant door.

DDarcy. WHotel location is fantastic. Less than 1 minute walk from the information center located from the train station.
Hotel room is fine but the edges of the bed frame protrude out hence one needs to be more cautious.
We arrive at 7pm on a Sunday evening and check in was quick. Will appreciate if WiFi password and Lucerne Visitor card are given upon check in instead of having to request for it.
At 11pm, when i tried to input the WiFi username and password, it shows Credit used up. I called the reception for assistance and was told to come down to the reception. After going down, I was given another print out of the WiFi username and password. I do not understand why this cannot be communicated over the phone. Went back to the room, tried the new username and password and it still doesn't work. Only managed to login to the WiFi the following morning when I went to the reception and get another user ID and password. Not sure if this is common in Switzerland but this sure is my first encounter.

GGuest UserAll was correct in general but compared to other places of the same kind, this means that it arrives max. 21 h and departure max. 10 a.m. in the morning I feel very restricted when you are on the journey ... Very good place and very beautiful parking which unfortunately is charged $15.

GGuest User The room was clean and spacious and beds were decent. Breakfast is at Hotel de la Paix and has an excellent spread. Good choices available for vegetarians too. Location is great- walking distance to the station, lion monument and the Chapel bridge. Now coming to the not so great parts: 1) At the time of booking, I did not notice that the room has no air conditioning. Please check that before you book. Travelers from the US assume air conditioning is available everywhere. The room temperature was okay after left the window open (but that exposes you to the noise from the street below) 2) The bathroom exhaust did not work well. Not acceptable in my opinion. 3) The Hotel does not have anyone at the reception. The reception is at Hotel de la Paix which very close (apparantly the two hotels have a commmon management). This is a slight inconvenience

GGuest UserService: Super good. Since it is a long way down the stairs, there is a bell to inform customers to ring the bell and the hotel staff will help carry the luggage and send customers to the room to guide them to check in!

Hotels like this should just shut down and not be in this business. Bring your rude staff with you too. This is the worst hotel in the world! Upon arrival you would feel that you made the wrong decision. The hotel smelled so dirty and old. Who knows when was the last time they cleaned it. The people working there does not have a clue what theyβre doing. They canβt find my reservation so they have to call the manager to find it. Bad customer service. Iβve had a couple of bad customer service experience but nothing compared to this one. The manager was VERY VERY RUDE!!! Every time you ask her help, her response is βI donβt know!!β like she doesnβt work there. She was not willing to help people who paid decent money to stay at this horrible place. The hotel amenities were horrible too but not as bad as the customer service. We stayed in the building not connected to their check-in lobby. The building was a place that filmmakers would use to create horror movies. The lobby at this building has no steady light. It was on a timer and would turn off after 5 mins. So when you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the shared bathrooms, you would find yourself unsafe to pass by the lobby since there were no lights. They have a washer and dryer which is great but no English instructions. When you call the receptionist for assistance, she would response in a discourteous way. Nobody in this hotel wants to help you. What they do is to take your money and leave you hanging. Please donβt ruin your trip to the beautiful country of Switzerland by staying at this awful place.
